I hate this thread's name!
I like it. It's another one of those "Band Community Threads with a title referencing a song", only this one incorporates both clever lyric use and the band name without using parentheses. Yeah! We rule in here!
DepthsOfDreams555

Ya but he hates it because this one and the DT were the only long thread titles. But now like the Green Day and Blink thread's have long titles. Usually people will click on this thinking it is the DT because of the long title and post something completely off topic. I think that is why he said he hates it.
EDIT: Despite that I like this thread title too.
Basically if you have remotes for both CD player and DVD, you just press start at the same time. You'll know it's right when the phone ringing (the first sound you hear on IKSSE:3) syncs up with the DVD menu change (the little ~ thing's to each side of "Play Movie" fade out with the phone ring. you'll know what i mean when you see it).
Apparently it doesn't work with the extended version either. I don't even have the movies, so I can't try it
I have the movie on VHS, only problem is I don't have either of the CDs. When I eventually buy them, I will test it out.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. If you go back a page and read Kif's post you will understand.

Okay I get it but Kif I have a few questions, I can do it but do I start IKSOSE right when the movie starts like after I click "Play Movie" on the DVD menu or like do I start it right when the DVD Menu screen comes up. Also do I just start GA right after IKSOSE is over?
I have all of it ready to go into their seprate players and stuff I have the un-extended LOTR and IKSOSE ready I just need you to answer those questions.
Hes offline bummer I will just have to try it out.

Kif I read all the spoilers again after I finished playing IKSOSE and some of them were right on with what you said and then other ones were like a few seconds off. Like it would do it than it would happen in the movie a few seconds later. But the creation of the rings was right on but then like someone died right after they sayed "We'll have you dead pretty soon" and then the part when it comes in again on the title track Bilbo is still talking to Gandolf not jumping onto his carriage yet. I am not sure if I just did it off a little bit or if it is just off a tiny bit in general I want to talk to you about it a little more but either way it is sweet and its almost like that album belongs on the movie it is matched up nicely.

Okay, so. I just listened In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 for the first time yesterday. First C&C album. And wow. Man. Wow. I loved it, every second of it.
Before this I had heard A Favor House Atlantic and Blood Red Summer, which I thought were just okay. Much later, I heard Welcome Home and absolutely LOVED it. So I borrowed IKSOSE:3 from a friend and, to say the least, absolutely loved every minute of it.
Perfect fusion of heavy pop-punk with the progressive rock awesomeness of bands like Rush (definitely a major influence). And wow, absolutely perfect. The title-track was amazing. Same with The Crowing, The Light in the Glass, basically every song. All if it just worked. Tomorrow I'm borrowing Good Apollo... from the same friend, and I can't wait to hear it.
Also, I read a really great, detailed explanation of the albums' storylines. It covered the events of SSTB, IKSOSE:3, and some of the stuff that happened before. Really interesting, to say the least.

Well if you don't like GA as much as you did on your first listen of IKSOSE then don't get dissapointed, just listen to it some more. Also when you said Rush was a major influence I'm guessing your saying Coheed and Cambria and Rush is definetly not a major influence of theirs, I know that it would seem like they are but Claudio had never heard of Rush until a little while back. They were interviewed about it and said that they had never heard of them.

I'm pretty sure that it is 666. 6 is one short of the "perfect" number 7. Thus symbolizing imperfection.
The LotR thing is pretty cool. I tried it this morning. I didn't get all the way through though. One other thing I noticed was that during VCII, when Claudio sings "Misleading trust....", it's when Gandalf is first talking with Saruman. I had to stop right then though or I'd miss the bus.

I bet dude they are playing another show in Chicago with Fall Out Boy and The All American Rejects I think I am going to it!!
Funny thing happened to me on Sunday...
I was at my sisters soccer match and I was boping my head to IKSOSE3 on my iPod and my mom asked what I was listening to. I let her hear the song and she stole my iPod and wouldn't give it back. She says it reminds her of Rush and I can see why but come on! My Mom is in love with C&C!!! Ah!
Someone earlier said it reminds them of Rush. My dad loves Rush. I should get him to listen to them and maybe he will start to like them and want their CDs. Then I can steal them from him.
Just buy them for yourself foo'
The cds are worth buying just so you can listen to them really really loud.

Yah I want a a band t-shirt too... when I have the money. They are like 40 bucks right?

I see, i see.
Now whats this nonsense about LOTR? And i was right about ten speeds, its a bike. You said before that it was his subconcious, so it still makes sense to combine them, his bike could be talking to him (or at least the writer thinks it is).
DepthsOfDreams555
10-20-2005, 04:18 PM
Ya your right it is both it is subconcious in the form of a bike.....also it is his bike....if you get LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring and IKSOSE together and you start them at the same time they are liked synched up. You have to watch it for yourself but it is cool......its like when something happens on the CD it happens on the movie. You turn the movie volume all the way down and its almost like the CD belongs to the movie....almost like it is a musical haha.

Sweet.
Here's another good theory i came up with. I havent seen the MTV shorts, so i got less from the story then you guys, but heres what i think:
Its been said the "id do anything" part on IKSOSE is talking to jesse. Seeing as this is in wake up, that part of wake up could be talking to Jesse, who could be the writers brother. The reason the writer and erica break up is because jesse stole/boned erica while she was still with the writer. Another clue is the cover of the album:
1. It shows a guillotine with wings, with erica standing on both sides of the guillotine.
2. Jesse could be the writers older brother. Because an older brother might be sen as a guardian angel figure, the write put his brother in the story as a prize, who have wings like an angel.
3.After jesse sticks his uh-oh in ericas yes-huh, the writers finds out. This is the reason the guillotine has wings, as it represents Jesse and Erica 'killing' the writer/claudio. Actually, it might make more sense is erica was using jesse to get at claudio, since erica is standing on the side of the guillotine, like an executioner might.
Dont deny my theories are sick.
DepthsOfDreams555
10-20-2005, 04:30 PM
Your theories are tight its sweet but Erica isn't aware of Claudio he is in the story and Erica is in real life and Jesse might be the writers brother but then why would he do anything for him if he nailed his girlfriends. Also Newo didn't cheat on Claudio with Jesse did she? I thought it was Al.

