He meant you. But ya they are probably writing it right now, it probably wont come out for a while, they have been touring a lot lately, but now they have an extra album to release because they didn't originally plan to have two volumes to the fourth part but now they do and it's awesome! Its going to be a bummer when they release these last two albums, cause they will probably break up....bummer.

Oddly enough those are all off of Good Apollo.
Oddly enough it's arguably their worst album.
DepthsOfDreams555
05-10-2006, 03:52 PM
I think they gained a lot of fans from it. SSTB>IKS>GA. That's what I think. But IKS and GA are really really close.
I only like a few songs from GA. That album really turned me off them. I think both IKS and SSTB both blow GA away.
DepthsOfDreams555
05-10-2006, 03:54 PM
Naw, I like most of the tracks on GA but it isn't close to as strong as SSTB, and IKS was really good too. I mean I like them all, but GA is probably the weakest in my mind.

The other two are better than GA. In most peoples opinons anyways. I think GA is good, but not as good as the others.

Matt beat me to it.
The other 2 are better than GA. SSTB is the best overall, but IKS is what got me into them. It's actually easier to get into than SSTB, but once SSTB grows on you, you love it.

Anyone know what song are they shooting a video for?
DepthsOfDreams555
05-11-2006, 01:08 PM
Ten Speed
My thoughts:
SSTB>GA>IKSSE
That's just me though. I love SSTB cause it did kinda show some Emo roots and influence, quite a bit, and I think GA is just a highlight musicianship-wise and incredibly musically diverse. Now, IKSSE was also diverse to an extent, but I think it had some of their most pop songs on it, and some of the songs were extremely low on musicianship in comparison to their other stuff, and that kinda turned me off a bit.
DepthsOfDreams555
05-12-2006, 06:15 AM
I think GA has more poppy songs than IKS did though.
Mitch2oo6
05-12-2006, 06:58 AM
Thats true. GA is much written in a more catchy manner. I think that SSTB is hard to get into. GA and IKSE were both a helluva lot easier to get into and love.
Society Sellout
05-12-2006, 11:02 AM
Actually the first time I heard SSTB I loved it and I still do. GA is almost none existant for me now and I rarely listen to IKSE3. GA is just full of way too many wannabe singles and IKSE3 I think I just killed for myself by over listening to it.

SSTB was the easiest to get me into them. It was the first one I heard after all. GA is almost impossible for me to get into. I can only listen to like 2 or 3 songs before I have to switch albums.
DepthsOfDreams555
05-12-2006, 03:29 PM
Wow, I thought that GA was so much more catchy than all their other albums. The very first listen through on SSTB I didn't particularly like it, but I grew to like it after my second listen through.
cobert
05-12-2006, 04:56 PM
It didnt take long for me to like SSTB. IKS was amazing at first, but now all but a few songs just seem kind of *GASP* generic. It seems like they tried to make a formula to wrte some songs, or like they just tried shoving every single riff theyve ever written into some songs. Still, it has a few classics. And i rarely ever listen to GA.
Mitch2oo6
05-12-2006, 08:03 PM
Oh well each to his own I guess. Doesnt change the fact that Coheed are definatley awesome. After five listens, im still not into SSTB though...it seems all choppy, kind of, like its got no rhythm, and the drumming is over-done groove wise to my mind.
SSTB>Anything else Coheed has done.
I pity you if you can't get into it. It's amazing.

IKS was the easiest to get into, but after you give SSTB more listens, you love it. It took me more than 5 listens too. I used to just listen to the singles, but after hearing the whole thing several times, it grows on you lots.

And ya Brent do you have any audio of it?
I don't have audio of it. I have video of it, but the sound quality is crap. Maybe when I get back home I'll do some more recording.
Besides, while it went over well, is was my very first performance eve, so I was rather nervous and my voice was cracking in a few places. I'd rather just go home and record it. ^^

i just got back from the pittsburgh show with a7x. coheed was really good, of course.
they played "The Crowing" which is probably my favorite song of theirs. i didn't know they played it on tour so i was really excited.
they ended with a half-hour long rendition of "The Final Cut" with Claudio playing solos behind his back, with teeth, and he tried the violin bow trick but it didn't seem to work. oh well it wasn't any big deal, the rest of the show was great.
setlist if I can remember:
IKSSE: 3
Ten Speed
The Crowing
Wake Up
Delirium Trigger
A Favor House Atlantic
Everything Evil
The Suffering
Welcome Home
The Final Cut
I'm not sure if the order is right but i think that's every song they played.

GOOD STORY.
My sister just came back from her job at the mall, and she said avenged sevenfold were there. They were on the up escalator, and she was going down, then they were waving to her and saying 'HEY!!!'. I asked her why she didnt say anything back, and she said "If it was a better band, then maybe I wouldve acknowledged them."

