You mean when I said it was style over substance? Yeah, I said that after just hearing it the once. There's been a few albums like that I've heard where I've thought they were amazing on first listen, then got bored of them very quickly, once the initial impact wore off.
Yes isn't one of them.

How do you like that?
I really enjoy most EiTS stuff. It's nothing like 'The Earth is Not.." or anything, but it gets the job done for me. When I study, I pull up a the OST and some live EiTS stuff and just concentrate - the OST's pretty soothing, but not their best by any means.

All time, in order
1. Sigur Ros - ( )
I've had this record for about 6 months now. I can always come back to it, and while I don't listen to it all the time, it's always great when I do listen to it. The songs can mean anything I want them to, and there are only two that I am unimpressed with for the most part, but I can still listen to those now and then as well.
2. Blink 182 - Blink 182
Great album, inspiration songwriting and excellent "for the track" playing. I love the vocals too.
3. Between The Buried and Me - The Silent Circus
Great metal with awesome emotional stuff mixed in.
4. M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts
Two dudes on keyboards make some of the most beautiful and interesting music around.
5. Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Great folk from the 70s, with some good string arrangements. Very emotional.
6. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Classic. Nuff said.
7. Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush The Show
In my opinion, their best album. It's influence is still being seen today.
8. Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Beautiful instrumental post-rock
9. Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
This is a new one. It's great to just sit back and kick your foot to. Plus the guitarring and vocals are completely badass
10. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
Good times. That's what this album is.
Runner up: Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Blue Lines over Mezzanine? Wacky.
Wacky is such a Ned word. *shudders*
I keep meaning to get Let It Be, because when I was first getting into The Afghan Whigs, I kept reading about how they got together because of their love of The Replacements. The Afghan Whigs are also listed at the top of the 'Followers' list for The Replacements on AMG.

I say 'wacky' sometimes... and I don't think I'm a Ned. :upset:
Ned is a guy from Jazz & Funk, and Piano/Keyboard. Me and Med famously don't like him all that much.

Mine was weird, too. I think I just picked whatever I happened to be listening to at the moment. Some of those albums I love, sure, but others I probably haven't listened to since.
Mine actually hasn't changed all that much.
In fact, let's compare how much I've changed in a year.
1. (-) Radiohead - OK Computer
2. (NE) Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine
3. (-) Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
4. (-) Jeff Buckley - Live At Sin-E (Legacy Edition)
5. (up 1) The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen

7. (down 5) X Japan - Art Of Life
8. (NE) The Zombies - Odessey & Oracle
9. (NE) Weezer - Pinkerton

13. (down 5) The Afghan Whigs - Black Love
14. (up 2) The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
15. (NE) Fleetwood Mac - Rumors
16. (NE) The Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers
17. (down 9) DJ Shadow - Endtroducing.....
18. (down 8) Public Enemy - Fear Of A Black Planet
19. (down 1) Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
20. (down 10) Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Casualties - Opeth - Still Life, Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life, Jeff Buckley - Grace. Yet all those would make a top 50 easily. The latter two make the top 25, in fact.
I overthink these lists.

It's not the lo-fi recording that gets to me, it's the Ben Gibbard-ness of it all. Well, it's not as bad as DCFC, but that's certainly not reason enough to put it on a top list, unless it's the "Most Uninteresting Albums of All-Time" list.

YDload

Everyone's list is pretty mainstream actually, regardless of whether or not some of them would like to admit it. It's either ten albums that have come out in the last decade and are all nearly identical (thanks people from R&M and pop-punk forums!), or they're from A/I regulars who seem to have picked ten albums at random from Rolling Stone's top 500. There's nothing wrong with liking ten albums that music critics agree are good, but I'm just saying that it sounds a little samey and none of these lists are exciting.
Except the one you quoted though. It's got a lot of silly, juvenile political music like American Idiot and NOFX, but at the same time there are A/I "approved" albums like Grace on there. It's a very interesting list because it's not all mainstream stuff, but represents someone who is trying to find new, less popularized albums.
Okay that was a lot of words for no reason :(
