I found the new Thrice album today.. (leaked) and I'm still going to buy the record... but what do you guys think of downloading leaks and music in general??

i generally only dl music if its a band that i havent heard much of before and if i like it, i get the CD.

Josiah
09-30-2005, 07:00 PM
Bands don't get any money from CD sales. If you want to support the band, mail them a dime if you download the album. That 10 cents is far more then the band would have got from an official album sale.

Support the bands. Not the corperations.

Oh yea.. that sounds like something you should do. Not.

Stick to pot or somethin, if you need drugs like that to have fun you need to seek professional help.

DMT is VERY different from acacia... you need to find out exactly what you are doing.

Secondly, having used DMT. Don't.

If you knew what it was, and what you were in for - you wouldn't be asking these questions. You run a potential of thigns you couldn't imagine.

Again do NOT take that drug. You need to understand what you are taking before you take it. You don't understand it, because you're asking about it.

Just for kicks, google it (what an idea?!). It is one of the most extreme halucingens you can take. You need to have experience with other more mild types of drugs.

To put it into terms, a DMT trip is considered taking the whole of an 8 hour LSD trip and condensing it into 15 minutes.

Bad trips on DMT have made people insane for life.

I'm in my first band now, and we have a gig for halloween at a party. Sounds great right? Well, not exactly.

The problem is, we only had one practice so far. We aren't even 100% for one song yet. I don't know what to do... The guitarist/singer, who sucks anyways, says "oh we'll work it out, don't worry..."

And all he wants to do is covers. And I don't even like the songs that he wants to doa lot. He acts like since he put the band together, he has the most say in everything. It's pissing me off. I'm thinking about quitting, but I think this is my only chance to be in a band for a while. There aren't many guitarists out in this area I know of that like classic rock, and have talent.

...just looking for some ideas. If I quit, maybe I will try some Keith Moon **** during the show and start screwing around and throwing sticks at the guitarists.

Holes in your brain?! WTF kinda school do you go to?

Perhaps cell death, particularly in the nuron-receptors, more specifcally the dopeamine and seritonin receptors, wich useally aren't killed but left "stuck on" from drugs such as cocaine, E, heroin, etc

DMT is a naturally occuring chemical in the brain, it is believed to be mostly responsible for the very real halucinations in dreams that most people experience when dreaming.

In that sense, it prob is not bad for you physically.. though it could do irreversable physcological harm. Plus whatever you may do to yourself while on it.

In the case of DMT, it's not totally known how it works. It's not like mushrooms where you are giving your body a toxin, and the effects of that toxin are the "trip". Wich is also very different then LSD, wich can have some rather nasty side effects as well.

To Faith.. You can have pleasurable expeirences with DMT. I don't think you understand the nature of the drug however. With drugs this powerful, your surroundings will dissapear and matter not to you. You will be completelly, 100% out of touch with reality. It is very dangerous in this sense as you may move around, and have no idea what is around you. You could trip on a chair that was right in front of you and break your neck. Or touch a hot stove, fall off a curb, out of a chair, try and walk out of a window.. down the street, etc etc

"Perhaps cell death, particularly in the nuron-receptors, more specifcally the dopeamine and seritonin receptors, wich useally aren't killed but left "stuck on" from drugs such as cocaine, E, heroin, etc"

yes thats what i was referring to. What happens when they stuck on the receptors is that your body cant produce them themselves which causes you, if serotonin receptors are gone, to become depressed later on in life.

Josiah
09-30-2005, 08:46 PM
Yes, and "pleasure" becomes less as you've basically fried the pleasure receptors in your brain.

Though long term use of such drugs will eventually do massive cerebral damage anyway, along with numerous other nasty things.

Occasional use is prob not that bad for you, deff not any worse then most peoples daily Mc Donalds or Starbucks habits.

I also wantted to mention. You need to be totally calm and collected going into using such a drug. If you are nervous about taking it. Do Not Take It.

