what kind of files do i pods play? how bout the dell ipod?

^Probably just your typical old MP3's, but if you have some uploaded music on your computer as WMA's, I'm not to sure. Try looking on the Apple website or something. As far as the Dells go, haha, they're not IPods, they're just regular MP3 players, but along the lines of the IPods. I think they can do MP3's along with WMA's too. Just google them for some info to be sure.

okay well ive decided since i never use my 10inch tom on my pacific cx that im gonna sell it and put the money toward things i actually need.....like i said its 10inch and only about 5 months old...rarely played and looks brand new except a couple stick marks on the top head.....ive replaced th stock head with g2 over g1 too. about how much do you think i could get for this? its $100 brand new on MF so i figure i can make $50 off of it since its still new and the stock heads are replaced already....is $50 an alright price?

Josiah
07-30-2005, 02:59 AM
A good tom is worth more then $50 just to have around.

Learn to use it.

That's a flaw in your playing if you don't. If nothing else.. it sits and collects dust. Why you wouldn't use a 10" tom I can't really see unless you just have a hard on for 4 piece sets or somethin...

dont really like 10inch toms. i use more cymbals than toms. I mean ive used it i jsut dont use it alot. i just think a 10 is jsut too high pitched for what i want. not that i cant use it....i jsut dont wanna use it.

i want an i pod, not sure what to get though, i want something that can take files from my windows media player, any suggestions?

If you get one of the larger ones, then you can use it as an external hard drivve.

Well it's far lower pitched then the cymbals you play more of...

You can tune them down too.

Or perhaps you just like the roaring thunder of big toms... don't we all!

well i just got up and played drums for a while. man, has anyone heard "eagles become vultures" by converge? i had heard pretty much every other song on that cd except that one before i bought it, and the drum intro blew me away.

anyways, me and my friends are going camping on the 15th, 16th, and 17th, and im gonna try to stay drunk through the whole trip. the 8 of us are pitching in something like $5-700 total for booze  it's gonna be amazing. oh god i can't wait. i'm gonna get up at like 10 a.m. and have 6 or 7 shots, then once i feel that starting to wear down, i'll take a few more.

and i'm going partying tonight because my friend's getting back anytime now. i think i'm gonna go for some jd tonight, because i've been saying i'll stray away from my captain mo's for a while, but i always come crawling back to him

it's my teen years, i gotta live them up while they're still here...

well i just weighed myself after my shower and realized that i've gained 15 pounds since the last time i weighed myself. i'm guessing this is from summer break, sleeping in, eating really fatty foods for breakfast lunch and supper, and then eating sandwiches or nachos before i go to bed. so i decided i'm going to go on a diet for 2 weeks until camping, because i'll probably eat alot camping anyways. i'm not going to restrict myself from eating certain foods or anything, i'm just going to watch what i eat. i'm going to drink alot of water because i heard it keeps you full longer and it doesn't have calories or fat or carbs in it. any diet experts know anything i should try to stay away from? right now i'm at 180. let's see how much i can lose in 14 days. place your bets.

Okay call me crazy but help me out here:

So there's this girl I like (no, don't stop reading, please!)

Anyway, we know each other, but I wouldn't consider each other friends. Junior year we co-starred in the One Acts together (when I started really liking her, but had a g/f at the time) but ever since then we rarely talked and stuff....mostly my fault, because I'd get all shy around her (god I feel like a 12 year old, but its true!) but we had 'some' conversations over the past 2 years.

Anyway, now we're both graduated, and I'm probably never gonna see her again.

I've spent a lot of this summer hoping "Oh well maybe when I'm out and about I'll run into her and we'll start talking and stuff and maybe we can start doing stuff together.....as friends." Now its obvious that I'm dreaming there. If I think like that, nothing will ever happen.

Yesterday I started thinking about her (**** I'm a hopeless romantic stalker) again. And then the most obvious idea struck me....why don't I call her?

I can be fairly socialble at times, but I'm not neccesaryily the most sociable person. I'm the type where if you start the conversation with me, I'm fine and open, but I cannot start a conversation to save my life except if its with maybe my best friend (even with my regular friends I can't start a conversation) and my now ex-g/f. So the obvious solution I thought of is really hard for me to do, and I know I'm gonna be nervous as hell too calling her up, me taking the initative.

