I enjoyed listening to your songs, but Im not a fan of how the guitar sounds. Otherwise, the vocals were good and I thought your songs were well written. Keep it up.

Using that piece of software you have no excuse for that quality!!! Lol. Cool Edit is the don...maybe just spend a little more time on that (this being said, it could simply have been the streaming sound quality).

The first song is easily the best. I like the vocal melody although I think that the guitar is too loud and drowns it out. One thing I have learned with recording is not to be scared to turn the guitars down even if what you have written you want to show off...I know I do. At the end of it all it'll sound so much better.

Good work though, keep it up. :)

for some reason i can't get my guitar to sound very good in a recording.
my guitar player uses a boss gt-3 multi effects pedal that i send directly out to my mixer then into the pc. The guitar parts always sound a little harsh so I added a little light flanger effect to it to get a clearer sound... not the best sound in the world, but i couldnt find anything better to use..

any help would be appriciated...

Thanks

I liked your songs BTW...the vocals were very good, esp. for this forum where the screaming never seems to end! LOL

The GT-3 is a great unit for recording, but you gotta keep the distortion/gain toned down. It's easy to go overboard. What might sound really cool can turn out sounding like crap. Cut back on the gain.

I use the Amp Mods ONLY!! I never use the distortion box features. You should get all the gain you need from the Amp Mods. (The Soldano is my favorite) Unless you are shooting for a "buzzy/fuzzy" sound, stick with the Amp Mods gain setting.

Also, try to keep the effects to a minimum, as the chaining of too many effects can cause degradation of the signal. Plus, too many effects can make the guitar mix sound soupy.

I must stress, the GT-3 is a great unit for recording, reguardless of what anyone else might tell you. I've used mine extensivly!! I love it!
Once again good songs, I liked them a lot. :thumb:

Really sounds quite good, that first song reminds me of a heavier Chili's, with a little Audioslave in there. The vocals really are pretty good in that, and I didn't think the recording quality was that bad. Its listenable, not that much hiss, and the vocals are pretty clear.

I think it's best to mic an amp, and use live sound. Everything sounds very processed any other way. The song I listened to was good, by the way.

Some advice that I go by...

1 - Don't use effects from your pedals etc, instead try to match them with Cool Edit Pro (It's quite capable of anything if you play around with it.) So, in other words, just record a clean track.

2 - Input directly to the PC (unless you have an AMAZING microphone) PC's work best like this. I do it in this order...

Guitar ---> Amplifer ---> PC

Don't just plug in the guitar directly or straight from a pedal but instead use your amp. Tweak with the volumes etc a little and you'll get there. You can always boost the signal in Cool Edit later anyway.

Hope this helps.

i think the music is great. not much to say about it except that i voted for the first option :thumb:

you guys need to use better recording equipment, though. also, i really hate the guitar tone.

in the third song, the guitar is too loud at times.

hey, checked out the first song.. Clean tone was ok... distortion sound sucked but was a good tune... Too much reverb on the voxs IMO. Strong voice though.
Drum sound is pretty weak. Timing when the drums come in at the stat is out and also when the heavy guitar comes in at 2:00.
OPTION 1

Very good, but the guitars were a little dry. If you add a little bit of distortion it would give it a warmer feel and (hopefully) avoid the popping sound your guitarists is getting on the low strings (I only listened to the first song). The drum quality (its sound on the record, not quality of playing) is also kind of low, although I dont know how you would fix that.
