Anyone hear Social D's cover of Death Or Glory?

Oh, man, it's good.

And seeing as I created the thread, I'll police any crap in case of absences from the ho's here.

P.S. check out Strummersite for info on 101'ers material/Viva Joe Strummer.

If you could somehow hook me up with an mp3 to the Social Distortion cover, I would give you imaginary rep and butt secks.

Sigh, butt secks. The old n3rd joke.

I was listening to t3h Clash today in the car on my way home from Tai Chi.
My Tai Chi instructor likes them.
C00l m@n I must say.

It's on the Lords Of Dogtown soundtrack coming soon, so maybe check that out sometime. Until then, just look around for it, because someone will have it eventually.

I'm back from my Green Day (yes, i like them enough to do that) road trip...I met the guys after the show...no, it's a lie.I didn't really met them cause there were ****ing fences and curtains cause the security didnt wanted us to see them walking to their buses...but me and my friends started taking off the curtains (its complicated to do), and everyone else did the same...and when Tre walked to his bus, he helped us to take them off...and I talked to him through the fence, and it went kinda like that:

-Hey, great show...but why don't you tell the security to take off these ****ing fences...we won't kill you, people are here to talk to you and we've been waiting for 2 hours.

- Well, I can't do anything about it

-I'm sure you can, they'll listen to you. It's YOUR staff. It's not how it's supposed to be between a band and their fans.Bands like The Clash tried to fought against that all their lives.Joe Strummer rolls in his grave.

-(...)Shut up.Shut up.

-Yeah sure. (**dissapointed eyes to make him feel bad.I failed miserably**

We drove all the way to the show, almost died in a car crash, we were in the back so we didnt see most of the show, but we were happy anyway...and he's a complete *******.meh.I was talking about it with a guy, and we came to the conclusion that no matter how much green day have been inspired by the clash, they kinda suck anyway.Joe would have kicked their ***

And I forced my friends to listen to the clash on our way there and they liked it.

Flagjacket
05-03-2005, 02:28 PM
Wow. It took you an entire road trip and a concert to figure out that the Clash pwn Green Day? I like Green Day, but I've always known that the Clash > them.

Ahhh, well its aight then.

123, Joe would've hit them upside the head with his Telecaster.

And that Green Day guy actually told you to shut up? If so, he's a douche, and a shitty drummer. Like the Lamborghini guy.

Coma_Girl
05-03-2005, 03:40 PM
No, no matter how hard I try, I can't hate him. I know he shouldnt tell stuff like that to his fans, but I love him anyway...I'm way too nice. :upset: I feel bad for what I told him though...I pretty much told him he just sucked. He's not a ****ty drummer...Maybe he was just tired, or maybe he has a weird humor sense.Who knows. But he's not like the LB at all.

CombatRock
05-03-2005, 04:18 PM
no, that was preety stupid of him just to blow his fans off like that. that made me lose all the respect i had for the guy.

Forest_Fire
05-03-2005, 04:23 PM
You have to look at it from his perspctive though. I'm sure he has kids come up to him all the time and tell him that Green Day sucks, or they sold out, or punks hate them blah blah blah. That's gotta be stressful when you are doing what you love.

But then again, I'm sure he could've done something instead of be an a'sshole

sketchyjoe
05-03-2005, 04:24 PM
He's in a pop band. What else is he going to do?

guns_of_brixton
05-03-2005, 04:25 PM
I don't know, but if a band member refused to talk to me after a show I would have no respect for them, considering I paid to see them.

And I guess he's not a shitty drummer, but Topper>him for sure.

Coma_Girl
05-03-2005, 04:33 PM
well, he talked to me.but he stopped when i decided to criticize the security...but dustin is right, he sees kids like me every night...he doesnt care if i come home thinking he shouldnt have been mean to me cause if he feels nice tomorrow, he can be nice to people and maybe 15 other kids will come back home thinking he's the nicest guy ever.

anyway, back to the clash now.

SlappedByTheClash
05-03-2005, 04:40 PM

Yeah, but their was one time where they invited some fans back and ended up smearing sandwiches all over him and their driver beat him up.

Yeah, I think it was mostly the driver's fault, but The Clash let it happen.

what's an acid test?

A test they did in the 60s and 70s with LSD and other types of drugs named "acids". Psycadelic drugs and such. A doctor (can't remember his name, wrote a book called Electric Kool Aid something or other) used to give acid to some people and watch how they reacted etc.

Brain Toad
05-05-2005, 03:39 PM
Remember this was the 60s and 70s, acid was still in its testing stages and they were not sure what exactly it could do. It is the same for most other drugs on the market. Cocaine was given to many patients for pain, the same with herion until the addicitive properties were releised.

Acid is by far one of the safer of the man man drugs, not as many bad chemicals as say cocaine, herion, and meth.

But this is off topic, so I shall stop.

Bad trips do happen, but are few and far between. Heatlh classes in the US now are pretty much useless. I'm in favour of Jello's sex and drug education classes, where real life examples are used (kids get to try drugs and sex first hand to learn them)

The Clash don't seem like a band who would do too many of the hard drugs. It just doesn't seem them to me. I couldn't imagine Joe becomming a herion addict like so many other rock stars.

And I've realized how bad a drummer he really is. He played the drums on Capital Radio One and Topper played them on Capital Radio Two, and Topper is just messing around with the beat and showing how much better he was than the LG.

Yeah, if you watch him on the essential clash playing Career Opportunities, he's barely keeping up.

Topper would've pwned that beat.

I think if they had re-recorded their first songs with Topper, they would've sounded so much better.

But they also would've sold out. So it's good they didn't.

Mes·ca·le·ro Pronunciation Key (msk-lār)
n. pl. Mescalero or Mes·ca·le·ros

1. An Apache tribe formerly inhabiting southern New Mexico, western Texas, and north-central Mexico, with a present-day population in southern New Mexico.
2. A member of this tribe.

That may help.

I've been getting into the Clash latly. My mate is a big fan, and I decied I'd take a listen.

It's weird with the Clash, because some of their tunes are just supeerior to others. I like obviously most of their popular ones, like;

I fought the law.
London calling.
Rock the Casbah.
Revolution Rock.
Know your rights.
Brand new cadalic.
White riot.
Should I stay or should I go?

Anybody suggest some more tunes I should get hold of? I wanna' get some albums soon.

White Riot!

Tommy Gun
Safe European Home
Stay Free
White Man In Hammersmith Palais

Straight To Hell
Washington Bullets
Lovers Rock
Jimmy Jazz (hella good)
Wrong Em Boyo (cover)

A test they did in the 60s and 70s with LSD and other types of drugs named "acids". Psycadelic drugs and such. A doctor (can't remember his name, wrote a book called Electric Kool Aid something or other) used to give acid to some people and watch how they reacted etc.
Acid Test usually refers to how gold was tested for authenticity. It would be dropped in acid and if it dissolved it wasn't gold. So the phrase acid test has come to mean the ultimate test or test that really proves something once and for all.

Joey Ramone said something about everyone wanting to look like the Ramones. I don't agree, they were pretty ugly.

Dee Dee wasn't that bad looking. I stole a white board eraser thing from school yesterday. it will be good to paint with.

Oh my favorite Clash song at the moments is Career Opportunities. I had to write an essay today about jobs and I added in at the end the "career opportunities are the ones the never knock." Unfortunately it was a shitty essay.

Coma_Girl
05-11-2005, 09:02 PM
from what I remember, SS is Hitler's army or something like that. I don't remember if it was his personal army, or just the army of the country. But it wasn't a ship...or maybe my history teacher really sucks.