Now I don't want to get all in a relationship right away. I want to become good friends with her first. Anyway, my plan is to call her (on Monday) and just tell her I'm trying to get a hold of everybody I know because its been a lonely summer, so hopefully that can start a hopefully long conversation. And I'll see what goes from there.

Now if I call her home and she's not there, I don't want to leave me name and number, but just ask when I can reach for her again. I'll just say I'm an 'old school-mate'. If I leave it up to her to call me back, the chances of a conversation decrease because I know that people don't deliver messages or call people back they missed. Its just something people do.

Anyway, I found her phone number and everything, but I was wondering what the rest of you people think. Any suggestions ideas for my grand plan? And the great thing is......I've got absolutly nothing to lose. Even if I do make a fool out of myself (which has happened before in my life) its not like I'm gonna be seeing her or any of her friends again for a long time, and I'll doubt word will get around to my friends and stuff. I've got nothing to lose.

Anyways, any comments?

First of all, I like your attitude, so...

Here's what you do, it's fairly simple;

If you call her, 3 main, possible things can happen.

1. You don't get a answer, don't leave a message WHATEVER YOU DO, you'll ramble, or loose your nerve, and it'll most likely wind up doing more harm than good. I know I've tried it before I can't wing messages, there's just too much pressure.

2. Her parents and/or simblings pick up first. In which case you ask to speak to whatever her name is. If she's not there, ask when she may be back, and ask the parent/sibling to tell her that you called. It's always nice to hear someone has called for you. If however she is able to talk, good show.

3. The main goal, the converstion. You say your "hello"s, and don't forget to state who you are up front, in a casual way of course, make it seem like you shouldn't have to. The rest is just how you feel at the time, feel free to include mindless small talk about your summer, and hers, don't neglect giving her a chance to run her mouth, hahaha. The "eat and apple on the phone" technique like George does to make yourself more comfortable could be an option for you as well. Finally, just ask her to hang out sometime, note: renting movies and watching them at your/her has a much more intimate feel than the theatres.

And there you have it, tell me how it goes.

Give it to yourself for doing this, it takes some effort on your part, but I would hate to see you not act at all.

So if I call the house and get a sibling/parent I should leave my name?

If you want it to seem casual, than you might not want to. If she knows you are looking for her, than she is going to know something's up. You probably want to catch her off gaurd and have her pleasantly surprised by your call, rather than give her time to think of every possible reason you would be calling. (girls do that)

Also, the whole "I want to be friends first, then more later" is a good premise, but seldom works out well. Start dropping hints after the second of third time you see her. Compliment her, say you really enjoy her etc. You have a limited timeframe before she puts you in the "just friends" category, and if she doesn't think you like her, she may even go for someone else before your plan has completely unfolded.

Actually my name is Justin, but close ;)

Come to think of it I'll probably need to use my full name..... :P

EDIT for above post: Yeah I was thinking about that too. If I leave my name she'll probably think of reasons for not calling me back. I want to surprise her too, because I know women love surprises (quite a bit of experience from my last g/f, mind yuo).

You're right, but I'm under the impression that hes never called this girl before, so it may also be best to not seem all "buddy buddy" with her, which can creep people out sometimes.

I don't think the - giving her time to think of why someone might have called her - is a bad idea, it incites curiosity.

You're also right Seafroggys, the best situation would be the surprise call, where you don't have to deal with the parents or siblings.

it's my teen years, i gotta live them up while they're still here...

well i just weighed myself after my shower and realized that i've gained 15 pounds since the last time i weighed myself. i'm guessing this is from summer break, sleeping in, eating really fatty foods for breakfast lunch and supper, and then eating sandwiches or nachos before i go to bed. so i decided i'm going to go on a diet for 2 weeks until camping, because i'll probably eat alot camping anyways. i'm not going to restrict myself from eating certain foods or anything, i'm just going to watch what i eat. i'm going to drink alot of water because i heard it keeps you full longer and it doesn't have calories or fat or carbs in it. any diet experts know anything i should try to stay away from? right now i'm at 180. let's see how much i can lose in 14 days. place your bets.

