Long hair, we've already discussed this but I had long hair and short hair on and off through high school, and have finally settled with short again, agreeing with josiah that it's easier to clean and manage and generally is more accepted by the female gender.
Ok, time for some good times, because last night was the GREATEST night on headset ever.
So overnights, we have 3 people. 1 on headset taking orders, 2 in grill. I was headset tonight.
!DRUNKEN NUDITY!
So anyways, orders orders blah blah blah, until at 1AM, when an order comes and when they get to the window the chick flashes me. Which is ALWAYS cool, but then she looks up and looks at her friends and goes "Oh ****, I went to high school with that guy!" haha and she did, I know her very well. So that was a major highlight.
!DRUNKEN *******!
So this guy orders a #11 w/ coke (nugget meal) and at the window it's obvious he's drunk, with another beer in his right hand AND one in his lap. So he wants to add on a double cheese, so I do and he pays for it all.
Then he complains that he didn't get his McChicken (didn't order one) then laughs, and says he's missing his fries (which he had 3). He pulled them OUT OF THE BAG, and goes "there's fries and some others, but where the **** are my fries?!" (all this time my managers standing there laughing too).
Then he says he didn't get his nuggets (which I remember packing because it's all he ordered and I had to make them fresh out of the vat), so we just threw some more in a box, gave them to him and shut the window. If he'd argued one more time we were gonna call the cops.
!LOST MEXICANS!
So I'm making coffee for breakfast, and I look up and there's a Mexican in the window staring at me. CREEPY. I go over there and he holds up a map, and after a few seconds I gather they're lost, going to Liberty (from Smithville), so I point STRAIGHT DOWN THE HIGHWAY (physically and on the map) and say just follow that, and they ask for directions.
Basically, a very fun night.
Throw in watching 30 minutes of Spiderman 2 and Episode 2 of Robot Chicken on my PSP and you've got a killer night.

iPods have a terrible battery. It only holds charge for summat like 300 charges, whereas the creative zen holds for 2000. The iPod can only play MP3, the zen plays both MP3 and WMA (which is good seein as i rip all my CD's to WMA) The zen has a much friendlier control system, the zen has pretty lights and is cheaper. Plus the zen can be used to hold data as well.

i usually try not to rant, but what the hell.
well i think i'm going to apply for a job at extra foods at the end of summer, since i keep getting f'ucked out of hours at the golf course. i'm going to tell my dad tonight that i'm not coming back next year, and probably not finish this year off, due to the hopelessness of everyone who works there. i'm gonna need a mighty big raise and guaranteed hours if he wants to keep me another year. this summer i was scheduled to work 4 days on, 4 days off (over 2 months, thats 30+ days of work) and so far i've only been able to work 7 days total. so i'll tell him he's on his own if he wants any chance of good greens next year, since everyone on the maintenance crew has no idea of how to grow grass. 3 of them even went to university for it, and i know more than they do.
/rant.

The new iPods have a much better battery than the old ones, so your first statement is no longer true.
The ipods can play mp3, wav, aac, and a couple others.
WMA is not as high quality of a codec as mp3 or aac, so if you want the best sound quality there's no problem with not having wma support, not to mention its easy to convert them to mp3s if need be.
Not to mention ipods have been praised by countless renowned technology magazines/websites/etc. as having a highly efficient and intuitive control system along with being very aesthetically pleasing.
Ipods can hold data also, pretty much all hard drive based MP3 players can.

WMA all depends on how you choose to encode it. You cant tell me that a WMA file with a bitrate of 192 isnt better than a 128 MP3 file.
And if they're similar in technological respects, then i stand by my opinion that the Zen looks better.
Most people i know (a fair few of them hand build computers for a living, including the server our local 6000 member forum runs off) hate iPods because they're unreliable. Anyway its all down to preference so just leave it.

.
It is possible to change the WMA rip settings so that it rips into a WMA lossless format which rips at the highest possible bit rate.
My zen xtra has a lot of other great features such as the bookmarking tool where you can bookmark a certain part in the song and start from there which is really helpful with drumming to songs when your trying to get down a certain part. You can also speed up and slow down songs which i find useful when the drummer does a extremely long fill that you want to try to figure out.

Well I know bobaflex is the first band to play, I missed there set completly I heard they sucked anyway so no big deal. The next is dry kill logic generic metal HORRIBLE live show poor musicicanship ect..., then symph X goes on one stage and then dillenger escape plan plays on another stage at the same time, I watched X obviosuly since I despise DEP. Then nevermore plays one stage and fear factory plays another. At my show fear factory was on the main stage so I wanted to get my seat for DT. I had to sit through their garbage until it was over for DT  then after DT megadeth comes on which I skipped and left early.
Massik Kretal
08-20-2005, 11:24 PM
Is there 2 stages for every concert or was that the way your area was setup? If its everyone then would you suggest Nevermore or Fear Factory?
Double Bass Jim
08-20-2005, 11:26 PM
Nevermore, at least they have a decent guitar player.
Depends on the venue I guess.
TheClash6412
08-20-2005, 11:26 PM
fear factory if dt is coming on after, you could focus on pushing your way to the front instead of listening to them....i went to a concert once 4 days after i had knee surgery and i was on crutches and they let me go to the front, it was tight

Dry Kill Logic is a great band, shame on you. DEP too.
But Dry Kill is actually very versitile, one of the greater bands from the "nu metal" era (their old CD kinda was, new CD not so much), and put on a great show last I saw them.

there really isnt any difference between the regular and reflectors. i did the same thing with a 20" dimensions deep full ride. i think there might be a tad more ping on the reflector, but not enough to be noticable when your playing.