I remember you saying you performed it for your school or something. You said you cut out the 'liar' part, if i remember correctly.
Indeed I did. It was a school event, and I thought that the whole "liar" part was kinda just 30 seconds of fluff. The vocals don't change much, nor does the guitar, so... I just left it out.
GOOD STORY.

then he went on a rant about how people slag off A7X on message boards "...but they're at home on the computer and we're here havin a good time, so mother**** them right up the ***! When they see you comin they turn and run!" everyone cheered but would someone who hates A7X really run away at the sight of a 14 year old girl or a scrawny guy with a bad haircut? cause that's most of their die-hard fans anyway.

Thats terrible. They always try to act like theyre some big 'rockstars' and like they do anything they want, but i actually read an article once where the magazine did a phone interview with the singer, and they said his girlfriend answered the phone and told the reporter about their skiing trip to colorado. It made me chuckle because it made him look like a little bitch compared t what he acts like he is.

Coheed's live show is awesome but I hate the lack of energy. When I saw them they just kind of stood on the stage and played there stuff, don't get me wrong it was incredible but I just wish they would've been more active on the stage.

me and my band do a cover of it, it took me a while to get the singning down on the verses with the guitar, but we can play the whole thing now
zach: I'll agree that travis stands pretty still for a guitarist, and the bass is pretty technical, but on some songs like Three Evils, everything evil or DIJC, claudio adds crazy fills or gets really into it.

theres no way you have 24 hours of coheed music
I have all 3 CD's then there live DVD and live CD and their bonus dvd off of the re-issue of good apollo.

"The Ring In Return" feels like it's from the PS1 videogame 'Legend of Legaia'. How I wish it and especially 'Legend of Dragoon' had other games than just the two. :upset:
the only game i ever had for ps1 was tony hawks 2. And thats where i discovered lagwagon but...

Hmm, even though everyone praises "Welcome Home" (I think it's awesome, don't misread what I say), but there are a lot of songs by Coheed that are much better.
yeah of course. But welcome home just stands out more as a song, with its angry lyrics and ending solo. There are much better songs like, IKSOSE, the crowing, al the killer, devil in jersey city, the list goes on :p but it's still a great song, there isn't really a song i dont like. Except Wake Up, i mean it's an okay song, but I usually skip it while I listen to the GA album.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:17 PM
"Wake Up" is more of a setup to the rest of the album than anything else.
edit: , wholy crap, new avatar, thanks to Damrod!
oo, I'd +rep you for that avatar if you weren't already a mod :p. Yeah I just dont really think it suits coheed and cambria that well. I mean, always and never is an awesome track because its soft, but also really evil at the same time. But wake up.. meh, probably my least favorite coheed track.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:23 PM
If I weren't a mod? I need the rep, I have -46. :(
Oh god. The Willing Well gives me the creeps everytime I listen to it.
which section? the whole thing? I love how they put that evil voice backing up claudio on the first willing well. Same with Al The Killer, it hits the spot nicely :thumb:
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:27 PM
All four sections. I used to think the first was the creepiest too along with the fourth, but the third is really scary. God, I love it.
oh yeah, at the very ending, when his voice like drains out. That made me jump the first time I listened to it.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:32 PM
The part right before Claudio first says, "Jesse, bad boy", on the later part of Section 4 reminds me a lot of either the opening of "The Suffering", or "A Favor House Atlantic". I'm not sure which.
I think im going to have to check this out. Give me a sec.
Oh yeah, and the chorus of the suffering reminds me a lot of the ending of Three Evils.
Edit: Wait, are you talking about the 3rd or 4th section? Cause 4th is Final Cut.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:36 PM
Shi. 3rd section.
yeah, its Blood Red Summer you're thinking of im pretty sure.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:49 PM
Perhaps, but I'm still leaning on the other two songs.
BTW, what's your favorite C&C record?
thats probably one of the hardest questions I've ever been asked. It leans more in the direction of IKSOSE or SSTB. I can't really decide. I think IKSOSE lasted the longest in my CD player though.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 01:59 PM
I think Good Apollo and SSTB are tied. In Keeping Secrets is great yes, but doesn't compare to the brilliance of those albums.
I think that IKSOSE had more emotion put into the vocals and just the story line overall. Especially with the Light and the Glass which is one of my favorite coheed tracks ever.
GA is a lot more rock even blues influenced, with the solo's and the willing well tracks which are all 7+ minutes each.
SSTB is right up there with IKSOSE but i just feel like claudio was a little hesitant with the story line. The songs are no doubt a bit darker though, and thats one thing i love about Coheed.
cobert
06-29-2006, 04:12 PM
I cant stand Wake Up (except it wasnt so bad when he did it live and it was just guitar), and all of The Willing Well except for The Final Cut seemed like it tried too hard to be epic. It came out sounding like a big mess of different parts to me.
SSTB > Most records Ive ever heard.
And im pretty sure youre thinking of blood red summer, not AFHA or The Suffering. They always fit a part of their last album onto the next one, like with both Time Consumer and I, Robot being in 21:13 on KSOSE. Now they fit Blood Red Summer into this one.
Storm In A Teacup
06-29-2006, 04:18 PM
It's definitely "Blood Red Summer" that I was thinking of. I listened to the whole song and I realized it was that and not the other two.

