Oh my God!
Vinnie was on Jay Leno just now playing with Faith Hill!
I was like, "Was that Vinne?!" I only saw the last two seconds of the song, and then Leno came on and thanked everyone, but Vinnie had his head like perfectly behind a cymbal, so I wasn't sure, then he peaked up, I was so happy.
I also saw a quick glimpse of his traditional hand, and I was like, who else could that be?!
I know I'm a nerd.

Woah boy, I've pulled Stick Control out of my closet, its been sitting in there for 6 years (since I stopped taking lessons) and I've begun running through it now that I've bought some Viccy MS2s. Its pretty fun, but the flam exercises are **** hard.
And on a side note, for those who even care, I left a message, but no response, so if nothing comes by tomorrow night.....eh, it was worth a shot.

My message was pretty cool sounding and articulated well (I wrote it out so I wouldn't go ummm too much, though I threw some in to add to the authenticity ;) ). Though I think my voice was higher pitched then normal in the beginning, but it wasn't bad or anything.
I'll try again after I get back though, definatelly.
EDIT: I didn't read what I wrote out word for word, so stop thinking I'm a dork. I used it as a guide to what to say (like notecards for a school speech, references to where you are in your speech).

My college schedule next year sucks ***........
Take a look at this.....
EDIT: Nm that looks like crap. Anyway, on mon, wed, fri, I have a 10-11 class, then on those days i don't have anything until 2 and that class lasts until 4. On mon tues wed I ahve a night class from 6 to 9. Also on mon i have a class from 4 to 5.
So basically, i have a 3 hour wait on mon wed fri between classes, i don't have any classes thur, and only a night class tue. That means i don't have many nights off :(
Luckily they're all fun classes though.

Ever had Evan Williams? I'm new to drinking really, but it tastes better than Jack and costs about half as much. Good stuff, but I don't drink whiskey really. I like scotch... Johnny Walker Black. But that's the only thing really.

Hi. New here. I've only read a few messages so far. Are you ALL kids? Jeez, I was hoping this woulda' been a site with some folks with some knowledge, 'cause I desperately need that.
Callin' you old fogies out there. ;-)
Seriously, any help with anyone would be appreciated, young or old. But I need advanced advice.
I'm 33. I just worked my A$$ off for God knows how long, working one sh!+ job after another. Sometimes holding down two and even three jobs at a time!
But it paid off, because now I got over $12,000 and I'm quittin' my day job. I'm keeping the weekend one though (actually getting enough weekend work to almost make-up for the money I'll be losing), but my weeks are totaly free.
I'm building a recording studio. Oh yeah, as good as done. The most high-tech in all of Arizona. Gonna' get me a new computer and invest heavilly in pro-tools gear. But right now, I'm trying to figure out a few things. Trust me, you guys will hear from me in the future. I need a lot of advice.
For one, I'm trying to figure out how to buid my drum kit. I'm no real drummer, I have to put the high-hat on my right. ;-) But I get by.
I found this sweet Gretsch 5-piece with no cymbols or high-hat for $480. I think it's a safe bet I can get the dealer down to $350 at least, esepcially if I mention that I might be back with my twelve grand and that I just might purchase the Fender Jaguar bass hangin' on the wall...
But I'm wondering a lotta' things. Maybe I should go more into detail when I can post my own thread, but I'm just too anxious to figure some o' this S out.
One BIG thing I'm wondering is what's the deal with snare sizes? Bass drums too, I might imagine. Man, it'd be ideal for me if there was a set standard size. I really need to know what the best size is without investing in tons of crap along the way.
I need a better sound than the crap I always had available to me in the past. I always had a real plastic sound with the kits I played with. I need something full.
Maybe getting a few different size snares might be an idea too, I'm toying with. But I'd realy like to keep my spending for each instrument to a minimum, while keeping the highest standard possible.
Then there is the decision on the best sounding cymbols too. And skins, can't forget skins. I really want high quality everything, as I am trying to create studio perfection. If one thing's off, it's gonna' bug the crap outa' me.
Anyhoo, without going into any further detail about who I am, I'll just appologize for the length of this message and end it now. ;-)
Not to be offensive grandpa but u myfriend r clueless. that deal u got, no that not a deal with no hats or cymbAls. it seems to me like u have no real musical knowledge. that whole kit with additional drum HEADS are gonna cost u more than u know. also talking about ur life, whats the deal? u cant even find a PERMANENT ( that means: over an endless amount;, long lasting; durable) job at what? 33? dude, u r 33. u have no life. sorry, but u r desperate. i bet ur marrige life is way gone, if there was ever one. u seem like a gambler to me, concidering u have 3 jobs at a time. and ur strategy: saving up and spending till the $ is gone and then save up again... i mean, whats that all about? thats a technique a 7 year old would know is wrong. i mean, what kinda jobs do u do? a garbage man for three different trucks? u might be 33, but u think like u r ....3? anyway,if i were u i would open my eyes, get of my lazy asce, maybe go to some educational courses to actually live a normal life, and maybe get something out of urself u old lazy piece of crap! jeeze..

