hmm, i just got back. we took back her bottles, and i guessed closer to the amount of money she'd get back (of course, when am i ever wrong???) then we went to a&w but i wasn't hungry so i ate some packs of peanut butter, then we went back to her house and helped her family unpack their stuff, then we went and got my other friends. i played ukulele for a while (i think i'm going to buy one, or possibly ask to borrow hers, as she wants me to learn it anyways) then we went to a local park that we all go to regularly, and then we went walking around, got high, and played haki-sack for a while. then we went uptown and my friend bought shrooms, which we're doing next weekend. yee haw. that's my night.

Hi I'm Jon, I'm 16 and live in London, been drumming for about 3 years (i actually don't remember kinda woke up with a drum kit in my room after a drunk night out,yes when 13 it is possible to get alcahol.) Not had much to say about gigs, nothing special has come my way yet. In about 7 bands, all of which recently kicked off. Most of the stuff i'll b doing is studio atm so its kind of why i can manage to b in 7, when it comes to gigs im gonna hav to tell some to find another drummer i guess :lol:
Had about 7 gigs in my life. and played a drum duet with a m8 for our version of moby dick on 2 occasions (its starting to become routine really)
Mainly influenced by Metal drummers such as, Ulrich, Portnoy, Abe Cunningham, Carey, Raymond Herrera (or however the **** u spell it) Jordison, Grohl, Cavalera and loads of others.
That does not limit my taste in music to metal! I listen to Jazz like St.Germain and classic rock such as the Doors Hendrix nd Zepplin.

Recently switched from Mapex to Sonor drums, now playing a Sonor Force 2005 Birch kit with 10", 12", 13" and 16" toms with a 24" bass drum (customed) Havn't yet got a cymbal set of my own worthy of all ur others, a few staggs 16" sh crash nd a 10" sh splash, A 17" Zildjian Avedis Light crash and some 14" inch vintage zildj hats. Having sold my ride i am now pretty much in the market for rides.

I have a kinda mentor who lets me borrow his cymbals (i dont use all of them) which are worth mentioning. 15" Paiste soundedge high hats, 18" Zildjian China 20" Zildjian K projection ride, 17" Paiste signature power crash and a 16" paiste thin crash which im not entirely sure about the details.

Hardware i play include Janus double-bass transmission highhat pedals and about 4-5 boom stands :)

well anyways, i couldn't sleep again last night. i tried to fall asleep at 12:00, and didn't get to sleep until 4:00. then when i did fall asleep, it was for an hour, then i was awake for a half hour, then i fell asleep for an hour, awake for half an hour... then i was awake from 9 this morning until 11, then i got an hour in.

all in all it was a terrible sleep. i'm thinking about going on sleeping pills, because i get no sleep on schoolnights and worknights. any day i have to get up early, really.

has anyone here ever been on sleeping pills? how much do they cost? do they do a whole lot? any side effects?

I was thinking, would we have use for a sort of MXDP reference guide in which we recommend druming books, dvds, etc.? And all the suggestions could be edited into the first post so we'd have a good list....I don't know if we need one or if its a totally useless idea, but it was just a random thought I had today so I thought I would share it and see if its any good...

Hey guys, It's been about 3 months since I ordered my Maryland kit and they said I should be able to pick it up by the end of August to early September. Granted that is very close, but I have not heard from them since deciding on the finish/hardware/plies/sizes/heads/etc. I was wondering if you thought it would be rude or annoying if I gave Maryland a call tomorrow afternoon and ask for a quick update on the kit. Do you think it would be better to ask my retailer even though they are very slow at doing so things sometimes? I don't want to annoy them at all, I admire the time any energy they put into the kit and would wait another 3 months if I had to; I just want to know how far along my kit is. Thanks guys.

i don't think it would be a problem if you called them. just don't make a big habit of it and call very often. but if you havent herd from them for a while then i don't see a problem with it.

i've had my drums for about 2 years, but i've only been playing seriously for a total of about 9 months approx.

some of my influences are: danny carey, carter beauford, john bonham, stewart copeland, ben koller, dan trapp, and josh freese.

i try to listen to as much music as i can, and i'm always arranging songs myself. at the moment i have 16 full songs on my computer, plus about 50 sheets of paper in my basement full of ideas.

i play drums, guitar, bass, a little bit of piano, and accordion (i'm waiting for my grampa to find time to teach me). 2 instruments i want now are a ukulele, and bagpipes.

I wouldn't call more than once, or in anyway, shape, or form rush them; I'm just getting a little excited. I just don't want to sound like I'm angry or upset because I'm not at all. oh man, yesterday i was chewing on those little rings they put on pop bottles, to "secure" the lid to the bottle, you know? well i had it vertical between my front teeth, then it slipped from my bottom teeth and hit that little "bump" on my bottom lip (infront of the teeth) and it's been bothering me since then. i think it's swollen, as it hurts when i touch my skin there, but i can't it because of my facial hair. any ways i can stop it from hurting real bad? i'm actually desperate, as it's driving me crazy.

Yea, get some stuff ya use for a toothache and put it on it. That stuff contains benzocaine which will numb it. You can also take 600mg's of Ibuprofin if it is bothering you so much ya can't sleep.

I hate little irritating injuries like that, kinda like when ya yank out a nail cuticle.

though jim is the facial hair master, i think i could give him a run for his money... :lol: i should have took pics of mine when it was huge. i've had facial hair for almost 3 years now, back when i was 14 i kept my chin covered for a while and i've loved it since.

i think i'm allergic to something in shaving cream, because when i shave, my hair completely dries out, and my face gets really "moist" i guess is the word to describe it. almost like sweating without actually sweating. i don't know if that's regular, but that's one of the reasons i don't shave every day.

haha jim, i'm 17 and i get stubble within about 12 hours. when i get a camera, i'll make sure to grow it out to the length it was before and i'll take a picture, then i'll take another with just my goat. the full beard makes me look a few years older, it's amazing.

josiah, that was one pretty major car wreck. i was walking downtown one day and i was talking about how there's generally a car crash everyday on this one street in the city, and halfway through me talking about it, this car slams on it's brakes, and a big 4 car pile-up happens about 6 feet from where we were walking. it was amazing.

grade 9 was the worst for me. i was failing all my classes in the first semester, and i barely passed most of them. it was a big step up from grade 8, and i was going through a tough time at home, etc. it all just turned bad for a while, which left me scrambling for marks in the last month.

Oh school was good times for me, it was pretty **** fun actually. same here, i loved school untill this year (senior year) i got into some trouble with the law and had to get emmancipated so my mom wouldnt go to jail :-/ but i filled out a bunch of forms with the guidance counselor, and i was able to stay in school :cool:
