I thought it was good, but it wasn't as good as everyone said it was. And it's definitely not good enough to be quoted as much as it is.

People dress up like Napolean.
Drill team in my school made a dance based on Napoleans.
Kids quote every word of the movie "GOSH, IDIOT!" and "It's a LiGEr!"
Kids trade the DVD, at school. One kid bought the movie and then bought threee more and sold them all to other kids at school.
People wear those shirts that say "Vote for Pedro" and "vote for Summer"
You know how there is "I Love the 90's and 70's" and all that on VH1 well Napolean Dynamite will be like #1 in 2004 on "I LOVE THE 00's"
In Short: I want to kill everyone who likes this movie, and everyone who contributed to making this movie possible.

Quality-wise, Napoleon is pretty questionable. But it does contain one of the best pickup lines I have ever heard.

The steak reminded me of the wrench scene in Dodgeball, which made me laugh. I didn't really like this movie, but I did like the soundtrack. :)

It's so popular because it's the only widely known movie involving that type of humor, previsously only found on such shows as Trigger Happy TV.
And apparently, people liked that kind of comedy.
I'll admit it's somewhat creative and a couple of parts are funny, but overall it's incredibly boring and i'll never watch it again. Their's nothing special about it.

it's called dry humor. wes anderson's made his career off of it.
the royal tenenbaums
bottle rocket
the life aquatic
rushmore
three of those are widely known. dry humor is nothing new. triggy happy tv is not dry humor.

Meh it was funny, but blown up way too much. I think it now seems less funny than when I saw it due to peoples' inability to shut up. Definately no plot, but if you like the humor, it can give you a good laugh

Trigger Happy TV is nothing like Napoleon Dynamite. ND was more like Lost in Translation because of it derived its humor from the awkwardness of everything.
Trigger Happy TV is much more along the lines of Jackass.

I watched it en espanol yesterday. It sucked. The movie sucked in the first place, but at least characters were downright halarious. In the spanish version, kip has no high voice or lisp. Napolean doesn't sound like some unclumsy white dude. They all just sound like your every day Mexican, which negates the humor from the part of Pedro. The funniest part is the conversation between Kip and Napolean when Napolean says "Idiota!" It's great. :D

I liked it, and I think it's kind of sad that people have quoted the crap out of it to the point where even those who haven't seen it, hate it.
I think it's funny because it's so realistic. Of course by realistic, I mean that it has no plot, and neither does life.

I liked Napoleon Dynamite. However, people quote it too much and I don't really understand why it's outrageously popular. It's sort of overrated.

Napoleon - kip you stayed home and ate all the chips
Kip- Napoleon, you're just jealous that I stayed home and chatted with babes online, all day
I think you meant:
Napoleon Dynamite: Stay home and eat all the freakin' chips, Kip.
Kip: Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.
Napoleon Dynamite: Since when, Kip? You have the worst reflexes of all time.
Kip: Try and hit me, Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite: What?
Kip: I said come down here and see what happens if you try and hit me.

I dont understand why its considered so funny...I mean, it had some funny parts and now its some genius movie that everyone likes...what the ****?
I don't see what the big deal about this movie is...I mean, I've seen it twice and I came out with the same impression "that's it?"
Oh well...it's not a bad movie, per say...just HUGELY overrated

They are alike in the way that they are both very random.
Napolean gets hit in the face with a steak = pretty random
Big, furry animals hump each other in the elevator = pretty random

There were some funny parts....the steak, Napoleon throwing the orange at Rico's van and Rico screaming like a little girl.
Overall, the movie was just too stupid. I normally like stupid, funny movies....some of my favorite movies are dude, wheres my car and zoolander....but napoleon dynamite was just too stupid and not very funny for the most part.

Trigger Happy TV is not "random".. There's always a point behind the joke..

I still loved it when the one guy hit Napoleon in the face with a steak.
