Hello to the individuals who own an RP80.
I've created this thread because I'd like to hear other peoples views, setups and over all infomation on the rp80 effects pedal.

I have the RP200. I'm not sure of the differences between the two, but the RP200 is a decent enough multi-effects pedal for the price. Some of the effects are a bit cheap sounding, but with a bit of tweaking you can make some kickass effects yourself.

I would highly not recomend the RP80 because i bought one used it for a day then returned it. Utterly and completely useless IMO. There only a few ok effects : i personally like the sitar and the ya-ya but i would never use a yaya. Even the distortions are bad. Save and go for a different multi effects.

I own the RP200 and used to use it as my exclusive effects unit... Now I have more stuff and almost never use it -- but it does make a handy volume pedal, and such. It doesn't have a Sitar effect, and there are some other differences, but it is a more user friendly interface than the 80... I don't understand people's issue with Digitech, I've never had a problem with them or their products... my bassist uses a BP50, too.
As far as the RP200, (and I'm sure the 80 as well), the only thing I don't like about it is that you can only use one modulation effect at a time, which makes stompboxes or amp effects necessary for multiple effects at once. No biggie, though, and it's decent for recording direct, or through an amp (IMHO). I found the noise gate/surpressor highly effective and useful... of course, my new one is better, and it's rackmounted...

i also own a rp200. i hate it. yes, its cool for effects like tremolo, wah wah, phaser, delay, etc., but the sound is ****ty. With the right tweaking you can get a decent sounding distortion channel, but once i switch to my clean channel...ugh. It makes it sound horrible-- it sound muddy and blurred. When i bypass or just totally not use the pedal, my strat w/ my peavey tube amp sounds so awsome. at first i thought it was my guitar. It does have one hell of a lot of effects, but the quality is rather poor.
With my expierience with digitech, i would never touch another product made by them. I plan on selling my pedal and buying individual stompboxes.

I use a completely different amp for playing clean, and haven't messed with the clean settings on the RP200... for that matter, I almost never use it's amp modeling at all, as I use my amp's distortion.
As far as bad sound, it could be the cables or dirty connections somewhere, mine sounds just peachy. Of course, a friend of mine has one, and his sounds a bit different than mine... Perhaps each is not like another? Anyway, I'm thinking of starting a move to rackmounted things anyway, and Digitech does make some good stuff in that department... but others make better.
Anyway, for the money and all, and if you're looking for something to fill the gap in time between having a good effects chain (not MFX pedal, I honestly they aren't as capable as individual items), for light gigging and things, the RP series isn't all that bad.
