Hey, my band just spent 8 months in the studio recording a full cd, and we want to know what you guys think of one of our songs. Please be honest. The band is alternative rock, with piano on a few songs.
Thanks a lot.

Hey man this song was sooo awsome! Anything with a piano in it naturally is excellent. But you guys took this song to the next level. It's not the lame teenish pop boring emo/punk you see every day now. The song was absolutely amazing. Maybe you guys should try to get on Warped Tour or something if your not already on it. Send me more of your material please!!

What are you talking about? It's totally emo...and poppy... thats not to say it's not good. But it's just very generic.

This is good stuff, man!
Recording quality, mixing, production...All top notch!
The song is catchy and has many changes with different colors.
I personally would have insisted on having a killer lead guitar break in there somewhere, but that's just me...
You guys need to go on TV with your songs!
You'll make it for sure!
Great song...good job!
Time & money well spent! :thumb:

I never said it wasn't emo. I just said it didn't sound like the stuff you hear all the time. And it is pop too.........

Thanks alot. I agree with the lead guitar thing. I think a lead with the same feel as "fall to pieces" by Velvet Revolver would have sounded good.

Not my cup of tea, but it was alright. It sounds too much like so many other bands though.

Just out of curiosity, why would a band need to spend 8 months in a studio just to record a CD?

It takes days even weeks to put a good song together in the studio and make it CD worth. If the band or producer wants to change anything it has to be rerecorded or editted again. Maybe not 8 months but it does take a long time in the studio to put a full length album together.
Would I be correct in saying this about your band chimpanzonextasy?

I could imagine it being on the radio. If you want to take that as a compliment go ahead, its more of an observation though. The lyrics need alot of work.

Yea. I didn't have anyone helping me put this together. I wrote a 15 song CD, and had to A)Find a drummer and bassist B)Put up with all the bull**** of the 2 studio owners (not showing up, not caring etc.) I pretty much did all the work myself (including tracking). It was a total pain in the *** and no one was helping me. I have OCD and went back and redid every little thing that bothered me about anything. So that is why it took 8 months.

Ya, I imagine that if I ever go to a studio to record stuff, I'll just be annoyed to death by everything since writing and recording a song at home never takes me more than 2 hours.

No band should need to be in a studio for 8 months. Many great cd's are recorded in a week or a month. If you've been in there for 8 months it better be something amazing haha.

People don't understand how much work it is to get a full album done in the studio.
Def Leppard's Hysteria took over a year! Look what a masterpiece they came out with!!

What about John Frusciante? In the past year, he recorded 6 separate albums. Each one was recorded in like 3-4 days and they are all amazing.

What about Chinese Democracy? :p
Anyway, a pretty great band you seem to have there... I can't help but notice the impact you've had on so many people... That suggests future success. You have received the AJ Seal Of Approval.

I didn't even have a band when I started this. I had to teach everyone my songs, and tell them exactly what I wanted. Plus, everyone who records their CD in a few days or weeks have much better means than I did. I could only get a few hours in the studio every week, plus I had to work around the busy schedules of everyone else. My next CD will only take a few weeks, because I will have a full band all ready to go next time.
