How are Soloman Kane? I almost got some stuff by them a few days ago...
Soloman Kane are a bit of a mysterious entity. Apparently they've been around since the 80s releasing only a few demos of extremely raw doom metal. Legend has it that they play 2 gigs a year in a secret moorland venue on the Summer and Winter Solstice.
Confusion surrounds who is actually in SK but mainman Titus Crowe (when he's not in jail) seems to the only constant member.
Pate: Solstice are indeed back. Only main songwriter and guitarist Rich Walker remains from the old lineup(s). Original drummer from Lamentations is back. Apart from that the new singer is Canadian but I've never actually heard him sing. Tom Philips from While Heaven Wept is 2nd guitarist and Diccon Harper (ex-DragonForce) is on bass.
The reissues are fantastic (including loads of great bonus tracks) and there is also a boxset with DVD coming out soon.

That makes me really want to find some Soloman Kane.

And don't the other 3 members use the same false names?

New Isole scheduled for an early 2008 release :D
I've been listening to Forest of Shadows' Departure. He put in some electronic drum beats that vaguely resemble (dare I say it) rap beats. I was skeptical, but its still amazing.

There's nothing better than blasting Hopkins or Fountain of Innocence on a long roadtrip.

Thanks.

**** yeah. Been listening to Nightfall all day.
Messiah sucks ***, despite the ownage musics on Nightfall, AD, and ToC.
Johan slays him. And they're both slayed by Rob Lowe.

Music-wise, I'm fond of both albums, but it's definitely Messiah's vocals that make the clear distinction for my love of it.
At the Gallows End almost makes the album for me.
Yeah, that's a great song. WoR were going to cover it on the new album, but decided against it. :p

What do you think of Mercy (SWE), metal-militia? It was Messiah's band before Candlemass, I recommend you get Witchburner if you haven't already.
It's definitely better, the S/T is pretty good but the new one has much better songs all around.
And EDM >>>> Nightfall
What do you guys think of Ancient Dreams?

Candlemass - Nightfall
Solstice - Lamentations
Pagan Altar - Volume 1
Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
Doomsword - s/t
Bedemon - Child of Darkness
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Solstice - A New Dark Age
Trouble - Psalm 9
Pentagram - Pentagram
probably something like that
leaving out St. Vitus was hard

not top 10 material imo, but I need to re-listen to the two albums I have.

Solitude are probably my favorite band period. Into the Depths of Sorrow, Beyond the Crimson Horizon, and Through the Darkest Hour are three of my absolute favorite albums.

Good list. There's a few alternatives I'd have put in but all in all good work.
And here's a few more for those who like the real stuff:
Penance - all albums are essential. My favourite is SpiritualNatural
Iron Man
Bloodfarmers
Warning
Orodruin
The Gates of Slumber
Las Cruces
Well of Souls (US)
Mirror of Deception
Revelation
Ritual
Place of Skulls
Rising Dust
There are so many great, great doom bands. Easily the most consistently great genre.

Lol yeah I've been trying to get into new music lately. I think I've grown out of death/black metal, so now my new obsession is doom.
I got two new cd's today, Cathedral- The Carnival Bizarre, and Black Sabbath's Vol. 4. The Cathedral album is really good, I like it a lot. BS is my favorite band, and this was my last cd to complete my collection. :smoke:
How would you guys rate St. Vitus? Are they closer to a Candlemass or Sabbath type of doom? They look interesting, but they didn't have any of their cd's at the store.

Candlemass' From the 13th Sun has been playing continually for the past few days now... I'm sure you've all checked it out, but if not, its some of the best stoner/groovy-type Doom I've ever heard and I highly recommend it. Its very very Sabbathy. Its not as epic as their other stuff, but incredibly heavy.
