I'm currently working on a 4-min. blues-jazz demo song, using a synthesizer and guitar. I have laid down my drum track, with room for three main sections and two solo sections. Here's my idea for the layout:
INTRO (piano lick)--->MAIN1 (piano melody with various instrument acmp.)--->SOLO1 (either guitar or organ)--->MAIN2 (same as before, a little different, maybe expanding the previous main section)--->SOLO2 (either guitar or organ, whichever wasn't used in the previous solo section)--->MAIN3 (incoperating licks, etc. from other parts to close the song--->ENDING (closing piano lick)
My question is how to go about this. I'm using a digital multi-track recorder with 16 tracks to work with. Do I go in order, record the solo sections first, or what? What's the best method to make the song sound unified and complete?
Thanks in advance.
