I bet this has been asked before. Oh well. :)
I have all my songs recorded on cassetes, how do I burn the songs from cassettes onto CD's?
Plug the output of the cassette recorder, that would normally go into your receiver, into the audio input of the CD recorder and then follow the directions in your CD recorder's manual (every CD recorder is slightly different).

Connect one end to the cassette players headphone output, and the other end to your pc's line in. Then use http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to record it.
I'm assuming you'd be using a pc cd-writer and not an external unit.

Why assume that? By the way, the proper term is "microcomputer", not "pc".

Because most people who ask how to get their cassette recordings onto cd, are actually wanting to know how to get it onto their pc and into wav wheras I'd imagine someone with a seperate unit would have more specific questions such and would be more likely to state they were using an external recording device.

you would hope that anyone with a seperate CD writer that they had bought would know how to connect a tape to it.
whats wrong with the term "PC"? It satnds for "personal computer", meaning a computer for domestic/business use. It was used quite correctly, and is a perfectly accepted word.
personal computer
n. Abbr. PC
A computer built around a microprocessor for use by an individual, as in an office or at home or school.

There are four kinds of computers: microcomputers, minicomputers, mainframes, and supercomputers. "PC" is not one of them. "PC" is the name of a long-ago-discontinued model of IBM microcomputer, after which it introduced the PC-AT and PC-XT. At best, using the term "PC" to mean "microcomputer" is like using the term "coke" to mean "soda".

Does it matter that in this thread I used the term 'pc' over micro-computer?
No.
/Case Closed.

One day I'm going to give the creators of Audacity a hi-5, I'm just waiting for them to add the zero crossing point in the wave display so I can cut some loops.

so, the dictionary lies, and you know better.
At very very worst (and this is not the case), PC could be accepted as a widely used slang term. as in, one that *everybody* uses. except you. We'd be more likely to ocnfuse him saying "plug it into your microcomputer" than saying plug it into your PC.
are you saying that to call a vacuum cleaner a hoover is totally unnaceptable, even though its a fully accepted term?