Have you listened to IKSSE along with LOTR the fellowship? It's pretty cool. It's awesome how it syncs with the movie.
Beating off to Coheed though? That is pretty creepy, but whatever floats your boat.
Love the avy btw.
PS: When do the acoustic sessions come out?

I think that it's sad that Coheed are taking the route of The Wall, where there's a few solid songs, surrounded by a lot of songs of lesser quality. Hopefully, this next album brings us something completely different (while still sounding like Co&Ca) with quality songs the whole way through. /relatively pointless commentary.

Storm In A Teacup
06-30-2006, 02:30 PM
Yes.
They grew on me a lot, they are some of my favorite tracks on IKSOSE. At first I didnt really like them, but once i started to learn them on guitar, i dont know why, but i just appreciated them more. Plus everyone can relate to the 2nd VC at one point in time "i have no luck with girls" then again.. maybe not. Al The Killer is just one of my all time favorite coheed songs.

Faint of Hearts is the best of the Velorium Campers. It sounds so different from anything else on the album, and I think it hints at what they would sound like on the next album.
true, it is very different from the others. I still enjoy Al The Killer, but i just really love how claudios voice sounds so evil. I dont know about foreshawdowing on how the GA would sound like, i think the songs in GA got a bit darker lyric wise.

I'm going to listen to "VC: Faint of Hearts" right now and look at the tabs of the songs, but I've easily listened to that whole CD over 150, maybe 200 times so I don't think they'll grown on me.

Let me try and find Kif's post on the whole lotr thing.
To the album discussion- I've said it before and I'll say it again. GA killed Coheed. There's like one good song (Ten Speed) and good intro to a song (Welcome Home) and then the intro to the cd and that's it.
I cannot express how much I despise that cd.

Not really. I've really only heard random songs, tbh. I've heard that the story is pretty snazzy, though.
And I do love concept albums...
well im out, but yeah, seriously listen to the story line or read about it, it makes it more interesting. You can get the story line off of Cobalt and Calcium.com imo the second album carries the story line a lot better than the other two albums

I like VC: Faint of Hearts the best of the three.
yeah, i hate saying how i like one of them better then the others, cause it really depends what mood you are in. Like when im in a happier mood VC 1 works well, when im sad VC 2 ftw and then when im just pissed off VC3. I like how they all sound completely different from each other.
Storm In A Teacup
07-02-2006, 06:00 PM
VC1 and VC3 are good, VC2 is the worst C&C song.
The best song on IKSoSE:3 I've decided is "Three Evils (Embodied In Love and Shadow".
I can see where you are coming from when you say VC2 is the worst CoCa song, it hasn't ever really been one of my favorites. Three Evils used to be my favorite track off IKSOSE3 but at the moment it would have to be The Crowing
YDload
07-03-2006, 12:47 AM
It's because VC2 is so boring. It's sandwiched right inside the "trilogy," so it's like they didn't even care whether or not it makes sense as its own song.
Yeah, "The Crowing" is also my favorite song off that album, and my favorite Coheed song of all. I was so psyched when they played it live; I didn't think it was part of their normal setlist.
i dont think it is anymore. We'll when i saw them last october is wasn't. Although on the dvd they play it, but i think it was close after the release of IKSOSE3. It is a great song, but i think they just stopped playing it live because like claudio says on the dvd, theres alot to remember while playing the song, and it can became a bit difficult. Best live song though has to be either Devil in Jersey City or Everything Evil.
YDload
07-03-2006, 12:54 AM
I saw them only about a month ago and they played The Crowing. It was the first song I heard of theirs that really got me into the band. Like most people, I had heard A Favor House Atlantic on the radio and all. Even though the vocals seemed ridiculous, I noticed there was a lot going on with the guitar parts. So I decided to check them out more and that's what led me to their most complex song (up to that point). Love the thrashy breakdown part!
hmm.. you heard them on the radio, where abouts do you live? Wow, you're so lucky to have heard the crowing, i wish they played it at the show i went to. But then again, it was close after the release of GA.
