DJ Ducksauce

Me neither, but that was the only CoCa hoodie I could find.

Haven't seen the 10 speed shirt.

Speaking of 10 speed, when does the video come out?

Nope, that's Ian.

Yup. :)

I have their zip hoodie and a shirt that is plastered with red.

It's not enough though.

Shabutie for now is keeping me at bay with being obsessed with wanting more Coheed material, but it won't be long before the craving starts up again.

Yeah, 'tis fun. I need to work out the solo a bit though. Kinda go by ear on that.

About the GNs, I find them too confusing. Ok to look at, but the comics are so much cooler.

Justin: have you learned that cool little piano lick they have between some of their songs and at the beginning of the albums and stuff? I love how it sounds :smash:

Riziger
07-23-2006, 01:28 AM
the graphic novels look awesome. the stuff in there just looks so amazing from what i've seen in the album "book".... I would kill for the GN but unfortunately its not sold here...

hmm i was wondering. is Coheed pop-punk....?

anyways i like all three albums really much as they all sound different and are equally good. but i think Good Apollo is my favourite maybe just by a little bit cause it was my first coheed.

overall fav song i think is Welcome Home.

They changed the title of the thread...

Fish
07-23-2006, 01:15 PM
yeah they changed the title of like, all the threads

and yeah, coheed and cambria are considered pop-punk, they are just a bit more on the dark/evil (ish) side, with their lyrics, and claudio's evil vocals.

cobert
07-23-2006, 01:16 PM
I still dont think Coheed are. SSTB, sure, but definitely unique pop-punk. IKSOSE, yeah, pop-punk. Not good apollo though.

Fish
07-23-2006, 01:19 PM
well personally, i dont consider them pop-punk either, and I never refer to them as pop-punk outside of this forum, because people go nazi on your *** here if you think differently from them.

it's wicked cool. I can play, i think almost every coheed track. Not form start to finish, but a good amount do be able to claim i can play the song.

The only songs i can play start to finish without needing to check a tab or something are..

Devil In Jersey City
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth

Blood Red Summer

I haven't listened to Coheed a lot in a good while. I'm a bit rusty atm. I can play most of the songs above though.

Fish
07-23-2006, 01:43 PM
those are just the ones i can play without needing a tab or anything, i have it all memorized. Their songs arent too hard.

DJ Ducksauce
07-23-2006, 01:45 PM
Yeah, I don't listen to the other songs constantly enough or haven't looked them up to have them memorized. I love playing Delirium Trigger though. I love that little riff on the D strings.

Fish
07-23-2006, 01:47 PM

Sweet.

I really want to do a Coheed cover for the PP band. Seriously. I want to do IKSSE:3 bad.

07-25-2006, 12:46 PM
Trying out AFHA first. I would love a female vocalist but seing as how many ppl actually know what Coheed is in my country I dont think my chances are that good. Haha my singer now reminds me of claudio tho, he's pretty big.

IKSSE:3 is such a fun song to play haha.

DJ Ducksauce

Coheed is pretty simple-ish on drums. In Keeping Secrets is fairly easy, as is most of that album. I havent tried sstb or ga though...

Fish
07-27-2006, 12:17 AM
the drumming isnt very hard at all, my drummer picked it up first time through on most songs, including IKSOSE

chumpradio
07-27-2006, 08:22 AM
But you can't deny that Josh Eppard (that's the drummer right?) is a great drummer.

Storm In A Teacup

Neverender?
The Crowing?
Both of the Good Apollo Tracks?

Are you guys kidding me?

Fish
07-30-2006, 01:08 AM
including the solo at the end?

well when we played it live we made the solo like 5 minutes, it was insane.

The drumming isn't easy, or hard, it just fits with the song and makes it that much better and thats all that really matters.

