This is ridiculous. Sean William Scott would not be good for this. That's almost as bad as Ashton Kutcher. Why can't they just get Bruce Campbell to get back and shape and play Ash again? Discuss.
Man, the first one was bad enough, but in a good way. Lets not ruin the Evil Dead series with this crap.

Remakes are lame. Why would you want to watch a crappier version of a movie that you have already seen? And Evil Dead? *sigh*
Only remake I want to see is Charlie and The Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. But I'm not very optimistic about that either.

They should just make Evil Dead IV.

He's got some Bruce Campbell type features. His chin and brow line are similar to Campbell's. There are no similarities beyond that. That movie should not be touched.

The good thing about it though is that it is being produced by Sam Raimi, and who knows, everyone said the Dawn Of The Dead remake was a bad idea, and most naysayers ended up liking it.

That kind of gives me the feeling that this is going to be more of a parody than a true-to-the-feeling remake. But whatever, I'm going to hold judgement until I see it.
I was one of the biggest naysayers when they said they were going to remake Dawn Of The Dead, and I ended up really liking it.

I thought the Dawn of the Dead remake sucked. I don't like Sean William Scott to begin with and I don't think he can really play this kind of role. He should stick to the kind of idiot-type characters he's portrayed in the past.

Sean William Scott cannot even begin to touch Bruce Campbell. Those bastards.

"..in the running to play Ash..."
Which means basically that they're doing auditions of Ash, and Sean William Scott happens to be there with a bunch of other people.
I wonder who's gonna be the confirmed Ash.

Sean William Scott would suck for it.

True, I thought the DOTD remake was good in it's own way (obviously not a touch on the original). I think this holds less promise, but I could be in for a suprise. Mind you, Evil Dead 2 was a (sort of) remake of the first one.

but the dawn of the dead remake had NOTHING in common with the original, all it took was it's name, and there was a shopping mall in it

Ashton Kutcher was also considered. Almost just as bad.

Nooo!!! I wish Hollywood would think of some new ideas rather than wrecking the classics, although I admit the first Evil Dead film wasn't great.

You know who would be good in the role of Ash? Charlie Sheen.

then i'll just go ahead and throw out george clooney for the part.
in all seriousness though, i think it'd be interesting to have phillip seymore hoffman play ash. not a conventional choice, i think he could add a lot to the psychological deteriation that happens when faced with deadites. maybe elijah wood could do it.

Well, duh. Bruce Campbell is Ash. In a remake, I think Charlie Sheen could bring the comical/seriousness that is Ash. Of course, Sheen is probably to high list for an Evil Dead remake.

I think any remake should have Ash played by an unknown actor.
although I admit the first Evil Dead film wasn't great.
I don't believe you, it's one of the best horror films ever.

It will be good if you watch it with an open mind probably.
Sean William Scott is one of my favorite actors of all time anyway.

He's not even really an actor. He plays the exact same character all the time. Have you even seen Evil Dead?

****, I've just realised who that is, how could they?
Personally I don't like Raimi as a director, he's far too predictable and Evil Dead suits his style, not Hercules or Spiderman.

What if they got some a woman to do it, like Sigourney Weaver?
Hmmmm...
*Hijacks Thread*
Who else would make a good Ash, besides Bruce Campbell? Hell, let's even include actors who are dead.
I'd have to say Charleton Heston, just because he's about the same level of badass as Bruce

I just realized, the first Evil Dead doesn't even have the Ash we all know and love.
In fact, it was his friend Scott that did most of the deadite fighting. Ash, especially during the last 20 minutes, gets his *** kicked, and doesn't do much fighting. He didn't become Awesome Ash until Evil Dead 2.
Which begs the question, when they remake Evil Dead, are they gonna keep the Ash character as he was in the first one, or just make his personality the way it was in Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness? Will they even put the Ash character in at all?

Samuel L Jackson would be an awesome ash.
I think they should keep the Ash character we love From Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. They should keep him because:
1) He is awesome, it would be a lot more entertaining to watch an awesome Ash than a sissy Ash.
2) It's the Ash most people know
3) Chances are the people they are Auditioning to be Ash don't seem like the kind of people to play a Character that gets beat up every 10 minutes.
