I'm looking into buying an old reel to reel recorder off ebay. What are the pros and cons of using one of these devices. Any info/input is greatly appreciated.

PROS:
- good quality and nice warm sound
- higher clipping levels
- self satisfaction
- fairly cheap to maintain (unless it's an old thing)

CONS:
- expensive to buy machine
- high maintenance
- more to do that digital
- editing can be tricky and time consuming
- information on tape can be lost after a while
- everything's done in reel* time

*real :p

Thanks, i would go digital, but don't have enough cash for a program like protools or something like that, or all the components you have to buy. I've found some reel to reels on ebay for like 50 bucks. Also most have an extension out so i could put that on a computer and burn a cd that way. Sound right?
