It's alright, but it's repetitive. I think it might be from their acoustic days.

And has anyone here been a fan since SSTB, or did everyone jump on after a favor house atlantic?

Well I got into them about a year and a half ago after hearing Devil In Jersey City so I bought SSTB but I wasn't even aware that they had another album until I saw IKSO... online one day and bought it.

the first songs i ever heard from them were casseopia, and hearshot kid disaster and i believe that was back in about march or april of 2003. Then i heard the crowing and thought that it was awesome. i like all of their stuff and im reallly picky when it comes to loving a band.

I read a comment in rock and metal that Claudio's vocals are earbleeding.Maybe to a die hard metalhead they are but I think he has a terrific voice. Also I would like to ask you guys would I like SSTB if I liked IKSOSE 3?Are they similar?

DJ Ducksauce

I think that SSTB is harder to get into than IKSSE:3. It's still great none the less. And it has DIJC.

Electric Ocean
07-11-2005, 08:27 AM
I personally prefer SSTB it feels like more of an entity and is easier to listen to all in one go, and yeah, I'm pretty sure you'd like it if you liked IKSOSE:3 but it might take slightly longer to get into.

Almost all metal singers ive heard suck anyways. Also, you shouldnt have a problem with SSTB if you liked IKSOSE, but they do sound a little different. I actually prefer SSTB.

SSTB is a lot lighter with the music for the most part, but thats because of where the story's going at the time. thery still have the dark moments like on Everything Evil.

IKSOSE3 is very dark, i think that adds to the whole atmosphere of the album. to me, when i listen to it, i get the feeling that the keywork is at war, just from the music on some songs.
i also love the way they make a song that sounds light hearted actually be hugly dark. everyone in the band has so much talent.

Three evils, amirite or amirite?

And i think the story of SSTB, with Coheed killing his kids, is darker than all the war in IKSOSE. Thats why i thought it was funny the music wasnt as heavy in SSTB as it was in IKSOSE.

DepthsOfDreams555
07-12-2005, 04:36 PM
ya they really made it not as heavy...i do like SSTB better then IKSOSE but it took me a really long time to really like all the tracks on the cd like i bought it when it first came out but i only listened to like time consumer and devil in jersey city but i guess i jus liked all the IKSOSE tracks because i was already so into coheed......from the some of the samples off of cobalt from the new cd and it sounds like almost a mix but it sounded pretty heavy but the quality of the music is so crappy but im really lookin forward to the new cd

Try Cobalt and Calcium (http://www.cobaltandcalcium.com). Their forums are a great place to learn about the story, and people post tons of theories on songs there. The only songs we know the story behind FOR SURE are Time Consumer, Devil in Jersey City, and its seems like most of Everything Evil.

Maybe a little later ill post the overview of the story behind them for you.

On that CD:

The crowing
2113 (track 23)
Cuts Marked In The March Of Men

I liked all of it though, so you might as well give it a listen. If youre looking for things to download from their other CD, try:

Time Consumer
Devil In Jersey City
Everything Evil
33
Junesong Provision

But again, i liked every song on that album as well, so its not like ther est of the stuff is bad.

Nope, you have all of the songs except 2113.

tracks 12 through 22 are just a few seconds of silence, 2113 is a not-so-hidden hidden song.

I still like In Keeping Secrets...(the song) better than Welcome Home. I like most of the song, I just don't really like the guitar solo, I'm not really into Coheed as a band doing the whole generic crap (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, chorus, crappy solo). I like most of the rest of the song though. I just have a phobia of guitar solos, especially when I don't hear them often with the band.

Im checking out the lyrics to it.

Hwat do you all think its about? Claudio sid the CD is from the writers perspective, and if oyu have the first comic, the narrator is either the unnamed boy that is with jesse or claudio. I dont know if he means it like that (the narrator) or if he means the perosn writing the fictional story. If he menas a person writing a fiction story in the real world, ten the song is obvioulsy killing off a character that is causing troubles with the storywriting process.

I really don't know.
But, of course, notice how some of the lyrics are wrong. I can't hear it and say "It's supposed to say 'this' instead of 'that'" but I can hear it and say "That's not what's written infront of me". One line that I do know the difference between, is "But you took the time to do..." is actually supposed to read "But you, just as I presumed...". Listen to it, and try to tell me I'm wrong.
And on another note... does anybody else realize that this song is actually Anything For You/Kashmire but under a different name? I still love it, but this is really a studio recording of it with a few added elements and a new name.
*shrugs* Meh. Still kicks ***. :thumb:

