In my opinion, there have been no real, real good movies coming out lately, so in this thread we recommend the last REALLY entertaining movie you saw.

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi

Wow, I must must must must MUST recommend anyone who likes samurai/stylized actions movies to HUNT THIS MOVIE DOWN!

My buddy stayed at my place last weekend and made me rent this movie, I was hesitant at first but, I was wowed beyond belief.

It's basically about a blind masseur who wanders into a town and encounters many wonderful characters and gets caught up in a revenge plot against a gang that is tormenting the town he entered. He also encounters 2 geishas whose parents were murdered by this gang.

The first thing you'll notice is pretty much all the blood and swords through peoples bodies is done with really bad computer animation. Do not let this detour you though, the scenes with Zatoichi fighting are so badass you'll stop caring what the effects look like.

There is also uncalled for amounts of humour and some pretty nifty musical scenes (the thuds of workers hoes in a dirt field fall perfectly into sync with the musical track being played at the time, there are 2 other scenes like this which appear).

I guess the reason why I'm recommending this so much is that I was expecting nothing and got one of the more entertaining movies in a long, long time. I don't want to build up expectations but, this movie is most worthy of a watch. There is also a lot more to the plot than I've described, I'm just giving you guys the basics.

Hellboy was entertaining in the sense that the dialogle got so bad towards the end, I was laughing my *** off the last 15 minutes of the movie.

Seriously. It's so lame/chiche'd/retarded/non-creative.

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi
It really was a good movie. Once you get over the hideous cgi blood it's really humorous and has awesome fights. The dance number at the end was really unexpected, and long. The farmers synced with the music was really cool too, kind of like stomp.

Here's a few of mine.

State and Main:
About a film crew trying to make a movie in a small town. Awesome cast, good dialogue, and William H. Macy was funnier than I thought he could be.

Murdered by Death:
A comedy of crime solvers parodying sleuths like Columbo, Charlie Chan, and others. Really funny movie with all these twists and nonsensical things showing how truly stupid some mysteries are.

Punch-Drunk Love:
A socially-impaired novelty salesman finds love while being terrorized by phone-sex goons and capitalizing on a marketing campaign by buying cases of pudding for frequent flier miles.

It's a touching story, and very interesting, good acting and impressive serious performance from Adam Sandler.

Way to spell it wrong!

Anyways, the most entertaining movie that I saw recently was Alien vs. Predator. The acting was incredibly dumb, but the fights were pretty awesome.

Battle Royale is the most entertaining movie for me. I've seen it at least 8 times in the last 2-3 months or so and I never tire of it.

Ok, this might cause some controversy: Phone Booth.
That movie made me nervous while I watched it. The genius of the whole thing is how it all takes place in a phone booth and still manages to be really exciting.

Saw

That movie blew me away. I have not seen a movie so intense like that with an ending that no one sees coming in the longest time. I'm really curious to see how they plan on topping that with "Saw 2".

Great dialogue, and great storyline. Quentin Tarantino is the man.