well i mowed grass for 8 hours today. my boss came in drunk as hell (he's actually a recovering alcoholic, but he drinks every day anyways) and he followed me around for about 45 minutes, watching me mow. then i went over to him and asked him what he was doing, he mumbled through some words, then said "so i heard you were leaving us..." in an angry voice. i told him my reasons, and he started getting angrier. i swear he was almost going to try to fight me  so i told him to go home, and that he was no use here, blah blah blah, he got angrier and stormed off.
what a way to leave a job, hey?
well it wasn't all bad, i had a big talk with one of the marshalls there, who i've been "friends" with for about a year, but we never really talked for more than 5 minutes before. we talked for about an hour on my lunch break about everything possible, it was probably the best conversation i've ever had.
so yea, i'm 99% done with that job, they're on their own from here on in. it's gonna be brutal next year, i guarantee they ask me back. and that's not even my ego talking, that's common sense.

i feel extremely sick. i'm sure it's more than just a cold or whatnot. it started out with just a stuffed head, and last night i was having cold sweats for about 2 hours. this morning i was feeling a bit better, but once i got back from work, it started to come back again. i went to watch my "under the table and drumming" video at 8:00, and fell asleep at 8:30. i woke up at 9:00 in a pool of sweat, room was all stuffed up, my forehead was amazingly hot. so i got some icebags (covered in a towel) and put them on my forehead and chest, to try to stop the sweating. it kept going, ice or no ice. for another hour i felt the sickest ive ever felt (and i've been mighty sick in the past) but couldn't sit upright without feeling even sicker. so now here i am, icebag on my head.
someone cheer me up. :)

poppinfresh
08-22-2005, 01:13 AM
i dont know how it sounds yet, but the way i imagine it being 13 by 6 and brass it should have a pretty nice punch with a little more sensitivity than a 14. and im usually against buying things without hearing it first, but its a good deal and its in perfect condition and i really need it before i play at this festival on the 17 and 18 my sonor snare wont cut it and i dont have that much time or money.
It might be better with gold lugs but the chrome kind of gives it a different look, i dunno i like it.

does anyone else here drink? if so, what's your drink of choice? if hard liquor, what's your preference of taking it?
mine is captain mo's spiced rum (35%). 13 oz. usually does me good if i eat minimally that day. i find it's best for me to take 2 5 oz. shots within about 5 minutes, wait 10 minutes and finish it off. occasionally i'll finish it in 2 shots, one of these days i'll go for a 13 oz. shot

Jack Daniels or Jamesons irish whisky, straight from the bottle (or if im feeling classy, a hip flask) Unfortunately i tend to go through a bottle..... I bet my liver hates me.
Cant beat a bit of vodka or brandy now and then like. Or absinthe (80% EEK) :)

You are not missing out on anything. I have drank a few times, feeling dimwitted and uncoordinated does just not feel right to a dedicated drummer. The long term mental effects are cumulative, and I am not willing to trade a permanent piece of my mind for a few hours of intoxication.
I have never smoked a cigarette though, and never will.

Hello. New user to these forums. My name is Nick, I'm 15 years old and I live in Tennessee. I've been playing drum for roughly 7 months. I love music. Metal and hardcore (subgenres included) are my two favorite types of music. I listen to other stuff also. I like dating and going out with girls for fun, but I like relationships also. I'm about to make a major upgrade from my kit and cymbals. I have a B average in school and plan on going to Berkely College.

Real men only drink the blood of a freshly killed deer under a full moon. No wait, I haven't been thinking right ever since that wolf bit me last night.

Arabian Techno!....
A band that play that kind of music added me to their 'Friends List' on Myspace....Which was surprsing because I have no friends on the site (well, except three or four people)....
And I just opened up the back door to the house (I live in) and I thought it was snowing, but on closer inspection it turned out to be a huge cloud of bloody midgies....

If d means a half note then what does d = 120 bpm?
It says it in my book and I dunno if it's 60bpm in quarters or 240bpm.

120 halfs a min. would be 240 quarters a min.

Oh **** thats fast. I have to play eighth notes to 240bpm so that becomes 480bpm in quarters!!

well my arabian techno song took a bit of a turn. i had it as all arabian, then just drums for 4 bars, then the next part was part arabian, part evil sounding, then i was messing around with the evil sounding thing and got an evil mario thing going on. it sounds amazing. who'd have thought arabian music and mario music would have been so good together?

I just got back from seeing Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge. Damn was that awesome. Carter had a mini drum solo in Dream Girl, and started out Lover Lay down with a solo, and when they played Crush at the end he did his typical triplet pattern between the toms and the snare. On top of that, the Gorge Amphitheater was spectacularly beautiful, topped only by Red Rocks in my opinion (maybe some others that I haven't been to aswell). Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera, but I'm sure you can find pictures of the concert in the next few weeks if you look. If I find any I'll post 'em.
Setlist from DMBand.com (http://www.dmband.com)
Pantala Naga Pampa
Rapunzel
Dream Girl
Hello Again
Lover Lay Down
Bartender
Louisiana Bayou
Grey Street
Out Of My Hands
Say Goodbye
Drive In Drive Out
Hunger For The Great Light
Dancing Nancies
Warehouse
Blackbird
Dreaming Tree [tease]
All Along The Watchtower

well i just modified my set once again. i brought my little timable snare up behind my 13" tom, it's alot more convenient having it there instead of on the left of my hats. this makes it alot easier to use my marching snare drum too. here's the link, to my magical kit.

it's so comfortable to play, and everything's all nice and close. my rack tom is tilted the slightest bit, and my floor toms are perfectly flat.
