Ok, I have found the problem with my snare strainer. It's missing some Premier Leaf Springs. I talked to Mike from DM Drums, and he is sending me a set of 4, and he isn't asking for money upfront! He said he'll just add an extra 1 pound to my next order from them. He is definately one of the coolest drum dealers I have ever come across. Nobody is as easy going as him. He's a role model for the rest of us.

He even has nude pics of his wife on his site......:naughty:

haha i know what you mean jim. there's nothing worse than that. and considering i let mine grow out long before i ever shave it, it's so much worse.

i just got another half hour lecture about drinking/school, and how i turned out to be the complete opposite of what my mom hoped i would. all thanks to my friend telling his mom that "all of us" (really only 4 of the 8 people) were drinking this weekend at the elementary school with "a bunch of grade 9's we didn't even know", even though it was 3 girls that i've known for years, who walked by and stopped to talk to me for 10 minutes, and they weren't even drinking.

Death/Black Metal, whichever one, but hey, they did a **** good job of it. The singer looked like Ron Jeremy. Very heavy but yeah. Good show.

5 big dudes playing some killer metal, the 4 in front (IE all but drummer) in Hawaiian shirts, lol

Yeah I tried shaving with dull blades it sucked, it hurt more then anything, like it was pulling the hairs out instead of cutting them. and i hadn't shaved since wednesday, so they were fairly grown out.

So what's everybodies preferance? Electric, dual bladed, triple bladed, etc?

I use both dual and triple. The triple is a closer shave, but I like my dual more because of the handle's form, plus I know what make it is so I can replace blades.

Aaron
10-04-2005, 12:44 AM
dual bladed disposable with that allo vera strip on top.. use one with really-hot water, and throw away

Double Bass Jim
10-04-2005, 12:45 AM
Single blade, non-floppy tip so I can shave nice staright lines.

Win A Rabbit
10-04-2005, 12:46 AM
i just use whatever my mom picks up. i usually use a blade 2 or 3 times, and i shave once every week or 2, so a blade lasts me like a month. i've tried an electric razor twice, but each time, my hairs have been to long, and the razor just ripped them out of my skin, leaving a big patch of bleeding skin. ouch, that hurt so bad.

i'm thinking about buying a trimmer though, since i like having a bit of hair on my face, but usually not a full on beard. i don't like shaving it all off, since i'll go 2 weeks with hair, then 2 days where there's pretty much nothing, and it just looks weird. i'd want like a barber's trimmer, where you can put a numbered thing on top, so it would only cut it to a certain length. plus, if i ever got really bored, i could draw designs in it... i'd have to be REAL bored.

Seafroggys
10-04-2005, 12:50 AM
dual bladed disposable with that allo vera strip on top.. use one with really-hot water, and throw away

Invest in a reusable shaver (with replaceable blades of course) much better, higher quality, it'll save you money in the long run and you'll get to know how your shaver works real well so you can do things fancier or faster.

BTW I shave three times a week (mon wed fri) unless I want stubble then usually once a week.

What's the best thing you could possibly think of coming home to after a crap day of school (realistically)?

Well when I got home, I threw my bag done, took off my blazer and tie, undid my top button and sat down.

Hello British Boy

You received the following message from: davidh (*******@fsmail.net)

At: http://www.mikedolbear.co.uk/forum/

You seem very keen on Premier. I have a 1960s 14x4 "piccolo" Royal Ace
metal shell snare in very good condition I am prepared to donate to a good
cause like yours - better it gets some use than sitting in my loft. Are
you interested in it?

Dear Dave,

You bet im keen on Premier! I love their stuff. I would very much LOVE a
piccolo snare, especially a metal one, but I don't really have any money :(
If by donate you mean only charge me for shipping and give me the snare for
free, well that would be incredible! I have honestly never experienced such
generosity.

Good stuff - at least it goes to a good home.
I saw your pictures of the kit and was moved to move it on as it were.
I also have a lokfast stand for it I will parcel up too... let me know where to ship it to, unless you live with a reasonable drive of Guildford in Surrey.
I am an old fart who has been playing for 45 years and I my first kit was a Premier in 1962 - don't play too much kit now only in scottish pipe bands.
You are welcome to it - I thought your "extra snare" on the side didn't quite fit!

