I don't have time to physically check tonight but the sucky thig is, my LAN is down so I can't check for drivers.

It seemed to be working though as I run my moniter through the graphics card fine and the LED fan for it is on.

Ive got a Geforce 5750. You wont regret that AMD 64 chip. Even in a 32 bit environment you still notice a difference with it. I need to upgrade me ram and get the nice HDD i saw and then add a second GFX card and im ready to roll.

Drum Phil
09-20-2005, 05:46 PM
In england you dont have to have lessons. You get a temporary license while you learn to drive and a proper one when you pass a test. You dont have to pay for an instructor but its better to.

RushHourSoul
09-20-2005, 05:51 PM
Yeah, not being able to drive sucks. Especially when all your friends have passed. I've got my provisional licence but still havn't had a lesson or anything, although I had a go in one of my mates cars, man its so much harder than it looks.

Win A Rabbit
09-20-2005, 05:51 PM
in canada you can get your learner's when you're 14, and your driver's when you're 16. you have to have your learner's for atleast a year, and the only restriction is you need to drive with a parent when you have your learner's. i still don't have my learner's, i have no interest in paying insurance yet, since i'd barely ever use my car anyways (after i buy a car of course)

well today in english class, i wrote another rant, but this one was on feminists. she gave us 45 minutes to write it, and i got a good 3/4 of a page in there. i'll post it when i get it back. i liked this one alot more than the other one i did.

chances are 99% of the names you'll think of have been used before. think of how many bands are in your town alone. now multiply that by every other town in north america. yea, that's alot of bands. the way i think of it is just pick something that means something to you, and isn't the name of a famous band, and hope you get recognized before a band with the same name as you does. hell, it'll give you some good inspiration too.

So, I don't deserve this deserves a thread but it does deserve attention. Do you think that if I suggest a Pink Floyd song in jazz band the teacher will go for it? One like shine on you crazy Diamond with a sax solo, or like any jazzy ones. I really love them but I can't cover them with my band due to their 3 second attention spans and we have no key boardist. If he tries to be smart and says I would be we need a guitarist I'll be like HEY! I play guitar! and he'll be like I'm sorry it ain't happening. Thats what I forsee but I'm not really sure how he thinks

well to anyone interested, i got someone to go to grad with me. she's a friend of mine from out of town, i didn't realize she wanted to come, but my other friend told me that she invited her, so i asked if she'd go with me.

i just went upstairs and went on the bike for half an hour while watching donnie darko. man was i sweating. after half an hour, i laid on the couch and watched the rest of it, occasionally dosing off for 5-10 minutes. that movie gets better for me each time i see it. and i (temporarily) lost my case for my "planes, trains, and automobiles" dvd. i remember seeing it less than a week ago, but i've looked everywhere i can think of and i can't find it. it'll pop out one of these days.

Ok..
Today was supposed to be our show at El Torreon. I've even been pimping it out here and there's like absolutely no way any of you would be there, so imagine all the LOCAL and online/local advertising we've done.

Go get singer and guitarist at 3, all head to my house, 4 to 5:30 practice, 5:30 load up gear, 5:45 leave, we get to El Torreon around 6PM and see no cars.
A sign on the door reads (and I quote) "Show tonite canceled"

:( :( :(
I get home and an email from Terry Taylor was sent to me around 3:30 saying that the show was cancelled. Had I ONLY checked my email before practice we could have practiced longer and made a new song and not wasted our time.

Phone calls should be used for more urgent situations.

For example, an e-mail would be appropriate for if it was cancelled at least two days in advance, but for being only several hours before hand....some people only check their e-mail at night, etc......so it was bad on the manager's part.

Other stuff i enjoy is: wasting time lurking on MX, B&W photography, food. I have a Tama Rockstar in Standard sizes. Glad to see a familiar site, don't see too many oregonians in here, if ever.

I doubt they'll reschedule it. Shattered Realm is coming back in November headlining (we're not on that one haha), we're playing there Oct 6th, Cast Pattern is playing there Oct 8th. Only bands not coming back as of now are Suffocate Faster and the other local, who just don't have anything there right now.

I'm asking about a few shows.
Oct 2nd in Lawrence (30 minute drive): Every Time I Die, The Red Chord, High on Fire

I know. I put Virgin Radio on the other day whilst at work, and it was just the start of Pinball Wizard, to which I though great stuff ... and then I heard the voice and wtf!? After finding out that it was McFly I cant stand them even more, come on, surely songs as good as that should NEVER be covered. It's like Scissor Sisters doing Comfortably Numb, that song is too good to be covered.

well this whole new band thing i'm wanting to start is already coming along nicely. i have 2 full songs written already (without vocals) and they're sounding pretty good instrumental-wise. the toughest part is going to be getting a drummer (as i'd like to play guitar in this band) maybe my friend who just started a few weeks ago will do the job for now. my project for tomorrow is to think of a good name. i want it to be something that kind of seems like random words thrown together, but i want it to mean something too.