Time lapse is a big issue with DMT, just like people can dream for 4 or 5 mins and to them it was days. People have reported trips on DMT through other worlds that were to them, many years long, in reality they were only tripping for 15 mins.

to the whole drug thing, definately don't take anything until you are 100% ready to take it. without ever having more than a little buzz off of marijuana (while sober) and taking mushrooms, i was completely unprepared for the feeling that mushrooms brought on. for about 3 hours, i had almost no control over myself, and the comedown was terrible. it freaked me out so bad. i had the misconception that mush would be like pot, just stronger. man i was wrong. i'm just glad my parents were gone for that weekend, and that i did them in my own house, or i would have been totally f'ucked.

anyways... i've been cutting back on my eating alot lately, i usually just eat a half bowl of cereal in the morning, a sandwich (on "carb counting" bread) for lunch, and usually a sandwich again for supper. occasionally i'll have a little bit of whatever my mom's cooking, but i'm usually not home for supper anyways. other than that, i'm just drinking water and chewing gum. i find that if i'm chewing gum, i don't have the desire to eat until i'm actually hungry, which is good because i used to eat when i was bored all the time.

is it bad if i'm only getting a fraction of the whole "2000 calories a day" ? in an average day, i'll only get about 5-600 calories, i'm just worried since calories are used for energy, will this affect me in any bad ways?

well i was supposed to work tomorrow, but i'm not so sure i am anymore. last weekend, my dad offered me $200 cash to work this weekend doing inventory and such. but i haven't talked to him since tuesday, so i don't know if he'll remember to take me into work with him tomorrow. oh well. i could go for some rest anyways.

question: would you guys rather work at a place like tim horton's... OR... at a movie rental store? these are the jobs i've narrowed myself down to applying at, but it's kind of like the lesser of 2 evils here.

Sam Bredeson
10-01-2005, 01:04 AM
Dude, how can you eat only 600 calories a day? And, BTW, a 2000 calorie diet is for people who are trying to lose weight- a typical diet is 2500 calories.

I probably eat like 3000, and I'm lovin every minute of it!

Josiah
10-01-2005, 01:09 AM
That's really not possible to only intake 600 calories a day.

Most people are morons when it comes to food though.

"Calories" really means nothing. You could eat 1,500 calories of great food wich would give you far more energy then 3,000 calories of crap food (IE Double Western Bacon Cheese Burger or starbucks frap)

I try and eat near 5k a day, but I'm growing like a weed and lift a lot. That's a very heavy protein diet as well. Lots of fruits too! And tuna.. love tuna. Also got my multi-vit's and my "mud", wich is protein/oat's mix.

Dude, how can you eat only 600 calories a day?
well i'm trying to catch my weight before i get to the point where i'd call myself "fat". so if i'm hungry, i'll have a sandwich with cheese, lettuce, and a tiny bit of meat instead of putting some pizza pops in the microwave or something. and instead of juice and pop, i'll just drink water all day.

and it is possible for me to intake 600 a day.

a cup and a half of rice krispies is something like 110 calories, and the slices of bread i eat sandwiches on are 70 each.

so that's 110 in the morning, then the rest of the day is 280 + a little bit of cheese, and 2 thin slices of ham.

Double Bass Jim

You do realize that by not eating your body will actually store more fat then if you ate more?

Your body goes "I'm not getting enough to eat, this isn't good. I don't know when I'll get more. I should store up what I have and try and hold on to it."

Eat a healthy, well balanced diet and excerise. You'll be just fine. Want to look like a star? Well eat very healthy, a lot, work out a lot.

People seem to think it's a 1 facet thing though. It's 2 facets. Diet AND excerise.

You can eat a ton, and run a lot.. you'll be lean. Eat a ton, sit around a lot. You'll be fat.

Eat a nice amount, workout a lil bit. You'll be normal.... actually no, you'll be better then normal cause so many people are fat now.