Hey... my name's Nick Hall and i come from Surrey in Southern England. I'm 15, will have been playing drums for 3 years this coming summer.
Apart from drums i'm really into music in general (mainly jazz/fusion/rock) like...
Tool
Slayer
A Perfect Circle
Miles Davis
Dave Weckl Band
Weather Report
Slayer
At The Gates
Rage Against the Machine,
computergames, girls, film, swimming etc.
Erm... i'm kind of into oriental culture and i study Japanese at school (hoping to take Chinese Mandarin or Russian at uni). I also study Theology/Philosophy, Ancient Greek and ur usual stuff.
I play with a covers band playing mainly Mudhoney/Melvins/Tool/Slayer etc. we gig quite regularly.
With another band but we've been pretty inactive recently, original stuff mainly jazz orientated rock (our singer/guitarist is also an excellent saxophonist).
What else... erm...

so i was real bored-like and i set up just my bass, snares, and hats up left handed. and i was grooving alot better like that. i'm naturally left handed, but i've always played on a right handed kit, and with cymbals and everything, left handed feels weird. but stripped down, i felt so comfortable. hmm, now that's a dilemma.
well right now i'm listening to some mozart (yum) and talking to my friend about camping. it's d'amn expensive. i thought it would be $20-ish for a night for all 8 of us. but it's turning out to be $75-90 for a night :amaze: .

OBSCURITY!
I just saw your avatar again and I just remembered:
3 Inches of Blood, that guy is no longer the drummer. I think he either quit or got kicked out.
Just days away from their U.S. tour with Chimaira et al, 3 Inches Of Blood have announced the departure of drummer Matt Wood. According to the band, "Matt informed us last month that he would be leaving the band once we got home at the end of June. The reasons given were both musical and personal, but there's no animosity between us. We respect Matt's decision, but are moving forward and still playing." For now, the group has enlisted the services of drummer Alexei Rodriguez (ex-Walls Of Jericho, Catharsis).

Yeah, those corps masters rule for practice sticks, I picked up a pair for pads (or in my case...pillow), I'm already noticing results when I go back to my usual sticks. Great for building up wrist and finger strength. Stick control is great, I've been working on doing those exercises with the hands and feet, to build chops, and for some awesome beats, rudiments used in beats and grooves can sound pretty awesome.

Ralph's are okay, but everybody uses them. THere's better out there.
Try Jim Cassella Corpsmaster sticks. I fricken love those things.
The best chop builders from my experience are the MS2 Corpsmasters. I just bought a new pair and have been working Stick Control for the past couple of days on my old Ludwig Vacuum pad!

I got some Pro Mark TXDC3SW marching sticks, but I dont use them much I got them to try out different sizes and feel. My question maybe silly and noobish but Im not to proud to ask. Why does the heavy sticks build chops better? Because of the weight? Or the size or the combination, I would love a short explantion please, thank you.

sorry to change the subject, but how to you pronounce vinnie caluatia (no idea how to spell it)
i say it "call - eeee - oo (as in tooth) - ta"
well i just got back from my friends, and we were watching harold and kumar. wow, i saw it before and thought it was funny, but the second time around was torture. i have to say, i hated it this time. and i was supposed to go into work at 7, but now i'm getting a ride in at 10, and working till 5. 3 hours less than i wanted, but money is money i guess. i think i'm mowing again tomorrow, which is a good thing. i can even bring my new discman. :thumb:
did anyone see conan yesterday? max went to ozzfest, and said mastodon, shadows fall, and lamb of god were amazing. i don't like shadows fall, but the other 2 are amazing. i woulda never have guessed max to say that.

I was quoted around $500 / month - I'm over 25, but let my insurance lapse - they consider me a new driver. Sucks to own a car and not be able to drive it.

What games are all of you playing lately?
I'm currently playing:
Coded Arms (PSP, just beat the final boss and screwing around on Infinite mode when bored)
Bloodrayne 2 (PS2, just bought it, been meaning to for a long time)
Burnout 3 (PS2, same deal)
Prince of Persia (PS2, same deal. Jeez)
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (PS2, ****it same deal)
I'm a lazy gamer, but when I go at it I go nonstop.
I'll probably be up for the next 3 hours playing Prince of Persia or SPlinter Cell

I don't know what to do today, it's sunny outside, but it's windy too so I don't think I'll be going out. I think I'll drum a bit.
Maybe go to a concert tonight, I don't really.
What music you all listening too???
right now I'm listening too Metallica - Invisible Kid
I know, I think I'm going upstairs and watch a DVD, either Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeji or the Led Zep DVD.

TB test... Tuberculosis test..
Pretty standard for most State employee's.. totally bogus too considering TB has been wiped out, ever infant gets a booster and I haven't heard of anyone having it.. well EVER...
I was going to watch Arlington Rd. but my plans have been foiled yet again.
I shall finish my 40 (Sublime plays in the background somewhere) and then pass out in my gaint water bed...

YO, everyone I'm going to a concert tonight. With Pedalens Pågar, not that you know who that is. It's a Swedish band. Translated to English their name would be The Pedal Boys, pretty stupid when I think about it.
Rock n Roll :)
EDIT: Page Snypa, Biatch
