My jazz band played a gig tonight as well. We did alright. Me and 2 of my friends (one on guitar, one on keyboard) got to fill up a bit of time too. We played 4 songs: our own arrangements of Fur Elise and Carol of the Bells, a song we wrote just an hour before the performance, and a riff that we just jammed on that kinda turned into a song as we played. Hooray for improvisation.

I had my last year 12 German exam last Tuesday and I think I did badly.

the only local music store where i live is a piece of junk. they mainly focus on school bad instruments. the guitar sections not bad for it's size, but the drum section sucks. everything has to be special ordered, meaning you have to wait about two weeks, pay the store's outrageous(sp) price, plus tax.

you can find stuff on the internet for about $100 cheaper if not more. i'd still like to work there, but they aren't ever hiring and the manager is never there to talk to.

But it's not the tension rods that de-tune the drum, it's the fact that the heads wear out and lose tension.

The worst part was when I read the description: "LuG LoCkErZ!!! These little babies are here to stop those pesky tension rods from flyin' outta your drums!"

That night we flew throught he streets cawing(like a crow) at cars and flying around them. WE eventually fell onto the sidewalk and layed there for half an hour because we couldnt breathe very well. Then we walked home.

My band teacher is a duece. Today were playing a song he made in jazz band and I need to play straight eigths for one part. I'm playing it then we switch to the bridge then we switch back and I do the eigths again. All of a sudden I see I'm a little behind so I catch up with him. Then I slow down again, now he starts clapping, and then he eventually comes up to me and claps, in front of me and I end up not being able to keep up with the tempo. I know he was speeding up because I the first time we played it I was comfortable playing at that tempo and at the second time I couldn't keep up. Then he goes its bad when a drummer doesn't have time. I should've flipped him off and walked out

i agree. we have a bible study at lunch at my school, which they put posters up everywhere for. i brought up the idea to the vice principal of me starting up an atheist get-together at lunch once a week or so, and he said that they can't legally host anything of the sort in the school. it's really the same principles, just different beliefs. yet, legally, i guess you can't be an atheist?

oh, and i sent myself an email with my essay attached so i could finish it for monday, when it's due, but the email never went through. and i don't feel like starting a whole new essay, since the one at school took 2 hours, and i'm 3/4 done it. looks like i'll hand it in late.

My experiences today, looking at cymbals.

Why do cymbals have to be so expensive over here in europe?
I drive up to a drumshop, about half an hour away. Ask about pricing for 3005s, turns out to be around €1400. Bit more that I was expecting, but not too much.
Then come the cymbals. I go to try out some Hi-Hats first. I like the sound of the 13" HHX Stage hats. I ask how much they are.

€419

Four hundred and nineteen euros!
I go back to look at some more. I like the 14" Paragon hats. Ask about price: €483.
Even the 13" A new beats were €370
I was not pleased.

Moving onto ride cymbals, they had no Paragon rides in stock ( :( ). I asked about the price anyway. €480.

Compared to the prices on massmusic, i could get the whole paragon set for the same price as the hats, ride and china.

This means I'll have to drive 2 and a half hours to the other drumshop (which happens to be the biggest drumshop in europe :D )

I did however get one good thing out of my trip. I got to play on a Ludwig Kit with 3 Bass drums, and almost 20 toms. I've decided that I want a 20+ piece kit next.

Hmm, i'll check out music produktiv, sounds interesting. The drive down to drumworld is over 2 hours (living just outside Den Haag), so i'm not sure if i'm willing to drive that far!

I know Drumworld is a bit expensive, but it's got a big selection, so it's a good place to test out cymbals :)

last week my firends niehgbor put these weird lettuce things on their white dusty toyota camry. I stopped, looked then drove on around the corner and a few hosues down to my friends house. This week i went back. All of te lettuce was lined up on the ground. i stopped looked and went to my friends house. We drive up, pass it a little bit. Get out take the lettuce, and put half of it in the bag, the rest just sits on top. I run to the car get ready and he jumps in and slams the door. We drive away.

I call my other friend find out where he is. I go to seven eleven, hes not there. I drive aorund with a huge leaf of lettuce in my hand and the sunroof open. I dont find him. Call him again keep driving. I see him. I stand up out the roof and we begin to bomb him with lettuce. One got his foot but the rest missed. He was surrounded by lettuce. what a wonderuful day.

I get the sh*ts from coffee and my I have asma(can't spell just sound it out, wish my luck on my next word...) and bronchidus. I'm lucky that the asma isn't bad so it doesn't affect me and my lungs get stronger from playing the tuba but they are still weak. The brochidus starts acting up around this time of year and I miss about a week or 2 of school

Awsome, welcome to forums(although you've been here a while) you can learn alot. Metallica rocks but don't mention Ulrich unless you want to start a major flame fest. Honestly there are alot of better drummers and you can find them, go to the gear and media they have a thread of videos and they have ALOT of good ones with buddy rich, ed shaunasee, Beauford and a couple of others.
