I'm running a behringer v-ampire (don't laugh) direct to a fostex MR-8 (once again, don't laugh) I can't really mic it because i all i have is a 30 dollar vocal mic, and when i mic my amp, it sounds so muffled and dull. I also run a bass thru some crat, i dunno what it is, and some CAD drum mics into the MR-8, too, and i was just wondering how to, with the available equipment, make my home recordings sound as good as possible

1. shuttup. no-ones laughing. behringer v-ampire range offers amazing value for money and pwns pretty much all ss amps in an even vaguely similar price range.
the v-ampire has a line out with cab modelling. plug that into your fostex.

I run direct, i'm not an idiot. it just sounds really hollow and there's too much treble.

E.Q. it...
Oh, a fostex MR8...*
Upload it to pc and alter the E.Q. in something like audacity, but audacity's e.q. is probably best to minor adjustments, any large adjustments can cause bad effects on the sound, so maybe consider a 60 pound or so behringer 5 band e.q. rack unit and running things through there.
You'll want to boost you low-mid frequency to give it warmth, treble is horrible without decent bass and treble is the more painful to listen to than bass, however with more bass, you will not notice the contrast.
*Sorry, I really am, I just couldn't help myself, you'll forgive me one day.
