Are they okay for the price? The ones I'm talking about are those usually four channel mixers that are small, roughly the size of maybe two decks of cards stacked ontop of each other.

thoise behringher tiny ones are good for the price. I saw one for 40 euro the other day. deal.

I also have a question on mixers in general, if you only want to record from mics, only Mono inputs are needed right?

yep freestyle, the onloy stereo mics are usually for video or conferencing, not music. although mics are often arranged as stereo pairs, you will only need mono inputs for each one

edit: kick *** i just got a sm57 too. I tried it on vocals and it sounds pretty good although every breath comes through like ground zero (then again i dont plan to use it for vocals)