Thats a cool shot, what a background!

Yeah its Kiger Gorge in Southeastern Oregon. If any of you visit Oregon, instead of staying around Portland and the coast like most people do, go down to the Steens Mountain in the southeastern corner, nobody goes down there and it has the best scenery. Of course its all outhouses and manuel pump water out here, but its ****ing worth it.

I'm Joonas, it seems that I joined the forum back in 2001. Haven't been an active poster in at least a year, thou. Anyhow, I've been playing drums since the year 2000. I currently play in melodic heavy band called Opain and blues-rock band Mysterious Ways. I listen to music from jazz to thrash metal. Some of my favourite drummers are John Bonham, Mike Portnoy, JP Gastor of Clutch, Brain. The energy in their music and drumming moves and inspires me.

I'm 22 years old as I'm writing this. And I've got too many things happening in my life right now, can't keep up a very good posts-per-day status on this forum.

..and I wish I had the energy to practise as much as I did a couple of years ago.

i found Ken the perfect snare. its a ludwig 8x14 maple with an outer ply of waterfall bubinga.

correct me if im wrong, but is that not exactally what hes been waiting for osiris to make him for a year.

EDIT: i just looked at the dales e-mail again, they have the limited edition tama artwood (7x13) for $129, but the regular artwoods (5.5x10 and 4x13) are $169, but come with a free stand.

they also have a limited edition bubinga vineer with abalone inlay snare that i am seriously thinking about buying if the price is right.

spike9908
10-04-2005, 05:51 PM
well the ludwig is $389, the tama bubinga is $469(so im not getting that). i might see if i can afford a small size of the ludwig or get the 7x13.

i'll give you the best advice i can...

make sure you are 100% ready to do them. it'll reduce the chance of you freaking out once you realize you're high. and you don't want to freak out. you're going to be high for a minimum of about 3 hours, make sure you're not scared. make sure you've got a place to do them, and i wouldn't really advise you walking around town if you're doing alot, since they messed me up pretty good. try anything to keep yourself from freaking out, please. and the comedown for me was terrible, be ready for that. i'd advise just going into a room by yourself or something if you start getting all "antsy", since i started getting mad if people were around, so i went outside for a little walk. they understood.

and prepare to laugh about any and everything for 3+ hours. the back of my head was hurting from constantly laughing.

good luck, that's about all the advice i can really give.

shrooms messes with the communication between your frontal lobe(logic and thinking) and your visual cortex(seeing). What happens is it messes with your visual cortex and makes it see things and it cant make sense of any of that because its disconnected from the logic part of the brain.

I ewnt to the DMV today. man, i was practicing my rudiments, and i chucked all over the carpet. no warning or anything, it just came flying up my throat and out my mouth in a little ball shape. i hate when that happens, so i'll tell you all a story about it.

i get motion sickness on occasion, and when i do, it hits me bad. i'll be in a car, and it'll hit me, and at that point, if i'm not looking at the lines on the road, my head just starts spinning. now usually it doesn't happen all that often, but occasionally it'll catch me. well i was at the carnival in the city a year ago, and i went on the gravitron (you guys have probably all been on one of these, it spins around and sucks you to the walls) for the 3rd time that day. 10 seconds into it, i feel my head start to spin. i know this is a bad thing to be happening, so i try to just lay back and wait for it to finish. as we're walking out finally, i start getting really light-headed. my friend asks me what's wrong, and as i open my mouth to speak, a big ball of vomit comes flying out, and lands right on his arm, totally covering it from shoulder to hand. after that, i was good.

that's my amazing story. enjoy.

I think it's awesome how snake is old. But he actually isn't old at all, Liquid says in MGS2 that because of their genetic clone structure they age faster. I mean, MGS4 is only some 10 years after Big Shell, and he looks atleast 20 years older since that.

Metal gear 3 was awesome but the MGS series gets boring because they're all similar. Sons of liberty was basically identical to twin snakes.

Has anyone got every in-game camo and face paint yet? Im missing one as far as i know.

Hi, my name's Aaron and I've come here because I have a drinking problem... not really, but I am a fifteen-year-old drummer from Florida who's been playing for two years. Right now I'm in a full-time ska band and once in a while I'll get together with some guys and play some jazz/funk jam.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot, some of my favorite bands/musicians are: phish, operation ivy, thelonius monk, streetlight manifesto, buddy rich, and bob marley.

