Innervision hasn't really got anything on any of Tools stuff. Even Intermission :p

I remember when we all first started, with first band in Australia, all we would play was System of a Down. Mainly the easy stuff, because he didn't really have much skill back then. We played Chop suey, Toxicity (tried to), ATWA, Innervision, CUBErt, among others.

I remember my guitar-playing-friend came to me and asked me to try and learn Schism. I had a listen, and I just couldn't comprehend what was going on. Waaay too advanced.

Yeah, playing Schism as precisely and accurately as Carrey is almost inpossible.

Know what im really getting bored of? The constant emo bashing. Now bashing the pop bands pretending to be emo (ffaf, fall out boy, my chemical romance) is fine. Real emo is decent music, its just hardcore punk with different lyrics

BetweenTheEchoes
12-07-2005, 06:06 AM
What exactly would you count as "true" emo then?

Japan3gro
12-07-2005, 06:15 AM
Naw hardcore punk is stuff like Champion, Bane, Comeback Kid haha. Nowhere near emo and definately not lyricly. I don't even think the bands you name pretend to be emo at all. But like I said before they attract the 14-15 yr olds that don't know any better so they just label it "emo". The fashion is what does that sort of thing.....like the weird haircuts, guys wearing girl pants etc..etc.

Drum Phil
12-07-2005, 06:39 AM
True emo i would count as stuff like saetia, love lost but not forgotten, floor of red, when we fall.

Man how can you resist those!

Jim, good news, i brought them to school to take home to the studio afterwards and i tested em with the schools kit.... NOT dissapointed. Just amazing, AMAZING hats. Sound great half open as well as tight. Warm and amazing sound, not to mention they will get better with age! I always play solo in the morning in front of a crowd of about 10-20 people, all just watching me. It was kinda odd at first, but now ive gotten used to it and kinda like it. Not to mention now i can easily improv shred in front of groups of people!:chug:

I'm reading again.
I should finish Jeanette Winterson's Gut Symmetries, then it's on to Neil Gaiman's American Gods, and hopefully I'll get to the library to get Tipping the Velvet.
I'm so embarassed when I borrow books involving lesbians.
When I was younger before everybody knew, I always promised myself that I would go buy books and movies full of homos, and tons and tons of pin ups, but I never did.
I'm still unbelievably shy about it.

He has a hernia. Which is:

The protrusion of an organ or structure into surrounding tissues. For example, an inguinal hernia occurs when part of the intestine protrudes through a weak point in the groin. Most hernias occur in the abdomen.

Do you have any suggestions for what clip I should give a listen to?
anything sub focus is good as well but go to that place under listen labled singles listen to some of that stuff. Pendulum-aonther planet is a good song. he has corny intros such as in slam but it gets good. i havent heard that high contrast song yet. but anything shy fx is good. im actually listening to shy fx and t power on my sound holder. it has singing in it. and organ. listen to that. i think its under dubplates. i have no idea what dub plates means but go listen to osme of that. understand what drum n bass really is.
but what makes drum n bass is the drum loop and the bass but the bass can be substituted with whatever such as in this case organ. theres a lot of freedom involved so it never gets boring.

if you have a chance get the high contrast-high society cd. most drum n bass cds are like 30 bucks so this is a pretty good deal 11.

We started out with some rudiment stuff and are going to be working out of stick controll a lot, so thats cool. Really nice guy and has a lot of great influences like danny carey, carter beauford, steve gadd, josh freese, and so on.

i took this sample mensa test in psychology. i got 24/25. we had a set 20 minutes, my score should be higher because i finished in ten minutes. but that was the funnest test i ever took AND it made everyone looke like an idiot since they all scored 10-12. that made me happy.

