Hello,
My name is Kyle, I'm from Canada. I've been playing since Christmas 04'. I love this forum, I lurk around alot and look for advice. My main influence is Jeremy Taggart from Our Lady Peace. He was brought up playing jazz, so he knows his way around the kit. My other real influence was actually my Girlfriend. She's been playing around a drumkit for a while and I decided I would like to try it, I sat down behind a kit one day, and I knew this is what I wanted to do. My musical prefrences: Our Lady Peace, Green Day, System of a Down, Guns 'n Roses, Treble Charger, Red Hot Chili Peppers and I also enjoy orchestra.

I'm Barry, Irish, from Dublin to be exact, been playing 3 years! I'm 15, Love drumming, its my life pretty much, like socialising too(i.e. drinking, smoking and bumming around!) and emm . . My name is Cameron. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the United States of America. My normal username is "Super Cameron", but I got banned for stupid reasons. A few months ago, I cut the tendon and nerve in my left thumb, losing the use of my left hand until recently. During the time waiting, I continued to play gigs and such one handed. Now I'm back to getting in shape with both hands.

I'm 17, and I just graduated High School. I've been playing for about 5 years, and I dabble in other instruments, as well as composing pieces for various groups. I listen to all sorts of music, from jazz to hip hip to metal to pop to punk, etc. As long as I enjoy it. I play with many different groups, and sub in others from time to time. I'm attending Northern Michigan University starting this Fall, and I hope to move onto (possibly) Berklee or Musician's Institute, after getting some general education out of the way. I also enjoy playing basketball, reading, hanging out with my friends, eating good food, working out, using the internet, playing computer and video games, watching movies, and other stuff normal for someone my age. I signed up for this site when I was in about 8th or 9th grade, so I've seen it develop over the years, along with myself. Well, if I think of anything else, I'll edit or something.

hi im tom im 16 years old and am currently enjoying touring. my band itworehimdown is my main priority, me being in 4 bands makes it hard especially as they are all differant genre's im in in a posthardcore band an alternative metal/rock band an acid jazz band and a covers band. all i do is go to band practises at least 5 times a week so im pretty lazy the rest of the time playing computer games and and checking out here or on PDF. if im not doing anything else i would go dirt jumping on my 24/7 and have fun with my m8s. at the moment im giging twice a week so its kinda hard to catch up with friends so you can be my friends!!

i play a pearl masters and sabian aax cymbals and i live in a town called monmouth which once was renowned as an independant country and the treaty of versailes (war guilt clause made german pay reparations of 6billion)was signed under the uk and monmouth but when the war officially ended the monmouth representative was not available so officially monmouth a town of no more than 30,000 people is still at war with germany.

Yeah, I thought that movie was pretty good too. It sure has brought us drummers a lot of good press aswell. It seems like drumlines are now the "in" thing. Destiny's Child used a drumline intro in "Lose my Breath" and I've even seen a drumline in a Verizon ad.

Yeah I saw it. I thought it was fantastic. I would rate it as the second-best batman film, behind the original with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. It does a really good job of showing how he came to be, and it even has ninjas.

It depends on what city you live in. Each city decides whether or not they should be legal because in most cases it's a big hassle for the police and fire departments and the hospitals.

I've been playing for about 1 year 7-8 months, and am so far self-taught, although my dad has been helping out as he's been playing for around 15 years. I'm not talking about their technical skills nor do they write anything amazingly different, but I think these guys bring ALOT of energy to their music and perform at a really high energy level which I love. I like to listen to anything from Metal, Prog Rock\Metal, to Jazz\chillout stuff to 80's Rock, just about anything. Hmmmm what else...I play a Yamaha Rydeen kit at the moment, but looking to upgrade soon as well as my cymbals...I might post some pics later on in the Gear section...anyways thats all I guess, see ya's all around :wave:

haha that reminds me, when i used to wander in the streets a lot, i almost got hit 27(yes i kept count) times by asian drivers. I think this was over a three week period. but come on thats a lot. im chris. im 18 years old and i've been playing drums for the last 12 years. at various points i've had lessons for a total time of around 4 years, which is pretty weak in my opinion. i teach drums part time at my local school of music, and i also have a few private students. if you heard my band and saw us play you would probably label me in the typical teenage drummer catagory, which may be true but also false. i was originally a classical player, i played in the county orchestra for about 5 years and i've toured spain, america, france and the czech republic with orchestras. i listen to alot of music, mostly stuff like in/humanity and usurp synapse at the moment, but i like some jazz, freeform jazz and a little political rap. i am obsessed with the coheed and cambria story though. i am in a band with the 4 greatest guys ever, we probably really suck in everyone elses opinion, but we have so much fun on stage and we all listen to the same stuff. i play a premier genista 4 piece, 10X8, 14X14, 20X20 kick and a 14X5 snare. i don't think they were standard sizes for the genista. i love turkish cymbals. sorry about the frickin' long essay.

so i went to bed last night, and couldnt get to sleep until 5 a.m.

so my dad comes in at 6 to wake me up, and i was completely shocked. i had no clue what was going on because i was so tired, so i slept in for work. oh well, i would have only worked 5 hours today anyways.

so right now im working on a new song for my band (all instruments) and i must say its coming along nicely. the verse section is in 5/4, and the chorus switches between 7/8 and 6/8, and now im working on a 5/8 part for the second verse.

haha that happened to me one time. it was sunday morning and i looked over and i saw it was 8:10 (im usually out of bed by 8 on school days) so i rushed upstairs to the shower, came down, made a lunch as quick as i could, and walked halfway down my street, then my first real thought of the day hit me. "its sunday. you slept in yesterday. why are you in the middle of the street with a lunch?" :upset:

and to make it worse, my mom saw me getting ready for school and didnt say anything. then she laughed at me when i got back.

Just got back from NIN, man it was so hot. I have never been so sweaty. My scrotum was like a sauna, The fact I had tight fitting jeans on didn't help.

so i was at work (i work at a golf course, mainly repairing greens right now, bad winter here) and this guy snapped out because he went into the sand, and had a 10 yard chip to the hole, and he skulls it 100 yards into the trees, then blames me for working while he's trying to concentrate. so i told him "sir (because im polite and such), im standing to the side waiting patiently for you to hit so i can continue working" and he starts mumbling to himself, so i ask him, "are you gonna try that chipshot again sir, i'll wait for you to do it" so he starts yelling at me, and i was so close to goin at it with this 40+ year old man right there on the golf course. he storms away (in the wrong direction), and i yell out "sir, you're going the wrong way". so he looks back, sees that he's going the wrong way, and then quits and leaves. probably one of the funniest things ive seen at work in a long time.