That looks VERY similar to what I have.

http://www.tascam.com/Images/Banners/All%20Banners/personal_creativity/424.jpg
*Note: That's not the same model I have, mine isn't on their site. Only difference is 2 less inputs and different switch positions. Mine's an 424MKII*
You can do a lot with it, just takes some knowledge of it, playing around, etc.
http://www.myspace.com/lufthansaheist
See the MAJOR difference mic placement and EQ adjustment can make? All 4 songs recorded using the same mics on the same instruments at the same levels, but on "Coffin" and "Alone Again" they were poorly placed, while on "Hold it Down" and "the pretty song" they were placed a lot better and thus sound MUCH better to the ear.

:D

well i just had a nice 4 hour nap after school, it was just what i needed. i was exhausted all day, i couldn't pay attention to anything. here's my rant, a response to a feminist piece we read in class. It was supposed to be written about why i don't want a wife, but i didn't really write about wives, just responded to feminists:

Why I Don't Want a Wife

I belong to that classification of teens. I am a teen. In a world where women demand respect and power, while at the same time, they b'itch about any moment in their day where they are forced to lift a finger, the feminist approach to equality and recognition dies quickly. Wives will find as many possible ways to word their responsibilities to distract you from the fact that there are only 3 things that the women, particularly the woman in the essay I am responding to, do: look after the house, the children, and me. That's it. Through six paragraphs of post-menstrual bitching, there are only 3 things, none of which were forced onto her, that us men so tragically slave our wives into doing. Oh, the harshness. Because we know that all women would just love to live in a house dirty beyond repair. And the kids, yes. Who doesn't want their child growing up without parental guidance, so they can go find companionship with the crack dealer in the back alley. Trophy children, just can't get enough of them. And then comes the husband. Of course, completely useless. Unable to do a single thing around the house. Comes home, eats, sleeps.

F'uck these feminist bitches. If they don't want to do anything around the house, they can go live on the street. Equality? How about doing simple things at home before you run for president. I am in no way sexist. Sure, there are great women out there willing to help when help is needed. I am purely against f'ucking idiots who think they've got it bad by taking their own children to the park, and placing the chicken in the oven for "20-25 minutes." Get a clue, and stop f'ucking complaining about putting some effort in to keep your bulls'hit relationship going full steam.

F'uck off.

And that is why I don't want a wife.

I am going to ****in' KILL my cats...

So as I was braggin about my badass recorder back there, I decided to go try and find the manual online for it (Bought it at a pawn shop for $150, retail is $500 for it), and I FOUND IT!
I was reading and found out all the cool stuff the buttons do that I didn't know about (I always went 'what's that button do? oh well, record'), so I went to fool with it and it WON'T PLAY.

The GOD****MOTHER****ERING****BAGDOUCHEASSCOCKSUCKERBI TCH cats pissed on it!
P.I.S.S.E.D.

GYAHHEAHAHHH!!!!
They pissed on our last one too, which was a much suckier version and is why we found/bought this one, and was also more expensive as we bought that one new.

HAHHHAHGHEAIHGEAHHFEAOIFHOEIHGOAIEHFOAIEFOIROIYe3p oriypoiqpow87yfp987!

I'm tellin my mom tomorrow that the cats have got to go and if I see them in the basement again I'll kick them.
Serious.

AHHHHHHHh

Now we have to buy a new recorder...:(
Which postpones:
> Me setting money aside for a new computer
> Drum module/electric set
> Setting money aside for a PA

On top of that I have to pay the $120 bank overdraft fee or it gets cancelled, AND I have to pay $104 on my insurance.

I hate cats.

Why don't you get a runner for your cats? You can get like a sort of out-door cat cage for them, and they can still have freedom as they deserve but they don't piss on your stuff that way. Cats are great pets and companions, and I think you would regret getting rid of them.

After my fit of being pissed of I probably would miss them.

The thing is, when they're outside they've got tons of freedom. My backyard is an acre, we have 12 neighbors right alongside us lol
It's only 2 of them that piss in the house, the other two mainly live outside and go to the bathroom outside.

I miss my dog. I had a German Shepard that we had to put down last year. :(
He was getting old, had arthritis (or something extremely similar, it hurt him to walk), a bad skin disease, and was in pain all the time. Losing his fur, etc. It was the best thing for him, he was living in such bad pain.
My mom got a Jack Russell last year and while I love him and he's an awesome dog I still want a dog of my own ya know?

Maybe whenever I move out.

Anyways, it's raining here and just started to hail awhile ago. I took some pictures, I keep trying to get one of those cool ones of a lightning bolt in the frame lol

For humor, from my memoirs - "When I was 16 my first job was in a frozen yogurt shop. I wore a uniform, swept the floors, cleaned the machines, sold the products and delt with the public. 2 jobs later, I make 3 times as much and do 1/20th the work. And it's your tax dollars that pay me."
