I didn't see this posted yet.....

Our pal Stax at FilmForce is reporting today one of the oddest and intriguing rumors I've heard in a really long time. According to their sources, Quentin Tarantino is in negotiations to write and direct the next FRIDAY THE 13th movie currently titled THE ULTIMATE JASON VOORHEES MOVIE (likely just a temp title). I had heard New Line was planning something big to replace the failed sequel to FREDDY VS. JASON but had no idea they were thinking about Tarantino! Or that Tarantino was thinking about them! Nothing is known about the project at this point other than it would be a "quickie" that would film later this year and would be a joint-venture between New Line and Paramount. FilmForce contacted Tarantino's agent at William Morris who would only say that the director had "not yet" been offered the job. But to be offered the job in the first place would mean that there is a job to be offered, no? Just try to wrap your head around the concept of a Tarantino written and directed Jason Voorhees film... My mind can barely comprehend the possibilities! Now if this rumor had come from anywhere else, I'd probably write off in about a half-second but Stax is no cub reporter and I have no reason to doubt his journalistic chops on this story.

This can ether be amazing or oddly lame.

Hmm, Jason in a suit? With a gun? Speaking? Mother****er?

I cringe at the idea, and yet, Tarantino could probably pull it off. I say yippie!

Any movie with Jason, Samuel L Jackson AND John Travolta has my vote. I'm in.

Tarantino is a very versatile writer/director. I think it would be great!

What I want to see is a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash movie!

Sounds good.

I hear he wants to direct a 007 movie some time.
That would = :):):):):)

this sounds like a horrible idea to me, but that's my opinion

I can't name one Tarantino movie that sucked.

I didn't particularly care for Jackie Brown.

What's wrong with Jackie Brown? Seriously? I don't understand why so many people bagged it. I thought it was a great movie. One of Tarantino's "least weird" flicks that was a clear, straightforward story(and a heartfelt tribute role for Pam Grier---she was marvelous in it), I think in time, people will come back and savor its goodness.

Bridget Fonda was hot as little surfer girl, too.

I know the direction Tarantino would take would probably be campy violence, but in his very stylish. Maybe he can even make it... scary again.

Friday The 13th hasn't been scary since Part 2.

That's weird. When Tarantino was promoting Kill Bill Vol.2, he said that the next movie he planned on directing was a war movie, which I was very excited about. As for the Jason movie...should be interesting nonetheless

123...it seems to be a little odd. It'd better be good or I'll kill him. jk, but he'd better not **** it up!

Tarantino says he wants to do a lot of things (like direct a new 007) but none of them seem to be coming to fruition so I'm going to assume this project will never see the light of day.

Yes, I, too remember reading about his desire to make a gritty WWII film in the style of Sam Fuller. It was going have Michael Madsen in it, and that's about all I know. I believe the working title was something along the lines of,
"Miserable Bastards". No seriously.

^Actually, its called "Inglorious Bastards"

See, I knew it had 'bastards' in the title. I just don't think the Hollywood producers will be able to get past the name. Still, reading up on it, it would have been interesting to see Mickey Rourke back in action. He's like the second coming of Jan Michael Vincent, only without the near-death motorcycle accident.

It's probably gonna suck. Let's be honest, I doesn't matter who directs it, it's still a horror sequel.

it will be a really bad dance, but also strangely cool

What's wrong with horror sequels?
Most the Elm Street sequels were good.

The Halloween sequels were good up until about part 5.

Friday The 13th parts 2,4,6, and Jason Goes To Hell were good.

Hellraiser part 2 was great.

Dawn Of The Dead and Day Of The Dead were excellent.

Critters parts 2 and 3 were cool.

Return Of The Living Dead rocked, and ROTLD parts 3 was pretty good, too.
Those are just off the top of my head, but there are many great horror sequels out there.

And yes, it matters a whole lot who directs it. That's why directors often get most of the credit for a film.
