Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War

Does anyone else like this game? I just uh.. got it.. and I stayed up all night with my friend playing LAN games. We played a 203 minute game, and at the end we just decided to call it a draw because my base was so heavily defended that he would never get in, but I had no offensive capabilities so I'd never beat him. It's a sweet game, much better then C&C in my opinion.

Yeah it's a good game, but like all other strategy games, the honeymoon doesn't last. The Space Marines and Eldar are awesome and the Orcs are ok (they're the hardest race to use). The Chaos though, man, they suck so much. There was so much potential with them. They could ahve used Plague Marines, Khrone Bezzerkers, Noise Marines and had better Obliterators. But no, they got put with the worst part of the crew, the demons. I was so disappointed. The Chaos is nothing like the actual figures that you paint. *sigh*

This game is the awesomeness. I play it a lot with a bunch of mates online had some epic 8 player free for alls. I was never really into the little figures and all that so I quite like the chaos stuff. Possessed demons are fun, lots of fun.

My brother has it, very nice game with excellent graphics. I've only had the chance to play it for an hour or two but I was impressed.

I use to, I still have my Chaos army in my room. And I have a few of the old Tyrannyds (spelling?). I guess I'm disappointed in the Chaos because I know what it could have been. Chaos for the table game is one of the best armies to have.

I used to play Warhammer and WH40K tabletop strats but after I moved to Kentucky I couldn't find anyone to play with, so my hobby kinda died. I still have my old figures, and I pull them out every now and then and paint some more night goblins. I love my gobbo army ^.^

I started playing again in September, but then when I realised how boring painting is, my interest kinda died again.

Spending money on drugs and JD is such a better way to pass time :)

Yeah, I got this game awhile I ago, and I had like a weekend lan at my friend's apartment and all we played was this game. This game is one of the nicer RTS' out there.


Did you know that they are making a Warhammer Online MMO I believe.

Well I should be getting my new CPU/motherboard tommorow, which means I'll be able to finally use my new RAM. So after that if anyone wants to play some direct IP games I'm up for it.

Well I'm currently only running a Pentium 2.26 with 256 RAM. My video card is an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro though, so that's another 128 RAM. I can run it pretty well, it takes a while to load and freezes occasionally but it's not too bad. 512 RAM and a Pentium 3.2 should do wonders for it. :cool:

Yea it's the same type of game as Command and Conquer. Real time strategy. There's four races, I think the Eldar are the best.

I don't have the skill for Eldar. I get distracted to easily to simultaneously concentrate on dropping Webways everywhere and ambushing the enemy from 6 directions. I play Marines myself....and not that well.

Haha, well I don't play them very well either.. but with practice they are definitely the best race. It's pretty sweet to build a webway then warp in like 20 turrets right next to an enemy base. :lol:

I agree. Fire Prisms are fun, I don't find them that good but they have more potential to piss someone off than any other unit.

Sledgehammer tactics. Good early on (they start with actual troops, which no on else does), worse later on. Wartraks rock though.

I play this game a ton as well.

I find it much more enjoyable to play a co-op game against a bunch of computer controlled opponents.

At least there is a guarenteed end. Games like this are somewhat more fun, as well as quicker, when it's co-op.

Head to head games take forever unless everyone on both sides are totally ruthless.

Yea, head to head games go on for a looong time if they ever do end.

In this game did they make the Space marines stupidly powerful?

In the table top games the Space Marines are so powerful, the game is totally unbalanced.

No, Marines are awful in the game IMO.

They're not so overpowered now, especially with the new Codex I imagine (I didn't actually see it).

Its just really unfaithful to the tabletop game.

Well i finished single player today, that sucked lol, seemed too rushed and all the missions were basically the same.

I guess multiplayer is where it really comes into its own.

We should get a 2 on 2 or something going sometime.