You could've been all i wanted
But you weren't honest
now get in the ground
You choked off the surest of favors
but if you really loved me
you would have endured my world
well if youre just as i presumed
a whore in Sheeps clothing
****ing up all i do
And if so here we stop
then never again
will you see this in your light

hang on to the glory of my right hand
here lay to rest is our love everlong
we're two from shores of compassion
you seemed to take premise to all of these souls

you stormed off to scar the armada
(like Jesus plagued letter, like Jesus they nailed her, like Jesus played let her, like Jesus they lay there, like Jesus bled later?)
I'll drill through your hands
the stone for curse you have blamed me
with love and devotion
you'll die as you sleep
but if you could just write me up
to never mis wander
happy will I become
be true that this is no option
so its in , condemn you
demon raging in love

hang on to the glory of my right hand

here lay to rest is our love everlong
we're two from shores of compassion
you seemed to take premise to all of these souls

one last kiss for you
one more waste to you
please make up your mind girl
id do anything for you

one last kiss for you
one more waste to you
please make up your mind girl
before i hope you die

**This is the most correct version of the lyrics except the Jesus line**

Any thinking on what the song means in terms of the story?

TMA
07-14-2005, 02:27 PM
Well, more then anything, it's obviously all about Newo and Claudio. The way I see it, it's supposed to be that Newo did something to really piss Claudio off, like maybe betrayed him in some way, and he's kind of telling her to f*ck off.

cobert
07-14-2005, 03:36 PM
Any thinking on what the song means in terms of the story?

I think this 'writers perspective' thing means that the writer, real-life claudio, uses characters in his sci-fi story that represent real people in his life to express how he feels towards them. I think in the real-life part of the story, claudios fly honey (newo) cheated on him, so he killed off her character in the story. Notice the lines "but if you really loved me, you would have endured my world", referring to the world he created where he plays god and everything can go his way, and "Hang on to the glory of my right hand", which is the hand he writes with, meaning he doesnt really want to kill her off.

Also,Ive seen plenty of theories that claudio in the sci-fi story is the coming of god talked about in the comics (if man interferes with gods work, god will something something blah blah use the fires of sirius blahblah). This makes my idea work better, because 'god' of the sci-fi world would be real-life claudio, and his influence on the story would be sci-fi claudio, making the sci-fi claudio god in character form.

Whaddaya think?

Coheed and cambria make concept albums taht revolve around a massive sci-fi story, and coheed and cambria were the main characters for the first CD whose only living child is the main character in the second CD.

did anyone else know about this? i'm excited that theres going to be more than 4 coheed albums, which i kinda knew was going to happen already, but i really wanted to know what was going on at the end of this CD. i was expecting some huge battle at the end, and now i have to wait over a year again for the other half, or maby the other third, i guess we wont know.

i saw them live last friday at soma.

They opened up with Welcome Home. It was funny watching the crowd where nobody knew the lyrics. Then they played Devil in Jersey City and it started rockin the place.

Then at the end they played 21:13 which was sick, and they went into like some 12 minute jam session and i got pissed of listening to them try to improv. They have a decent bassist, an okay lead guitar player, and an amazing drummer, but claudio thinks he is better than he is at playing guitar. He took too many solos in that 12 minute jam. He had three 1 minute solos. I think more than their lead guitar player.

****, I just visted their site, and the opening page is awesome. Their new stuff sounds like a rock opera sorta, it's amazing. I remember them playing that song at their concert, but of course they didn't have the orchestra thing behind them. I'm loving the metal guitar squeel thing. It sounds very different then their other stuff.

History
Often referred to as the "Apollo of Dogs", the Great Dane we know today is thought to be originally bred in Germany for hunting large wild boar. The origin of the "Dane" appellation is unclear; the breed almost certainly did not originate in Denmark, and indeed is still known in German as the Deutsche Dogge and in French as the Dogue Allemand, both meaning "German mastiff".

Okay, here goes....

-When coheed see's his 2 youngest children dead after he poisons them, he says 'Maria my star, Matthew goodnight'.

DEVIL IN JERSEY CITY

-I think the 'speak up let out' part in DIJC is reffering to josephine not wanting to go near the abandoned warehouses with patrick.

-Obvioulsy, 'Devil In Jersey City' is reffering to the biker gang that rapes josie, anmed the 'Jersey City Devils'.

-The 'Down on teh floor, bleeding bastard' pat in teh song is referring to patrick getting jayed in his face, and being unconcious while josie gets raped, and his anger afterwards.

-the 'TAKE, ME, HOME!!!' part is about josie just wanting to see her parents after the entire mess.

EVERYTHING EVIL

-The creaking door in the song is cambria coming in to the kitchen to see josephine, battered and bruised.

-'Make for the table in hopes that i wont be afraid again' is about how coheed really doesnt want to kill josie, but has to anyways. I think 'kill the acquited' and 'unworthy unconciousness' is saying that coheed is going to kill and innocent person.

-'Cannibalistic unfit family ties, a series of knock to the young girls head side' 'evolve monstar, show me the things i never watned done' is simply coheed killing josephine.