Your a guy right?....
The recomended calorie intake for men is about 2500 (I think), So, genreally try to keep to that limit, or below it....
Drinking water is a good idea....Or try to eat a lot of Negative Calorie foods (Some Fruits and Vegtables(?)-)...there's lists of them on the internet....
If you google it, you'll probably find out more....

oh god i'm hung over. i drank my mickey (captain mo's, i couldn't get jd) in 2 shots. then we walked around and i had some herb, which got me quite a bit more intoxicated. at which point i had a colt, which just took me over. i couldn't stand straight, and i tried to go to sleep but they said i should keep walking, so i told them i'd go for a walk and fell asleep in the grass (i'm full of mosquito bites) and i threw up quite a bit. not much compared to last time i threw up though. after i did that, they found me and lifted me up (it was 10:00 at this time, there was no way i was going home like that) so we walked around for a while, then they went to my friends house. i didn't feel good standing in one spot, so i stumbled around his block a few times, then went in and sat infront of the ol' bucket. after a while the sickness went away, and i was feeling great again. then i thought it was a good idea to sleep on his table. after about 5 minutes of sleep, it was back up again. i dry heaved for about 10 minutes, then i was good for the rest of the night. i was able to walk home fine, and didn't wake anyone up, which is a very good thing.

any cures for hangovers? this is the worst i've had.

p.s. captain mo got a new label (and bottle altogether) it looks sweet.

i've been drinking water, but i was always told that drinking water while hungover doesn't really do much, because you're already de-hydrated or something???

and about losing weight, i'm off fast food for 14 days, and i'm definately going to limit my fast food intake (mostly because of money) but are there certain common household foods that really aren't good weight-wise? should i stay away from calories, carbs, fat, ? there's diets for everything but i don't know which one to believe works.

Chris
07-31-2005, 01:22 PM
But it will flush the poison out your system. It works really.

The worst hangover i had was when i drank 1L of vodka and 1/2L or smurdolf ice in about 10 minutes.
From what i was told people had to cheak on me every 5minutes to see if i died, and my pluse went really low. The cure for that was to go canoeing in teh sea the next day :D

But what I'm fearing is a: She's going far away for college (like opposite coast) or b: She already has a boyfriend.

If either of those are true, there is possibility for us to get together, but those things pretty much screw any chances I have over anyway. Not liking me is one thing, but liking me but having those other obligataions would hurt even worse.

So I just got back from Pasco, Washington. Man that place is hot. Me and some other people from our church were helping the migrant workers there by helping in the daycare and vbs. I got to pick some apples while I was there, which was a lot harder than it looks. We toured their packing plant and their orchards too, so we got a pretty good idea of what it was like to work there. The orchard we worked at was also the largest apple orchard in the world with over 5,000 acres. So it was a good experience. But it's good to be back.

Oh crap its too late to call. I don't really want to tell my parents I need to use the phone for possibly 3 hours, so I'm trying to go around them using the phone and going online and stuff. My mom said she was going to go online at 8 to check up on something and then I was gonna call probably 8:30 but she got on late and it'll be after 9 'til she's done.

I'll try again tomorrow, but if I can't get her by then, I'll have to wait until I get back from vacation, which will be.....16th :(

But I'm not nervous anymore, can't wait to try again tomorrow.

I dunno really. I don't want one, or ever plan on having one. It just doesn't fit into the sound I want.

Too me, a china is an effects cymbal. You have one to use it where appropriate. Some people tend to overglorify them and get like 3-4 and use them all the time.

That's other people though, they have a sound they're looking for, I have the sound I'm looking for. IMO crashes, ride, and hats is all you need (and if you want the extra luxury, add a china, splash, etc.)

Ethan.

I got the 12" Wuhan china, I love it, but it decays too fast. I think the 16" will be my next china. I want one that sustains a little bit longer, but isn't too loud.

i'm not a fan of beer. it used to be the only thing i could drink, then one day i went to drink some after i had a migraine (can't let something minor like a migraine stop you from partying, right?) and i couldn't take more than a sip at a time without feeling sick. since then i feel sick every time i drink beer. vodka is one of the drinks i have to take 5-6 shots at a time, because i can't stand the taste, so it's best to get it down in 2 swigs. haven't tried jagermeister (is it expensive?) and i'm impartial to whiskey. some days it goes down good, some days bad. i freaking love rum though. captain mo's spiced rum, oh so good.

someone recommend me more things to drink. i want to expand my drinking. i've had these already: captain mo's rum, alot of different kinds of rum, whiskey (jd, r&r), vodka (smirnoff, bawls, russian prince), tequila (sauza)

Girls get guys pining after them ALL the time. You are just another regular guy trying to get there attention by being the submissive one.

