Hi. Right now i just use a line 6 spider 2, so i use the fbv4. I hate only having 4 channels, so im thinking about getting multiple effect pedals. I was wondering how people like Tom Morello and Mike Einziger can switch between multiple effects with one touch. Say you have a distortion pedal and a chorus pedal. How would you go form distortion with no chorus to clean with chorus. Wouldnt you have to hit both pedals at the same time? im just wondering how they can go through all the effects so easily.

Jump on two pedals at once? :)
You might want to look into getting a multifx processor if you want to be able to quickly switch between patches of lots of effects.

threadstarter,
I highly suggest the FBV shortboard...it changes from having 4 channels to 36...
I own the shortboard and it works great...the only time I really have to actually touch the amp is to flip the power switch :thumb:
I tried multi-fx processors with the spider II before I got the shortboard and it usually sounds bad...get the shortboard...you'll be glad you did :)

I forget what they're call,ed, but there is such a devive that lets you stomp on it and it turns on an chain of effects, connected in arallel to your normal guitar. Boss make one built into a noise gate.
but, moello etc. will be using midi to do it. if you're playing a psider (not a dig at you) you can't afford to do that.

IMO its best to go with high-end multi effects.
if you are planning on spending less than £150 on effects then DO NOT get Multi-effects since they'll break quickly and sound cheap.
the Zoom GFX-8 is a VERY good multi effects pedal and its built like a tank. its pretty much the high quality of ZOOM rack effects, but in a pedal.
you can buy stompboxes (including ones by boss) which will switch multiple effects, i know that koRn used to use a few of them since they hated MIDI and MFX.
Most MFX hatred is the product of snobbery tho, as long as you spend more than £150 then the pedal will usually be of as good, or better quality than any single effects module.
moaner: yeah your right, he uses a MIDI board to switch multiple effects i think, same as petrucci :D

Sometimes I see people velcro a long bit of wood across the tops of the pedals. Stomping on the bit of wood will switch multiple pedals at once.
However.. I like MIDI.