i completely forgot. today started out as the best day ever because i actually enjoyed being around the people in pyshics hwo are usually idiots. but then i get to lunch and i drive off with my friend. we go to three places all packed so we leave get to safeway. get to the sandhich department. thres two people, one almost done. ok thats alright i can wait. four mexican workers come stand in front of the glass that has the food, which is where they arent supposed to stand. instead of being inline like me. the brown lady helps them first. So i just got cut by four people(they each bought their own thing) im standing there for 5-10 minutes. ok . this tall white guy comes up, gets in front of me. the lady looks to him and goes how can i help you. and begins to ****ing order. so i was like you fukcin **** i was in line. i was pretty angry. and hes like oh im sorry. and then he said something about me being agry but he used a differnt word i dont remember what it was. then i order my sandswhich, takes them another five minutes to get bread. and then the lady messes up his order and hes like "its not ****ing rocket science its a just a sandwhcih' what an asshole im glad i yelled at him. then i bring my sandwhich into class(a common practice at our school, not sure why) but i usually dont do that out of respect. and we get to vote wether to take the test now or later and then we have to take it now. so now i have to put my damn sandwich aside while i crap this test over because i forgot about it. yeah thats it. i didnt even get raost beef like i wanted i got this dry *** turkey and this bacon which wsant suppoesd to be in it. but oh well.

I did infact go and see them yesterday evening (In the Glasgow Gorbels!).

They were AMAZING.
And their first support band 'Octavia Sperati' were brilliant aswell.
However, their second support band were scary.
Don't get me STARTED on their singer.
Yes, he was a good singer, but he was weird.

I was almost attacked by some lesbians, burnt in the head by a cigarette, pushed into the pit, and had someone put their arms around my waist...

Ugh.
I have three alarm clocks.
One set for 6:00, one for 6:10, and one for 6:25.
So after they all go off, I decide to lay down and sleep for five more minutes.
I wake up at 8:03.
I look out my window to be met with pure white. It's snowing. Hard.
It also happens to be extremely windy out.
Not a plow, salt truck, or snow removal crew on the road, and guess who's the worst driver in the world?
Instead of having the car taken away again for going into the ditch, I called my dear sweat grandmother.
She told me to take the day off.
Me, being the idiot I am and forgetting that old people are never sarcastic, thought she was kidding, and waited half an hour for her.
I called her again, and she told me to take the day off again. I started to argue with her, hung up, and got my sister to drive me.
She called our house 36 times.
My mom is flipping the **** out on me now.

well if he already said you could use it then he is an asshole. but you should use yours. i know i dont like people going on my kit. doesnt matter how expensive it is, its his kit and he gets to decide who uses it..maybe he saw you play and thought you hit to hard?thats not his fault...i know if i saw you ****ing around the slightest bit on a kit i wouldnt let you even look at my kit.

also, the exports are crap. the swingstar isnt much better, but the exports are bottom line next to CB and RB

So she wouldnt get arrested for me being a dumbass one night (and countless other acts of stupidity, which wouldnt have happened if I was in school) I chose to emmancipated at 16, I then chose to go to school once I became a bum. I finally figured out how hard it is to live, let alone live on nothing.

In short im telling everyone to stay in school. I have become what I used to hate (Preaching of school etc) Only because I went through it the stupid way, Whatever you do don't get expelled.

The only reason I wasnt flat out expelled the first year of eigth grade was because they had me go into some therapy course, Which was again a waste of my time, because nothing was wrong with me, Besides stupidity.

Ya my response was a little late but I had school, then went to L&M, and then chilled with my bassist so I just got home.

hello everyone. my migraines are pretty much gone for now. how relieving. they were fairly bad, too.

anyways, i have a question for you guys. anyone who's good with science. do you consider light to be matter? the reason i ask this is because i was sitting in science class, and i started guessing how much the classroom weighed in total. desks, kids, computer, etc. then i started to think about air. then, since we just finished talking about light, i wondered if a lit room would weigh more (of course it wouldn't be a significant difference, just miniscule) than a dark room, due to the room being full of light waves. i asked my teacher and she didn't know, and i searched google for a while and got a report from '96 about the person talking about doing tests on whether or not light has a volume/takes up space.

rockindrummer
12-10-2005, 01:12 AM
I would say it wouldn't but then again it probally does and I just have no clue what I'm saying. We havn't even gotten anything close to the in science yet, but I will ask my teacher when we do, as i'm now curious to find out.

