Anyone else a fan of B-Movies?

I personally am a big fan of the '50's creature films. (It Came From Beneath The Sea, Them! etc.etc...)

What are some of your favourite B-movies?

It's just as campy as one, but I'm not sure if it's considered a B-movie but: Reefer Madness is definitely hysterical.

The Abominable Dr Phibes
The Toxic Avenger part IV: Citizen Toxie
Most Vincent Price and Troma, actually.
Classics like the Evil Dead trilogy, etc, which don't really need mentioning.

There's plenty more that I know plenty about but which I can't find to buy, and so haven't seen.

Vincent Price is the best. His voice is great.

...come to think about it, he has some of the best B-movies out there; The Tingler, House on Haunted Hill, The Last Man on Earth. He's my favorite of the oldies like Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, and Bela Lugosi.

 yeah many B-horror movies are better than A ones, don't know why, its just many B-movie directors seem to have more passion for the genre I guess. Braindead is one of the best b-movies ever! rep++ :thumb:

You usually find the real movie gems among B-movies.. Since most A-movie directors "play it safe"

This thread is a bit like a thread with the topic "anyone fan of underground music?"

What happend to the whole thing that Peter Jackson was going to take almost all the money he made from lord of the rings and make one of the goriest movies ever?

or was that just made up?

*hopes it wasn't*

I hadn't heard that, but now that I have, I also hope it wasn't.

I haven't heard that either - I doubt he can make a more gorier (or funnier) movie than Braindead. I've heard his next project is the remake of King Kong (which I'm kind of negative about since I'm not a big fan of remakes, especially since the original film is such a masterpiece it will be very hard to emulate).

From what I've seen, King Kong looks like it might be pretty cool.

Yeah, dog soldiers is cool. I wanted to go see it when it first came out but my friends decided they didn't want to see it and I ended up seeing the poor excuse for a film that was Panic Room. At least I got to see it eventually when it was out on DVD.

I think the next two movie projects from Peter Jackson is King Kong, and The Hobbit. Never heard the thing about the goriest movie ever, but man, if that's true, we're gonna get our balls rocked

I'd laugh if he turned the hobbit into the goriest movie ever. Bilbo "bloodthirsty" Baggins.

Ever try looking for them on Ebay? I used to have the same problem, util I realized you can find a lot of old VHS copies of B-movies on Ebay, usually for one cent (plus S&H). They're usually sold by wholesale sellers, making them incredibly cheap.

Fortunately, I live close to an old video store, which has many, many old VHS B-Horror films. Here a nice few I've come across...

The Being
Return Of The Aliens: The Deadly Spawn
Death Curse Of Tartu
Body Melt
The Willies
The Stuff

They all come in that nice, old-school clamshell case, too. :)

I have bought a fair few from eBay in my time (being in England makes it even more difficult to get a hold of such things, I think), but I'm usually quite adamant about getting them on DVD, which reduces my options.

Sometimes you have to settle for a VHS copy when it comes to really unknown, really limited release titles.

Although I know what you mean, especially since usually when they release b-movies on DVD, they tend to come with juicy extras and, of course, better sound and picture.