It said in alternative press that wake up was a history of the writer. Also, notice it says 'would' do anything, not 'will do anything'. Past tense makes a big difference here.
And i think Al might help the characters, and he could just be thinking about doing things to newo.
and by claudio, i mean the writer, that was a typo.

Oooo okay, also I haven't read that AP article yet but I thought Wake Up was a song past tense song but he still doesnt "say" would do anything for you he just says "I'll do anything for you" but technically if it is a song in the past tense he isn't saying it right now....but w.e
I used to believe Al was bad but I have recently come to believe he isn't but I know Newo cheated on Claudio.

All of Co&Ca's albums are "growers", really, but this one is even more so. It took me a (short) while to really get into SSTB, though IKSSE: 3 clicked faster for me, and Good Apollo is still working on me. I've been listening to so much music recently, and I haven't given Good Apollo quite enough time yet.
Same thing, though. I wasn't so impressed the first time, but I like it much more now.

There only about two songs on the album that aren't great.
I'd say The Lying Lies And Dirty Secrets Of Miss Erica Court is the weakest song. And to be honest I haven't given the last couple tracks many listens.

Well if you are basing it on the pictures from the comic those pictures don't look anything like Coheed and Cambria and I think the guy is probably Claudio and the girl might be Newo cause it doesn't look anything like Ambellina. Ambellina wasn't a part of SSTB either I don't think....

MY least favorite tracks are mother may I, willing well II, always and never, and wake up. My favorites are Keeping the blade, welcome home, ten speeds, erica court, the apollo series, and the final cut.
SSTB = GA,IBS4 > IKSOSE:3
And did anyone notice that the lead guitar to the 'on the word of your friends' part in erica court sounds strangely similar to the 'pray youre not the only one' part in the crowing? Hmm....

Alright, right about now is when I take the time to once again promote Coheed's brother band "3".
3 is fronted by Joey Eppard (yes, Josh Eppard's brother). He is an amazing guitarist. I'd say that he owns Claudio's *ss, but it's a completely different style.
So please, if you get the chance, check them out on purevolume at http://www.purevolume.com/3, and above all, check out the song Bramfatura (the pv page only has a live version, I think). Dregs is also a great song by them, and a classic by them (I almost want to say it was the first song they wrote... but I don't know that for sure).

I can play pretty much any Coheed song on bass, but some of them are a bit tricky. 2113 has that freaky run in the middle of it where the bass and guitar play the same thing, and a lot of SSTB songs have basslines that don't follow the guitar, so they're hard to figure out.
God Send Conspirator is probably my favorite to play, and The Crowing is neat too.

So do I, i've written most of the band parts to songs that are similar to Coheed style, and the basis for a story line, although i don't read cartoons so it will just be a story, but I've found its much easier to write lyrics that way.

So do I, i've written most of the band parts to songs that are similar to Coheed style, and the basis for a story line, although i don't read cartoons so it will just be a story, but I've found its much easier to write lyrics that way.
Hopefully I'll find people.
You idiot. You're missing the whole point of being a Coheed fan if you're trying to rip them off directly. Take a hint from the fact that they're doing something different from everyone else.
hey, you're not cory!

God Send Conspirator is probably my favorite to play, and The Crowing is neat too.
My favorite for bass = Hearshot kid disaster. especially the 'in a short life lived' part at the end.
At the coheed show here, the only break they took in between songs was to talk about japanese pr0n that they were watching backstage.
I alost am kinda starting a side project to my current band (even though my current band only has a few songs worth of music made). It has 2 percussionists: One on a drum kit and another with all the wierd cymbals and some toms. Then theres me on bass/vocals. The idea is to change style often, so one song will be funky while another songs is spastic with screaming and under a minute long, while another could be 10 minutes of pure melody and no vocals.
LETS GO STEELERS!!!!!! (i swear if they put maddox in at all this game ill turn off the TV.)

I was watching "The Crowing" on the Starland Ballroom DVD, and I was hugely impressed with the tandem shredding section. It was really something to watch Claudio, Josh, and Travis all playing like that at once. I also liked at the end when they were all harmonizing and singing the end canonically. That ruled.

I was actually disappointed by that song, I guess I thought it would be so much more powerful live than it was.

Yeah, most of the song wasn't as cool live as on the record, but I was still quite pleased with the two parts I meantioned. Actually seeing those two specific events added something, I think.
The Starland Ballroom version of IKSOSE:3 makes me shiver badly.

I liked In Keeping, Everything Evil and The Light and The Glass on the dvd the most. Everything else was good but those were just amazing.
Anyone like my Coheed avatar?

Fun avatar, pazz. I approve.
You should add the live cd and the EP(s?)
I could. If I think about it later, I will.

I obviously didn't make it clear enough that I wasn't wanting to directly rip them off. And i'm not a tight 'coheed' fanboy anyway, like some idiots I saw when I went to see them. Get over it, and go live a life.
That's basically what you're doing. Making a story that your music is going to be based around. If I recall correctly you also said you wanted to play a similar style of music. You're pretty much ripping them off completely.
Matt: I have the live one.

It has been done before coheed... I change my mind all the time, was in a ska band 2 months ago and i'm still in a local indie band, so meh, it wouldn't end up sounding much like them at all. Some people really need to chill out with the coheed-obsessed thing.

What does this have to do with anything I said.
