guitrguy

I like my lungs like my metal, black!

I like my nu metal the way I like my women; sucky and performed by under age people.

Beuh, nu metal.

Anyway:
Listening to Monolithe, I was quite big on these guys a while back.
Great monolitic funeral doom from France.
One hour long tracks.
Sweet.

have been on a Evoken kick today. Antithesis of Light this morning, A Caress of the Void this afternoon, and now i am playing Quietus. i just love this band. i still need to get their first 2 albums
A Carres Of The Void is high on my yearlist of 2007. :)

Pretty exciting news here:

Yawning Man will be releasing Vista Point, which comes out on January 22nd. It is reissue of Yawning Mans 2 albums (Rock Formations and Pot Head) on CD, in a jewel case with 12-page full-colour booklet, on glossy paper stock from Australia's Lexicon Devil Records.

Also, the next progression of Yawning Man: Dark Tooth Encounter. New drummer and a slightly different sound. Australia`s Lexicon Devil Records will be releasing the band`s debut this year.

Lexicon Devil Records finishes the trifecta with a new Ten East album, which will probably be a split with Fatso Jetson.

I am ecstatic with this news.

Ten East are: Gary Arce (Yawning Man, Fatso Jetson, Sort Of Quartet), Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man), Brant Bjork (Kyuss) and Bill Stinson (HOR, Greg Ginn).

TEN EAST is in the studio right now finishing up the second recording for Australia's Lexicon Devil records.

The next recording is called "The Robot's Guide to Freedom" and the band is also recording with guitarist Bryan Giles (Last of the Juanitas / Red Fang) for a later slab of music and there is a plan to do a split CD with Fatso Jetson possibly so these are the songs for that.

So they are doing a split with Jetson, that is amazing.

Well owing to the errr... cosy nature of their rehearsal rooms I got to see Al bust out those solos from less than 2 foot and had Terry directly in front of me singing like he was doing Wembly Arena. Because lyrically the band is incredibly sound. I'm not saying the lyrics have a substantial weight for everyone, but for me when I figure how dormant and desperate the vocals are I couldn't imagine enjoying them if the lyrics were arranged any different.

Right now I'm listening to Nadja, as usual.
But I have some good news for Nadja fans:

Hello all,

Nadja's latest album, Bliss Torn From Emptiness, a re-worked/-
recorded/-issue of a limited edition, out-of-print cdr release from
2005, lovingly (re-)mastered by James Plotkin, is now available
(although not officially until Jan 29) from Profound Lore Records:
http://www.profoundlorerecords.com

We will be having a free launch party for the release at 6pm on Sat
Feb 9 at Sonic Boom Records, 512 Bloor St. W. If so inclined, you can
preview all of Pt.2 here at Stereogum:
http://stereogum.com/archives/the-outsiders/the-outsiders-vol-3_007620.htm

I also have two solo releases out: "Fragile Movements in Slow Motion,"
a 3" cd ep, on Universal Tongue and "Suchness #1" which features a
live performance in Philadelphia last February (lovingly recorded by
Scott Slimm of Archive Records), on Gears of Sand Records:
http://univtongue.blogspot.com/
http://gearsofsand.net

From Crucial Blast:
We mentioned last month that Crucial Blast will be releasing the new album from Nadja, Desire In Uneasiness, later this Spring. We've set April 8th as the street date for that release, and we'll be offering a limited edition preorder shirt/cd package a month or so before the street date. The artwork for the album is completed, and I just put the cover art on the Upcoming Releases page so you can take a look at that...the art for this album is radically different from any of Nadja's previous releases, but then again the music on Desire... explores some new territory for the band too, the addition of a real live drummer taking the band down some new paths of psychedelic wandering and jazzy atmosphere while maintaining the brutally grinding bass groove and beautifully corrosive shoegazer guitar distortion that makes up Nadja's sound. I'll be posting some MP3 segements and a sample track from Desire... here soon for everyone to check out. The CD will be packaged in a Stoughton gatefold jacket and it's going to look amazing.

Sweet.
I will try and get the pre order.