Of course.. you will always be limited and fighting against your genetics. If you are dutch, don't ever expect to be able to keep a tan.. ya dig?

I won't ever look like arnold, but I got a goal in mind that I think is good.

so what would you recommend i eat? i know to stay away from fast foods and everything.

what to stay away from? carbs? calories? something else? there's millions of diets out there, each saying to stay away from a different thing, and my mom's tried almost all of them, but she hasn't seen any major results.

and what would be the best workout routine? unfortunately i don't have much at my house (a bike and a one-person trampoline) and it's starting to get cold out here. would you still recommend jogging? how long each day?

By the way, it's not a diet.. it's a lifestyle. It's your everyday eating and movement habits.

When you go somewhere, park your car in the back of the lot so you have to walk a lil bit. Take a walk around the block, maybe just run around it a few times.

It's not too hard really, stay away from very fatty foods, candy, etc.. trim the fat off your steak, chicken.. have some nice brown or mixed rice.

For breakfest I like a bowl of cereal, with maybe 75cc's of plain oats, half/cup of frosted flakes (i know I have a weakness for them), somes trawberries or other fresh fruit. Maybe I'll have an apple or a can of peaches. I'll have a glass of water and a glass of OJ (both 32oz), take my mutli-vit and a few other things.

Of course, I load up on food. But healthy eating is fairly easy and it's CHEAPER then eating fast food!!

I'd recomend checking out the bodybuilding.com forums, there is a TON of nutritional information, meal plans, etc etc on there.

Carbs are underrated. Atkins is an idiot. I love my Carbs (breads, rolls, waffles, muffins, etc.) i probably have more carbs than anything else.

On that note, instead of cutting back one thing (like nowadays its carbs, 10 years ago it was fats) cut back EVERYTHING in balance. Your body needs a certain balance of nutrients to stay healthy. Having low carb intake is not good no matter what.

Well today was awsome. A friday which ment short day at school and I got to go down to L&M after school. I picked up some new heads, coated emps for batters and clear amb for resos. I also got a 10" K splash. I love this thing it fits in really nicely with my other cymbals and is really fun to play around with and accent on every once and a while.

For everyones info I am not loaded. Just an average 14 year old. I had been planing to go down there from the beggining of this week to pick a splash and heads. I had just gotten paid for doing a bunch of work up at my friends cabin, so what else to spend it on, but drums. I guess it does sound a bit casual after rereading it.

Thanks Jim. I havn't gotten a chance to put the new heads on yet but the splash sounds awsome, and i'm sure the new combo will too.

whoo

So I just got my band on the bill to play with Embrace Today at El Torreon on December 3rd, and we're playing with Across Five Aprils on thursday.

Tonight I was scheduled to work 4-11pm, and I was telling somebody else that last night and they checked and the manager that closes tonight had switched me to 6-2(pm to am)! Without asking me or even telling me!
All just to benefit herself with another closer.

WTF?!

I'm considering screwing her over and going in at 4 anyways, or going in at 6 and complaining a lot.

well it turns out that my dad didn't forget to take me into work with him today, he just decided that i didn't put enough effort in to re-state that we had arranged that i was working this weekend. i told him "i'll work on the 1st and 2nd" but i guess i have to re-tell him every day to make that valid. and to put icing on the cake, he's home for a max. of 15 minutes before he goes to bed, and i'm usually out or unaware that he's even home.

f'uck it, i'm done completely at the golf course. i thought maybe i'd be nice and help him out for a weekend or two, since i'm quitting there anyways, but whatever. if he's gonna act like that, then f'uck him.

Chilling as much as possible. Tomorrow I go to the dentist at 9:00 AM to get my right front tooth repaired. On Tuesday of last week I slammed it on my bass drum harness in marching band (the thing you mount the bass on.) and took a nice big chunk out of it. They are gonna "bond" it or whatever, then I'll get a cap in my 20's.

