That was a great preview, thanks for that.
I was only a little let down by Marv. A guy like that isn't going to be so dramatic in physical motions. Other than that, I'm still deeply impressed by this.

Other people that read comics!
I've made other comic threads in the past, and thought no one else even read them here. I'm checking out the preview right now... looks great!
in other news, anyone know anything about the V for Vendetta movies or the new Batman? The picture I saw from Vendetta had V with a mustache... doesn't look good.

...and for Batman
Batman Begins
Release Date: June 17th, 2005 (wide)
Release Date Notes: (10/3/03) There have been conflicting reports (at least one of them originating from within Warner Bros. itself) that this film is aiming for either July 1st, 2005 (a Friday) or July 4th, 2005 (a Monday). The 1st seems more likely, but there have been rare cases in the past when movies were released on the 4th even though it fell on an unusual movie release day (Die Hard 2: Die Harder was the most-profile one; it was released on a Tuesday). Indiana Jones 4 is also aiming for that weekend, and it is equally unclear as to whether WB intends to release it on Friday the 1st or Monday the 4th. My hunch is that it is the 1st in both cases; but my more relevant hunch is that ultimately, one of these movies will flinch. I think it's unlikely both movies would open against each other. Who will make the first move now that the game is on? (12/23/03) The "game" has gotten even more intense, with the news that 20th Century Fox is now hoping to release their own colossal superhero movie, Fantastic Four, on that same weekend. (2/15/04) The race has been narrowed down now to just the two superhero movies, following the news that Indiana Jones 4 won't make a 2005 release. (4/9/04) And so that whole competition is over now, as WB moves this superhero movie up two weeks to June 17th. Fantastic Four may now have the 4th of July weekend to itself (for now), but it's also faced with the challenge of opening in the shadow of 'Batman.' Touche.
Title Note: (9/3/03) According to a completely unconfirmed scoop over at AICN, the current working title may be 'Batman: Intimidation.' (9/11/03) IGN FilmForce reports that the title may actually be 'Batman: Intimidation Game.' Thus far, Warner Bros. has made no official statement or confirmation of any sort of title, except to call it the 'next Batman movie.' (9/29/03) For now, I'm going with 'Intimidation' as many sites are. (2/12/04) FilmJerk.com reports that the full title is 'Batman: The Intimidation Game.' (2/23/04) Multiple sources are reporting that the title may soon be changed to 'Batman Begins.' I'm guessing that *some* sort of title will be confirmed by WB soon, so I'm going to list this movie as just plain 'Batman' for a while. (3/4/04) 'Batman Begins' has been confirmed.
MPAA Rating Note: (6/2/03) Nothing's official until the MPAA sees the final cut, but it is extremely likely that Warner Bros. will be aiming for a PG-13.
Distributor: Warner Bros.
Production Company: DiBonaventura Pictures (G.I. Joe, Constantine)
Cast: Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman), Ken Watanabe (Ra's Al Ghul), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), Rutger Hauer, Katie Holmes (Rachel Dodson), Cillian Murphy (Dr. Jonathan Crane), Liam Neeson (Ducard), Gary Oldman (Sgt. Jim Gordon), Tom Wilkinson (Carmine Falcone)
Cast Notes: (2/10/04) (To conserve space here, the previous casting notes are now located in the "Greg's Preview Thoughts" column over on the left.) (2/12/04) According to a recent rumor at Dark Horizons, Laurence Fishburne may be in talks for the recurring supporting character of Lucius Fox for the next three movies. In the comics, Lucius Fox is the man who actually runs Wayne Enterprises for Bruce so he can concentrate on fighting crime. The bigger news, however, is that Liam Neeson has officially signed on to play one of the film's villains, which appears likely to be Ra's Al Ghul himself. I've got to say... Neeson is an *excellent* choice. (2/18/04) Instead of Laurence Fishburne, the role of Lucius Fox has gone to Morgan Freeman, who was once rumored to be in talks for some sort of doctor or scientist role (which Lucius Fox isn't). Might Viggo Mortensen still be in talks to play Ra's al Ghul as once rumored/reported? (2/23/04) In a particularly inspired casting choice, Warner Bros. has decided to go with the actor who did such a great job playing the title character of The Last Samurai... Ken Watanabe. Watanabe stole the show from his American costar, Tom Cruise, and should be AWESOME as Ra's al Ghul. Heck, I think in the past, he's even sported that funky facial hair style that Ra's has (tufts of hair sticking out from his lower cheek). Also, Cinescape reports that after months of rumors that he might do so, Dennis Quaid is indeed in talks to play police officer Jim Gordon, who will go on someday to become the city's police commissioner. (3/4/04) Talks with Quaid apparently fell through at the last minute, because Gary Oldman has officially signed on to play Jim Gordon instead.
