Hey guys this is my first thread, I have been looking around here for sometime now though. This is an excellent site!!
I just got a quick question!!!
I write songs pretty much on a daily basis, but I dont play any instrument. I would like to try and put some of these to music but I dont have anything to do it with. I have been looking at keyboards and synths but dont know the first thing about them. Do you think Im looking in the right direction? I just want something that i can get a beat with so I can get the feel for the outlay of the song. Any info would be great.

yes, get a cheap keyboard, guitar and bass.........start noodling, and youre on your way
OR any other instrument that you hear in youre head........and also, be sure to record any ideas that you get (just hum them into a mic or whatever) as soon as you get them, the quicker you can record youre ideas ,the better

Get a midi keyboard and Reason 2.5 and you'll be laughing.

yeah, a keyboard and some recording software like "audacity" will have you set for home composing.

in the future, consider buying yourself a fourtrack, like the tascam MFP 01 (not too expensive, £90ish) and a vocal mic (like a behringer one).

Thanks for the help guys!! i have been looking at the Tascam portastudio 5 and the tascam vocal trainer. I think I could have alot of fun with those to devices. Again thanks I really apreciate it.

If you want to spend the money something like Cubase might be useful, people at my school with no musical talent at all can use it, so I'm sure you would have not trouble with it. And I'm not sure but it may be cheaper than a Midi keyboard (I've never really looked how much they cost).

Cubase costs a small fortune I believe.
