Whats the latest word on vid cards cuz im plannin to buy a RAdeon 9800 Pro 128... if its a decent card, should i get the 256 model?
A 9800 pro will play anything in a good system, a 256MB version will help at higher resolutions. If the price difference isn't much then go for that.

Get the 128-bit, 256DDR. I have the 9800 pro, its the best value card you can get, very powerful. :thumb:

Go for the 9800 Radeon PRO. Try not to get a hold of the SE versions. I recommend getting a 128MB, since the 256MB may be really powerful but it's more aimed towards using a TV/Video outlet to your monitor. So, in conclusion, stick with the 9800 PRO and depending on your choices, either choose the 128MB or 256MB. Both are great video cards.
Now, in my personal opinion, I feel that nVidia is the way to go. Their OpenGL support is quite unmatched, as well as a strong back-up for all their cards. That's just one reason why I like nVidia a bit more than ATI. Another reason is that ATI's official drivers just don't cut it for all programs utilizing 3D engines. These days, a lot of programs and applications use it's own coded engines. If you're using ATI, you'll find yourself searching desperately for an unofficial driver that supports this. Now, it has been said for truth that the Radeon Series are much more stable than the other ATI cards. If I had to choose an ATI card, it would definitely be the Radeon. :)

ATI I think is a better buy with the average non top of the line card these days.
