I think it's time that Marigold got their own thread. Sure, I whore them alot, but it's time you people got formally introduced to the phenomenon known as Marigold. And if I've whored them to you before, I really urge you to check them out again. Okay.

Marigold

Marigold formed when main guitarist/singer Vadim Taver's old metalcore band This Day Forward broke up. He quickly got together with bassist Scotty Kurtain, guitarist Jason Wilson and drummer Nick Tazza and formed Marigold. If your looking for something like This Day Forward, look elsewhere, as Marigold is an indie rock/post-hardcore band. Marigold go from atmospheric verses with echoing picking lines, to fast punk progressions to heavy metal breakdowns. Taver's vocals go from a steady melodic tone to an emotional falsetto, all while doing some impressive picking lines. Jason Wilson gives the occasional abrasive scream, but nothing to in your face. Nick Tazza keeps the song moving with his rhthymic drums and Scotty Kurtain plays some funky bass. On their purevolume site, they are described as a mix between This Day Forward and Sunny Day Real Estate. They really do sound very much like SDRE, so any fan of them should definitely check out. They recorded a three song demo which I have, but two of the songs are on the purevolume site ("Movement One In A Minor," "This Day Has Opened My Eyes") along with a new song from their upcoming demo ("No 12"). If you really enjoy them, you can contact me on AIM at finchevelle73 for the third song from the EP, "Footsteps." And if your more of the acoustic kind of girl/guy, check out Taver's acoustic band Superstitions Of The Sky at http://www.purevolume.com/superstitionsofthesky.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I take credit for finding Superstitions Of The Sky, by the way.

Marigold are really cool, however on the new song, the vocals aren't very good. The singer just sounds bored. It's not bad, just meg.

Yeah, you mentioned Superstitions but I never checked them out until I found out about the connection.

Marigold are solid. I quite like the vocalist the way he is, they should just make the production more polished. Oh cool new songs

Me thinks they are destined to be compared to Coheed because of the vocals, though.

I guess so. That's really stretching it though. Cause the music isn't much like Coheed at all.

hey, you're not cory!

You all suck. You can't comprehend the beauty that is Marigold.

It would be a completely different experience if you got into the band because you saw them live. Their recorded songs just don't do much to me.

True. But their recordings are still incredible.

Marigold tour in Canada with this amazing Canadian band Sleeper Set Sail so all you Canadians get off your lazy butts and see them. Sleeper Set Sail is fantastic, they're like this nice melodic blend of post-hardcore. Get into it:

First time listening to the song The Masquerade and I consider them a better Circa Survive. I dig it. It's not fantastic but it's certainly not bad. I think if you're in the right mood and mindset for it, nothing else will do. It's one of those things.