He might be.

Perhaps I've come to the wrong conclusion.

On a preview, there "Snake" creeping around somewhere. Then a little robot thing appeared with Otacon, saying something about 'Retiring' and whatnot.

Sorry, I've probably confused things.

^^haha, i sort of had the same thing, but it was a ghetto jump on this hill near my house with the day AFTER it snowed, so it was all ice. and that was the day i broke my wrist. first time off the jump too. kept going for a few more hours before it hurt too much.

the game had great potential. i liked the way you could throw people with the whole rag-doll physics and all, but i don't know about the best game ever created.

i know it's a completely different genre, but just wait until Elder Scorlls Oblivion for the 360 comes out.

Ah man, I have the worst snowboarding story.

I hate snowboarding by the way.

So I was going really slow at this rail on the ground, and I got on and tried to hop off like a retard, and my board slipped out from under me and I landed full force on my shins, right on the rail, then flew my head forward into the iccy side, where I blacked out for a second.

That was like, the 3rd run of the entire day, so the rest of the day I had to continue snowboarding with a lump on my foot the side of a golfball, and the worst part was it was rubbing up on the hard top of my boots alllll day, every turn, every bend. So bad.

I did horrible the first(and last) time I tried snowboarding. I couldn't even make it down the smallest hill without falling, I was terrible at it. Skiing is MUCH easier.

Speaking of snow, I woke up today and looked out the window, and it was freaking snowing!!! Its too early for snow :(

right now my "to by list" is as follows:14"paiste 2oo2 crunch hats and elim. stand
17" istanbul traditional crash and roadpro boom
6.5x14 cherry black panther snare and pearl 800 stand
16" zildjian A custom crash and stand (maybe a reg. A, not sure)
18" paiste innovations china and stand
8" paiste dark energy splash and clamp
18" paiste sig. fast crash w/ stand
18" 2oo2 novo china w/ stand
19" saibian HHX crash (not sure which, maybe a AA) w/ stand
20" istanbul sultan pang or 19" paragon china w/ stand

some snares and other drums in there and heads as needed.

Although I would like a 18" sig crash to go on my left side and 19" a custom crash (maybe) to go on my right above and just behind my china. This won't be for a while, and probally after I get a new kit as I already have a nice enough set of cymbals to last me a while.

about snowboarding, man i'm terrible at it. i tried one time, and when i finally got over the "falling every 10 seconds" phase, i tried going down the hill. i was doing pretty good, then i went to turn inside, and caught by back edge and fell directly back on my neck. the "paramedic" people wouldn't let me move until they brought that big snowmobile up because they thought i broke something. after that, i went in and traded my snowboard for skis. i kick a'ss at skiing. and it's so manly too.

well i got an essay back in social class today. i got 95%, man i kick a'ss.

and it was early out, (first wednesday of every month) so i was able to have myself a nice 2 hour nap.

man i used to be amazing at soccer, but then i lost all interest in it. most of my lost interest was caused by the "politics" of the whole thing, once i saw how it was being run/where it was going/what reasons were behind it. once i saw that, i stopped playing high level soccer and started playing community level with my friends, then i just got bored of it. my parents are always nagging at me to get back into it, because they think i stopped so i could go get hooked on crack or something.

I play goalie and I totaly know what you mean. The ref I had last game was a total idiot and seemed like he was bribed by the other team. He missed 5+ offsides and overrulled a hand ball in the box. That penalty shot would have one us the game but the ref was an idiot.

i got close to my coach and respected him so much, then i got to the point where he'd actually tell me that he had found ways around the system to get every player he wanted on his team, and that he'd bribe ref's, and he'd teach the kids on my team things like how to injure someone without making it look like you even touched them, how to tackle someone so to try to take them out for the rest of the game, etc. needless to say, that was the last time i played for him, or any high level team, since i didn't want to be a part of that.

well at first, i thought it was "cool" to be able to hurt someone by barely hitting them, but once i saw how he acted towards other things, i realized i'd been kind of "brainwashed" into the kind of soccer player i had become, with a mix of immaturity (i had been taught these things since i was 12-13) and a desire to win. but i had no intent of winning like that. he was a good guy, too.
