What is it about?

Well it portrays the drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island individuals who are shattered when their addictions become stronger.

Requiem For A Dream shows the brutal honest side of addiction and over-indulgence. Not just drugs, although it heavily shows drug addiction. Also shows how one addiction can lead to another and how damaging it can be for you. I watched this alone, and felt so stunned afterwards, I had to call a friend just to calm my nerves. Seriously, this is a brutal (one more time) BRUTAL film. The acting is wonderful - Ellyn Burnstyn and Jenniffer Connely are just wonderful in this movie, and Marlon Wayons was such a shocker in a serious role. Everyone must watch it, for it's entertainment value, and more importantly, it's educational value. But it leaves chills down your spine for it's honesty and unforgiving lessons.

And if this gives you anymore incentive to watch it, at the end jennifer connely and some other women have sex in front of a hundred horney men. (If you are into that kind of stuff). But If that gets you to watch it, so be it. It's a really powerful movie.

It was pretty sad.

I heard about it, I love movies that stun you afterwards. Only some films can do that for me. Vanilla Sky being one of them.

I loved it, but I have to wait awhile before watching it again because it's so intense.

Yeah, it's a great movie.

Darron Aronofsky is so good at blending sound and visuals to create something really powerful and intense.

I don't really care for Aronofsky's movies. I preferred Pi over Requiem but still didn't really care for it.

I thought the portrayel of the characters was just unrealistic. I couldn't feel any sympathy for them, especially the guy's mom who goes crazy.

What movies are there thay you have sympathy for the characters? This isn't an "omg how dare you say that!" reply, i'm just curious because I thought they were very sympathetic characters.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

I guess I just don't feel sorry for them because they drove themself to their ends. All of them (except the old lady) consciously went into their demise. I just felt these were all unnecessary conditions they put themselves under so as to result in how they did. Now, the two movies I cited at top, the characters had no choice in their situation.

Requiem is one of the best movies ever made! So far it's the only film that has made me feel both emotionally and physically sick by the end. And the soundtrack is just about second to none.

Very powerful film. As one of my friends described "heart-destroying."

Fair enough.

I heard it took them a year to get the sound effects right. Is that true? If so then wow thats dedication :thumb:

It hasn't made me sick, but I smoked less doobie in the aftermath.

And if you are expecting a hot love scene with Jennifer Connolly ...

She and another girl **** each other witha double dildo ...

:nau....pset:

I really liked being able to watch their individual decay.
The symbolisms and music are exceptional, too.
