Hey, this is my all time favorite movie. What do you guys think of it? What about the meaning of the ending? What do you think about it? I have watched it SO many times and still am not bored of it, will I ever be? :thumb:

It was a good film but I think it's a little bit overrated, people rave about it too much.

Good movie, but when will the threads about it end?

When the horse is dead get off - "When the horse is dead get off". In this case Donnie Darko threads being the horse.

Listen to the directors' commentary and read "The Philosophy Of Time Travel". You'll understand the movie completely and have no need to make threads like these.

I think this is a good film, it took me a second viewing to understand a lot of it.

Is a good film... but I don't think it merits the cult status it's gained.

It's ok, that's it...ok.

At first you're like, "Oh, what happened?" then you figure it out, and you are sorely dissappointed afterwards. It's too much "oh look at me, I like this movie with a very deep enigmatic coded storyline" for my liking.

Go watch Dark city, better stroyline that's easy to follow and IMO is one the better movies ever made.

I love it endlessly, and I suggest people watching the director's cut cause of the little extra bits.

Mullholland Drive is way better for that kind of movie.

Its good but not great. The only thing I didn't understand is why so many people don't understand it?

I love this movie. It's nearly flawless and managed to leave the idea of "genres" behind.
After a single viewing, plus some reading online, I understand the movie.

I understand it perfectly but i just don't think it's as good a film as it's made out to be.

I think it's going to be this decade's Fight Club, in the way people identify with it. Though not as good as Fight Club.

because it's like the matrix, it tries to hard to be deep and confusing, but if you pay attention, it's just pretentious bollocks

Except the Matrix was crap. At least Donnie Darko didn't lecture you for 10 minutes on the cod philosophy of cake orgasms.

No, but what it did do was not make up its mind about what it wanted to portray as time travel. All in all, Donnie Darko is at best an abstraction along the lines of a dream.*

What was Frank's purpose? He saved Donnie, only to be shot- though he knew he'd be shot. So why did he save Donnie? Well, you could argue it was so that Gretchen would get involved and die, therefore leading to his own death...causing Donnie to change the path he eaehuheauh It's stupid. I'll watch it again just to make sure. I was gonna run to Blockbuster to see if they had Cirque de Soleil movies anywho.

*If this was the movie's intent, I apoligize.

I think it's a fun movie, I love the opening shot over the valley, it's really nice looking. I enjoy the storyline but I'm not fan of all the over-analysis that goes into talking about the movie.