Director: Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia, Following)
Screenwriter: David S. Goyer (Blade, Blade II, Death Warrant, The Crow: City of Angels, Freddy vs Jason; he's also got Blade: Trinity coming before this) and Christopher Nolan (Memento, Following)
Screenwriter Note: (6/2/03) Recently, before David S. Goyer was announced as the screenwriter of this project, a script appeared online called 'Batman: The Frightening' which may have been a spec script that Warner Bros. optioned (or not), with there being conflicting reports about who might have written it. This script, which is available to read over at Batman-on-Film.com, focuses on the Scarecrow as the main villain, with a small role for the Joker. It will not be used for this movie, but it is the origin of rumors that Nolan and Goyer may be using the Scarecrow as the villain. Something that is worth remembering is that rumors that the Scarecrow would be the next Batman villain go all the way back to 1997, when there was talk of the "next George Clooney movie" after Batman and Robin (such talk stopped after that movie flopped critically, becoming the target of fan derision). (11/28/03) According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Christopher Nolan is also working on the script with Mr. Goyer.
Based Upon: (6/2/03) This movie is, of course, based upon the character of Batman, which has been published in a variety of comic books by DC Comics since 1939 ("Detective Comics" #27).
Sequel Notes: (12/16/03) While talking to About.com this week, Michael Caine revealed that he has already signed on for two possible sequels (a career first for him!).
TV Show Note: (4/12/02) Apprently hoping to reach young fans who might grow up to keep loving 'Batman' and to also reach fans of all ages in the year of the movie's release, WB has announced plans for a new animated series on the Cartoon Network called 'The Batman' which will be set during Year Three of Bruce Wayne's relatively young crime-fighting career. You can find the preliminary cast list over at Cinescape.com.
Premise: When fate prevents him from avenging the deaths of his parents, young Bruce Wayne (Bale) flees to Asia where he seeks counsel from a dangerous ninja cult leader known as Ra's al Ghul (Watanabe). When he returns, Bruce finds that Gotham City has become overrun with crime and corruption, and that there are forces at work trying to remove him from his inherited place as the owner of Wayne Industries. Discovering a cave under Wayne Manor, Bruce assumes a new identity as a secret detective and guardian of the people of Gotham City against the criminals that plague them... (source: IGN FilmForce)
Premise Notes: (9/11/03) Warner Bros. is being very tight-lipped about what exactly this take on the 'Batman' legacy is like, except that it will focus on the younger Batman (ie, not long after the setting of Batman: Year One). What is definitely known is that this film will follow one of the adventures of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, whose obsession with bringing justice to the evil-doers of Gotham City compels him to fight crime as Batman, master detective. There have long been rumors that the villain (or at least one of them) will be the Scarecrow, who uses drugs and chemicals to alter people's perception of reality, sending them into nightmare-like hallucinations. Harry Knowles of AICN is also reporting that another villain will be Ra's Al Ghul, an international criminal mastermind obsessed with taking over the world (and maintaining his immortality, after having lived 600+ years). Knowles also reports that much of the film will be set in London. The appearance of Ra's Al Ghul also suggests that his daughter, Talia (whom Bruce Wayne has had a romantic relationship in the comics), will also be featured. (11/21/03) Potentially clarifying the situation quite a bit, Cinescape reports that the Scarecrow may indeed be in the movie as the villain in the introductory scenes that establish the new Batman (in Gotham City), before he moves on to his next case in London involving Ra's Al Ghul, in which Ra's would then be the primary villain for the rest of the movie. (2/12/04) The super-spoiler-filled information posted last month at Dark Horizons has been confirmed as accurate. Basically, it's an origin story with Ra's al Ghul as the main villain and Jonathan Crane (AKA the Scarecrow) as a secondary villain though he's apparently not called the Scarecrow in the script. (3/26/04) Earlier this month, IGN FilmForce received a synopsis of the story which ties some of the known elements together.
Filming: Production started on March 3rd, 2004 in Iceland. After two weeks there, filming starts on March 16th, 2004 at the Shepperton Studios near London on a budget of $120+ million. There will also then be some filming in New York City, with the final leg of filming expected to be in Chicago in late July or August.

I hope the matrix guys don't screw up the masterpiece that is V for Vendetta. I didn't care much for the trilogy.

Yeah, I guess that sounded dumb, as all bad movies are... well, bad. But it seems especially that comic movies don't turn out great.
