Doom III

who has played it? good? bad? meh? i heard it wasn't that great and its pretty much the same as the other doom games. explore level, find gun, get card, advance to next level. but still! i want to play this game so bad it hurts! ive heard that the graphics are AMAZING! so yeah, who has played it and what do you think of doom III?

I played it, but haven't yet finished it. It is a deeply disturbing game. Try it without cheats, by the way. If your system is high-end, then max the graphics and you'll be impressed. For me, even with my ATI Xtasy 9200 256MB graphics card, I still chug along(not the smoothest gameplay). Nevertheless, if you want a good distraction(or have seen all the latest horror movies), play this game. One thing, though, wait a while until the price comes down. Or, you can buy it used.

good graphics, a really pretty game, but that's all, same as any other doom and all the monsters are predictable, I havent played half life 2 but im willing to bet that its better.

Both have amazing graphics, but the gameplay in Half-Life 2 is top-notch; the same thing can't be said for Doom III. It's just a rehash of most other FPSs, nothing new. However, with HL2, the interactivity with the environment is just as impressive as the graphics.

If you have the computer specs. to enjoy the visuals of Doom, get it; otherwise you can just wait, or get other games that'll have the same if not better visuals by then (such as F.E.A.R.). HL2, although graphics are tremendous, aren't entirely necessary to enjoy the other great things you can through controls.

I can't stress how great HL2 is. It absolutely blows away Doom 3 in everything. The graphics are even better imo because they are much more realistic.

both are equally good games..............

doom's got the graphics,the atmosphere (works on some people only) , disturbing and scary

half-life's got the game play,the physics, though some peoplre say the atmosphere also but it didnt work for me , and a little story to go along with it ( though not as good as the first )

depends what you want , if you like the old school style and your system is powerful. get doom

if you want a newer style of gameplay,half life

if you want something totally new, farcry

as for me if i compare, doom3 is the best, then followed by farcry then half life

Doom III is an awesome game. A little lacking on the multiplayer side...but that's what the new expansion set is for. To me, the atmosphere is there though. I bought and for 4 days I was addicted and finally beat it. It is a very fun game indeed.

Completely different beasts. Both are great! ;) HL2 has moments, including cutscenes, where it's not so threatening and you have to be on full alert(like you should in Doom 3). I thought the scenery, the design, and the characters were brilliant in HL2, and the firefight scenes with the human rebellion allies against the mutant military/police forces were the next best thing to watching DeNiro's posse firing at Pacino's boys in, "Heat". Yeah, I liked HL2, a lot.
