Its quality overall is definitely inferior to Xbox Live, but for $40, you can't go wrong.

Yes, if only for SOCOM 2. The thing that makes that game different is that nearly everyone has a headset who plays it, and it's good to actually strategize rather than everyman for himself.

Yea, get the Socom 2, headset combo, and enjoy. I bought Socom 2 after Christmas, and it was $19.99. Best 20 bucks ever spent. So fun to play online.
By the way, Socom 3 is coming out in May. :thumb:

SOCOM 2 is awesome. I'm terrible, but it's still an awesome game.
SOCOM is the only game I play online with my PS2, and I still think it's worth it.

SOCOM is actually the only online game I play at all, PS2 or PC.
It's just a lot more fun to actually strategize with your teammates rather than let it be just a big fragfest. And since the original came with a mic, nearly everyone who plays SOCOM 2 has one.

yeah man. i played Socom 2 online for the first time this weekend...wasnt that great though....took me 30 mins to setup the PS2 for the connection and its inital startup, and then since i was sharing a fairly slow connection between another Ps2 and a computer, i was either always lagging or getting booted off.
(3MB/s shared)
as for its worth? you dont have to pay for service all the time....if you have a decent ISP, you dont need to pay for online play (aside from the Networking adaptor if needed)

Get the new PS2 slim, and you don't need anything, it's all included. Plus, you can pretty much put it in your pocket if you had big enough cargo pants. I haven't had it long enough to find out, but it looks pretty fragile though.

Only if you have Socom II.
For everything else, there's Halo 2.

I got it for Christmas, and it set itself up very nicely.
The only game I have w/ online play is ESPN 2K5, but it works.
I need to get SOCOM, etc.

Yea definitley get SOCOM. Costs nothing, and there is at least 10 000 people online at any given moment. There are other games that are kind of fun to play too. Sports games, especially Madden. I hear Call Of Duty is alright too, I'm going to rent it and check it out.