You want to grab her attention. Be a man and step up the plate, be calm, collected and to the point.

She even gets a wiff that you've been spending this much time thinking bout just talking to her.. you're toast. Nothing better to do then sit around thinking about a girl ya don't know.

Well you're very right Jos (thats right, I got an answering machine, more on that later).

I shouldn't have to think about it, it should be spontaneous. However, seeing as I have never done this before, and I only have one chance to get her before I never have another chance (she's amazing....pretty and a hippy like myself! thats why I don't want to mess this up, because pretty hippies are a rare combination). I like to think everything through and every possible response to every single possible question ONLY if I freeze up. Once the conversation is happening I'm fine, I will be fine, and as long as I don't freak out I should be fine, but I'm only afraid that I'll freeze up and act all weird (which has happened before).

And the thing is, she is superior. She isn't like the normal girls that you probably encounter. She isn't the whole "spend tons on makeup trying to get guys type," she's higher then that. Her intellect and niceness (she's the only person I know who's nicer then me, and I'm **** nice, except on forums :p ) is what really pushes her ahead of the billions of other girls that I could get.

Now I realize that I will have chances in college and in my adult life, and plenty of chances with plenty of other women, but why not try now?

(btw why did you AIM me last night without saying anything?)

Now, onto the answering machine.

I didn't hear the whole message, but from what I understood is that they don't pick up phones until the answering machine activates. I'd rather not talk to a machine, but I'm gonna have to. I'll try again at 3, and just state "Hey this is a message for Jenny, its Justin, if you can please call me back at #####, thanks bye." Fast and consise.

I haven't been drunk in a while. I'm not a big Jack Daniels fan, so I don't drink more than 2 cups. (They mix it with coke or lemonade.) I'm a big vodka fan though. So true, I wish I had known this in high school- I coulda gotten so much *** if it weren't for my immaturity and foolishness, and general anxiety to get ***.

Girls can smell desperation like you smeared **** all over yourself, and its the most powerful and irreparable turn-off to them.

Simple **** to emote confidence and portray yourself as an alpha-male (which girls are attracted to first and foremost) is what will get you girls: hold eye contact with them until they look away (dont have to do this everytime but its important at first,) dont be too eager to please, walk slowly and confidently and project your voice clearly so as to not look shy, and TEASE them in a way that they will laugh, dont be an ***, but if you can bust a girls balls, man youve got them where you want em. Back to what Josiah said, dont think too much about one girl= go talk to as many girls about whatever you can think of whenever you have a chance, and you wont give a rats *** about one stupid girl, and theyll know it and itll help you a lot more than if you sit at home thinking about how much you like (translation: want to bang) any one girl in particular. Itll help your game out a lot.

So I call my dad and he comes out there and gives it a jump, just for good measure I fill it with some water and antifreeze and oil (all were kinda low), and it works again now.

Here's the problems with it:
> Drivers side window half works. The UP button works. The previous owners ghetto rigged an extension cord into that, and when it's in, up is up. When you unplug it and flip it, up is down.
> Passenger door SOMETIMES opens from the inside, hardly ever though.
> Some of the fuses were too high (replaced those today)
> Air conditioner doesn't work

I first started taking lessons last spring, where i took jazz percussion at montgomery college, a community college in montgomery county MD that i go to, and man it helped me so much. Since i first started focusing on technique, everything else fell into place and became so much easier.

My drumming style is funky/hard rock/jazzy, Im not good in terms of real good drummers, but I can make good beats and cool fills and people like jamming with me. I dont like metal drumming (usually, its too uptempo and doesnt change enough) or punk drumming (same deal,) My favorite drummers Bonham, favorite genre is classic rock, and generally im just awesome. I know what you mean about that beater car man.. I got one myself.. great for gas though cause it's a desiel.

I'm getting a new truck this month and a motorcycle next month so I'll prob just start abusing it as much as I can. I'm thinkin of trying to roll it in a parking lot while someone films or takes a picture....
