Hey everyone, I've been playing guitar, bass, drums and singing for the past 4 years. For the past year I've been getting very serious about singing and I dropped electric guitar and played only acoustic. I've decided to pursue piano because I've been playing around with a keyboard for about a year and I really like the Ben Folds/Rob Thomas(matchbox twenty) thing with piano. I'm planning on buying a yamaha digital piano because I don't have much room in my house. I don't know how to read music very well and I don't like the idea of playing classical pieces at all. Do you all have any suggestions? I was considering just picking up some sheet music from matchbox twenty, ben folds, elton john and that kind of thing and just start trying to learn. Is this a good idea?
There's a woman in my town who I got voice lessons from that plays jazz piano as well as modern material, would this be a better approach? Or should I just start out and see what I can do? Thanks.