TheBigMachine
07-30-2006, 02:57 AM
Neverender? Yes. That's not all that hard, it's kind of off-beat though
The Crowing? This on the other hand, is hard. Ghost noting it up on the hats, with open and closed patterns, subtle but hard to get right bass drums and stealthy changes all make it fairly difficult.
And Im unsure what your referring to when you say the Good Apollo tracks. Theres only Apolo I on the GA album...
Edit: Wait, my mistake, its hiding with Willing Well III....

The Crowing

They tend to fit in with the new wave of "Prog-punk". Bands like CoCa, Circa Survive, TREOS, Dredg, Gatsbys. Etc.

Fish
07-30-2006, 05:54 PM
coheed and cambria are not pop punk. The majority of the singles that have been released are more on the pop-punk side, but overall, these guys dont belong here at all.

Like when you listen to tracks like The Final Cut, you really hear the blues influence, and then tracks like the crowing, you hear the metal side. They really cover a few genres, pop punk definately not being the best place to put them, but who really cares, the fans will come here to talk and discuss, and thats all that matters.

AZNMan#2
07-30-2006, 07:02 PM
And a good bit of Pop-Punk like CoCa.

TMA

Are you sure you're not confusing Neverender with Godsend Conspirator? Cause I know that one is simply, it just comes in at an odd timing until you really get into the groove of the song. Neverender, I believe, has a fairly difficult intro, at least.
And I was definately right about the GA songs, wasn't I?

Fish
07-30-2006, 09:47 PM
guitar > drums

so.. yeah :)

TMA
07-31-2006, 12:05 AM
Pffffft. I play guitar, I have been for over 4 years now, I'm quite fairly good though not AMAZING, but I have to say that drums are a lot more fun to play than guitar. That's just my personal opinion though.
However, while I defend Josh Eppard's skill to the death, I have to say they have better guitars and bass than they do drums.
But, while Josh may not be insanely fast or anything, he is most definately one of the most creative drummers of our time.

Fish
07-31-2006, 02:55 PM
meh, im a songwriter so I prefer guitar.

Claudio is the ultimate songwriter of our time :p

Storm In A Teacup
07-31-2006, 02:57 PM
I'm a songwriter (at least I like to think I am :p) and I start writing stuff on keyboard and bass first then switch to guitar and mess with the drum machine.

And yes, Claudio is the premier songwriter of our time most definitely.

Heh, and the most epic is The Ring In Return, that little strings thing at the start of IKSE:3.

Fish
08-01-2006, 10:51 AM
the first time i heard that CD it was like 11:30 at night and i was going to bed, so it was pitch black, and all that was playing was the ring in return, it creeped me out so much. Just the noise of the phone, and then the footsteps... *shivers*. not to mention the scream at the start of the crowing.

AZNMan#2
08-01-2006, 12:30 PM
Not to mention Claudio's hair starting to protrude from your speakers.

Hmm, apparently Mic and Josh aren't touring with the band through August. I don't know a lot about these guys personally except for the music, but is anyone worried about this? I guess they've decided to stop due to "personal reasons" whatever that could mean.

TMA

TheBigMachine
08-02-2006, 02:17 AM
Well, as good as the unit is, it would only make a difference really if Claudio left, or they replaced a guitarist or drummer with a worse one than the current ones.

Though, if Claudio left, it'd save space on magazine advertisment pages etc.

Apparently they aren't playing with the band on the upcoming tours, and it looks like it could be a permanent change.
Claudio mentioned the two replacements, and then pretty much said they are a lot more fun to play with than Mic and Josh. I hear that it's rumoured to be due to drug abuse, but that was just a rumour last time I heard.

from myspace

For the upcoming August dates, due to personal reasons, Mic and Josh will not be performing with Coheed and Cambria. Instead, Claudio and Travis will be joined by Matt Williams (who formerly teamed with them in the band Jumblehead - from Nyack, NY) on bass and our beloved MP (ex-Samiam) on drums. "We'll discuss their future at a later date, but right now, all we want to do is to get out and play for our fans," Claudio said. "Travis and I are excited to share the stage with Matt and MP, because they add a new flavor to the songs and it makes performing them even more fun."

Coheed and Cambria will begin working on a new album this fall.