I'd say no, that's what I've always learned. But then again, I'm only a sophomore, so I haven't learned much.

styler
12-10-2005, 01:18 AM
what did you buy rockindrummer?

also, sic i imagine it would weigh something miniscule as light is heat and heat would have a weight in a miniscule way as well. (i think, i havent been in school for a few months so i might be wrong)

rockindrummer
12-10-2005, 01:21 AM
I bought a 12" real feel pad, stick control, and a couple pairs of vic firth 5b's.

rockindrummer
12-10-2005, 01:35 AM
nah I had one of the remo ones. You the white ones with the grey boader type thing. http://www.remo.com/portal/products/2/592/618/619/pp_individual.html those ones. But I hated the thing, it was really loud and didn't feel all that great.

styler
12-10-2005, 01:44 AM
i have an 8" remo one, it isnt great, its too small for me i suppose..but i dont like the HQ reel feel ones either, doesnt feel like a snare, too solid, it doesnt give way like a snare head does, thats what i kinda like about the remo one....if they could like..combine the two of them..i think it would be perfect

^ Night.

Ya the real feel doesn't feel like a snare head but it is a lot better then the remo one, imo. The real feel one is a lot quiter which is nice.

do you consider light to be matter?

From my memory, light acts like both a particle and a wave. For instance, light's path bends when it gets close to a planet or some other large mass (as if it were affected by its gravity). This would suggest that light has mass, but it in fact doesn't. So, in theory, it shouldn't bend around planets as explained by newtonian physics. As I've learnt, you can think of space as a giant sheet. When you put a heavy object (representing a planet) on it, the sheet will sink at that particular point. Now if you roll a marble next to it, the marble will move in a circular path around the heavy object, as light does to a planet.

So, in summary, light has no mass. And your science teacher should have known that :thumb:

I think maybe they should just get rid of all the musicians in the world.
Line us all up, miles and miles long, tie us to ****ing poles, and shoot each one of us. Have them video tape it and let generations see how the goold old boys got rid of the evil people rotting their minds with artistic garbage.
Then they can just make CD's with tons of stupid electronic beeps and subliminal bible messages and feed it to all the mindless idiots that make up the entire ****ing world.

That is actually a very, very intelligent post. I would +rep you, but whenever I try repping now, it just shoots me to the top of the page....

yeah i had a dream about l & m last night. now i know its a store but i have never seen one or been to one. so this is how it goes we were coming back on the train home(i take bart to san francisco sometimes that a light rail system) except i dont even know where the hell i was this was definetly not a californian city it was more like metropolis. so i get off and me and my friends go to l and m but its late so we cant stay that long. i go inside and theres all these stand and drums and im like OMG. then i talk to the guy at the counter and he makes me listen to his band. and im like this is the best ****ing band that ive ever heard but i remember thinking that his drumming skills were mediocre and nothing special. then i go look around only stands and then some arcade games. so im liike what the hell wasnt this a drum shop. so i keep oging and i go into this room. theres all these pictures of bands like guitar people and like two drum people. then im thinking this is such bull****. so i walk out of the room and into the main again and to the left of me is dance dance revolution and those driving games. so now its basically an arcade. and i dont know how this happened but it relates to how yesterday my friend and i went into frys(because he wnated osmething) and he ended up spending n hour there because he couldnt get a discount and it was dark when we were outside and i was pissed. so i turn around and theres only three drum stand, one a gold ludwig one. and the guys still at the counter but theres like this magazine rack of records under him but those were always there. then we walk outside and its morning and im like goddamit tyler its ****ing 6 am. so then i go left and we end up at this hippy festival but its not as detailed but the security gaurd lady form our school took my food as we were sitting down.

yeah l&m sucked

Wow.
I just got back from All County auditions.
I think I've finally gotten over it. I wasn't nervous at all.
Normally the day before I'm freaking out and practicing like a maniac and getting so upset with myself, but I was just totally calm.
I practiced for 1/2 an hour last night, 10 minutes this morning, and I did a quick warm up before I played.
It was great.
I wasn't shaking at all when I went in to play, I actually spoke in an audible voice to my judge. God.
I didn't get my score, though.
It sucks being the last audition before lunch.
I'm so happy with myself, anyways.

You could try to find some new lugs for it depending on how they are on there now... or even powdercoat it.
