Im trying to record my guitar over a MIDI drum track from guitar pro....
Im using simple recording software- N Track Studio....
When I import the MIDI track in and try and record over it. There is always a slight delay (about a second or so) between what I was actually playing and what you would hear....My guitar sounds a few seconds out of time basically even though I was playing in time...does anyone know why this would happen?

inefficiency of your sound card and a/d converters. just realign the tracks manually afterward

So theres no way I can change it at all?
Surely there must be, but why would it only do this with Guitar Pro and not something like Fruity Loops? D A M N M I D I

its a latency issue. i forgot how to solve it though.

I urge you/anyone to remember....

it is probably an issue with the software

edit: the most simple explanation is that the software and soundcard do not communicate very fast.

try to change your latency, switch to an Asio driver (think thats what there called) of some sort, there are normaly several. they seem to be the better ones, unless you have top notch hardwear

tip:

why not convet the midi drum track into an audeo file? this can be done by pulling in your headphone out into line/mic in and select record to wave in guitar pro (if you don't do that it sounds really bad, wlel on GP4 anyway)

then you should have almost no latency between when you play it back (there will allways be a latency of some sort from when you pluck a sting to when it gets recorded/played back but that would be unable to detect pritty much anyway)