Oh, and we had our second competition of the season on Saturday (BCI, Bedford County Invitational. Since our school is in Bedford county, along with two other bands, the three local bands were just exhibitionists.) We still got judged though, and from what I overheard our band director saying on the bus ride home last night, we did MUCH better than any of us had thought. The percussion judge was a really hard-baller, very in-your-face. He was at least a foot away from me most of the time, that or the two snares. I which I had the chance to run into him, but I didn't. Oh well. Cheers.

(To when it was 'Calorie' talk)

A lot of people seem to worry, JUST about calorie's these days, but don't realise it's the amount of fat and carbohydrate intake that is also a major factor in diet.
Carbs can be your WORST enemy.
And it's really easy to have 600 or less calories in a day.
Infact, I did it a few weeks ago.

As people have said before, it's all about your Willpower.

So, today was band practice, and we got TOTALLY stuck when trying to figure out parts for this one song.

Super lucky my friend. It was a series of events that led to it.

1) For some reason we were marching block with just harnesses on.
2) My bass harness is partially broken and very loose, not form fitting at all
3) Somehow my arm hit the harness, causing it to swing up into my mouth.
4)The right front tooth sticks out just the slightest bit more than the other (other than that, I have perfect teeth), so the steel bar hit that tooth and not both.

I opened my hand and I had white enamel powder all over it. I proceeded to spit out bits of my tooth. o_o'

When I was a little skate pro, I tried to pop a frontside indy 180 from a quarter the rollin at the local park. It was concrete. Being Australia, I hit a gumnut and fell all the way to the bottom straight onto my teeth. Chipped the concrete. Got my front two beavers bonded. Very very lucky I didn't kill the nerves. If I did, my teeth would have gone black and I would need falsies.

you have to get like four shots, to numb your mouth, you end up having your whole face numb. The hsots feel kind of weird but theres not too much pain. You dont feel most of it but you get this hollow feeling in you and you cant eat anyhting for four hours or something so stock up. Make sure you sont eat anything that will make you burp.

My story isnt that interesting, i was just racing my friend jason to the door(4th grade) and then i tripped on this brick planter box and went down face first, i spit out all this crap too very much like you did, and i kept finding more teeth in my mouth so i had to keep spitting.

Drum Phil
10-02-2005, 05:30 PM
I know what the shots feel like :(

This tooth i shattered on the ice about 8 years ago. I had it repaired and then had the fake part punched off, then it was repaired again and the same happened. So now they're trying a veneer. Oh yeah and first time i had it repaired, the needle snapped in my mouth.

i'm sure they all have minimal different effects, but what i've noticed is that alcohol in general will magnify whatever emotions you felt before you drank. for example, if you're mad at someone, you're going to want to fight them once you're drunk. if you're sad, you'll be an emotional wreck once you're drunk. you get the idea. (of course this doesn't happen all the time, but from what i've seen, this is generally the case)

i know that things like absinthe will make you hallucinate. man i want some absinthe.

either way, the alcohol supresses your reactions to all stimulants. the very essence of the drug is a drepressant. thats why you stumble, get dizzy, and such

as far as its effects, like this quote, your initial state of mind, but also your surroudings play a role too

as for absinthe....man...your crazy

Yea well theres a difference between real absinth and the BS they pass off as absinth these days.... they put green food coloring in vodka and lame things like that. The REAL stuff is green from the plant, and is really really REALLY hard to get your hands on these days. Also, your supossed to do it correctly with the sugar plate and all that for the whole 9 yards.

Tie between:

New Beats (what a surprise)

and a Zilj K Thin Dark Crash 17". This is what I played on in jazz band in high school, one of the best sounding cymbals I HAVE EVER HEARD. My only regret is that is does not fit into my playing style and tonal specifications.

I got a new batter today (coated amp), and well put it on, tuned it up all nice. But when I put the snares in place it sounds all wet and fat, the total oppisite of what i was going for. As im trying to get a high pitched crack, with alot of ring.