-'evolve monstar, show me the things i never watned done' is about coheed killing the gurads taht come in his home after his wife and mayo see eye to eye.

TIES TO 'DELIRIUM TRIGGER' AND 'HEARSHOT KID DISASTER'

-Wilhelm asys 'i need mayo', and not long after, wilhelm says 'Do not dissapoint me, general', and mayo says 'i wont, my lord.' I take this as 'i wont fail you now'. Im looking for something that could possibly be 'dear captain send the SOS, when were gonna go down.' I think the chorus to eharshot kid is this entire conversation.

-After coheed is sedated and taken to a transort, mayo asys he cant risk any of the killganons waking up mid-flgiht. this is proof that dilirium trigger is on a ship and coheed awakes, and kills everyone aboard.

-this is a theory 33, but whatever. I think patrick might come back for revenge on coheed, or another one of the killganons, since he runs away after coheed kills josephine, but 33 mentions his name and claudio himself has called it a chase scene. We'll see soon enough.

Neh, the album is about how writing the story of "Coheed and Cambria" is affecting the author, and his life. When you hear a song like "Welcome Home" though, it just makes you wonder what the heck Claudio is up to, and how a guy could have a life that epic (the author of the story). Its a bold step to step out of the story (kind of) like this, but I think it might just work. Sweet *** avatar by the way.

Well they have two more cd's to finish up after this one, then Claudio said that he was interested in directing a movie for the story. I doubt they'll end the story after two cd's though, especially since they will be huge by then.

AHHHH! They're touring with the Blood Brothers and they're coming near here soon but me and my friends are already planning to go see Thrice and Underoath. And they're in the same month. And I doubt that my parents will let me go to two concerts in Chicago in one month. But I guess I can try.
Coheed and Cambria + The Blood Brothers > Thrice + Underoath

But barley because I do love thrice too.

hey, you're not cory!

Meh, I'm actually leaning toward Thrice and Underoath.

I'll probably end up there anyway cause all of my friends like them and most don't like Coheed or the Blood Brothers.

Well, for me I'd probably go to BB/Coheed, seeing as I've seen UnderOATH, and Thrice are on Warped, and I've yet to see BB or Coheed.

Kif

Claudio's guide to the new album

WARNING: If you don't want the record a litte ruined, I suggest you don't read on. A lot of it is about the song's sounds and a little bit of the story!

Keeping The Blade: "This is the intro, an orchestrated piece. It's written by Joshua Eppard, the drummer, and myself, and it's actually the intros to (previous albums) 'In Keeping Secrets...' and 'Second Stage Turbine Blade' with an arrangement in the middle to bring them all together. It's very beautiful."

Always And Never: "This is an acoustic piece. Just myself, and actually my niece Janirez screaming in the background, hollering on her own. She's three years old."

Welcome Home: "This is really the opening track of the record, and it's very aggressive. Very reminiscent of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir", som e people say."

Ten Speed (Of God's Blood & Burial): "This one focuses in on a character of the story, his name is Ten Speed. He's actually a 10-speed bicycle, created by the subconscious of the writer as guidance to destroy the record, helping the writer to figure out a way to end the whole story."

Crossing The Frame: This one talks about the characters from previous records: Newo Ikkin, and her role, and I don't want to get into that now. It's basically a straightforward rock song, very much in the vein of Thin Lizzy."

Good Apollo I: The Writing Writer: "That's a pretty elaborate song. That's where we start getting into the elaborate side of Coheed And Cambria, with more musicians, and several guest musicians playing on it. It's where we get a little chaotic."

Once Upon Your Dead Body: "This is like The Beach Boys, very sing-songy. You'll definately hear that band here. I've spent a lot of time listening to the new Brian Wilson album 'Smile'. That band is pretty amazing."

Wake Up: "This is the record's ballad. You can call it that if you like. There's a lot of significance to me and my relationships or whatever you want to call them."

The Suffering: "This is a straightforward, single-sounding song. It's a combinations of a lot of the Coheed And Cambria-esque straightforward rock song: the "A Favor House Atlantic"'s, "Three Evil"'s and "Blood Red Summer"'s."

The Lying Lies And Dirty Secrets Of Miss Erica Court: "It's very laid-back, not as in-your-face as some of the other ones. We're played it live and kids have been calling it "Tell All Your Friends", cause there's a line in it which says "Sell all your friends"."

Mother May I: "This reminds me of The Police. It's one of my mother's favourites. It's very subdued in the verses, and opens up quite a bit in the chorus."

The Willing Well I, II, III & IV: "This is a four-part thing, wqhere we get into the progressive side of Coheed And Cambria. This section is about 34 minutes long. Each song varies between about seven and eight minutes. It's pretty much the climax of the record, the real puzzle."
