I just wrote a big old review, and the my web browser crashed and I lost it. So instead of writing it again, I have summed it up into some simple points. It wasn't the longest set of the tour, and Axl didn't even make it to the end, but just seeing those songs, and Axl screaming at me from so close, was magical.
Highlights were Novemeber Rain with it's 3 amazing solo's, The Blues and It's So Easy. And suprisingly Paradise City with Bach was really interesting wo watch, aswell as the amazing solo from Bumblefoot and the Christina Aguillera adaptation.
Some low quality snaps I took on my phone....

I think it's a Stones cover, but I don't recall any Maracas being included. It was the first song with Izzy and he just came out and played it on his own basically. It sounded kinda bluesy/old school rock and roll-ish.

Surprise trip to the Teenage Cancer Trust
Guns n' Roses singer Axl Rose has made a surprise visit to the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward at the University College Hospital in London.
The singer had just completed Guns N' Roses' controversial European tour, culminating with a final date at Wembley Arena a week last Sunday (July 30).
Simon Davies the CEO of the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward said: "We were so touched that Axl wanted to visit the Teenage Cancer Trust ward in London.
"Axl spent time speaking with each of the patients individually asking about their diagnosis and treatment, and what they enjoyed doing when they were not in hospital. Speaking with patients after Axl's visit, I got a real sense of just how excited they were to have met him and how much it lifted their spirits."
The Teenage Cancer Trustis known for its strong links with rock music. Each year The Who singer Roger Daltrey produces a week of shows at the Royal Albert Hall, which this year featured Bloc Party and Razorlight.

I bought the albums in this order;
AFD > UYI2 > GNR Lies > UYI1 > SI > Live Era
Funnily enough that's pretty much the order in which I enjoy the albums the most (excluding Live Era). So I basically listened to the band getting gradually worse from the moment I bought AFD. I only very recently bought Live Era and I really like it, the version of Nightrain on there is so kickass.

I'm not much of a fan of the UYI Albums really. If I put them both together, I could make one album of awesome tracks, and another of what I think is a bit garbage. Oh well, that's just me.
Live Era is awesome though. My mum bought me it a few years ago, and went for a good couple of weeks of just listening to it. No Civil War was always a little disappointing for me though.

Whilst it would have been cool to see them create a single UYI album with the best from both albums, I'm glad they got all the material out that they could. Waiting for Chinese Democracy would be all the more tedious with less material to listen to in the meantime.

"Guns N' Roses was founded in Los Angeles in June 1985. Their unique style incorporated punk, blues, thrash, and other genres of music into the popular heavy metal music of the time. The band was formed by singer Axl Rose, guitarists Tracii Guns and Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Rob Gardner. The name was derived from the last names of Guns and Rose, and makes reference to members previous bands: Hollywood Rose and LA Guns.
When Tracii Guns and Robbie Gardner could not attend the first Guns N' Roses show in Seattle, Rose called guitarist Slash and drummer Steven Adler, whom he had met recently, and asked if they would join the band on stage for the show, they agreed and creating band's most famous line-up. On the way back to Los Angeles, the five members wrote the lyrics for the song "Welcome to the Jungle", which eventually became their signature song."
"The band released a self-produced EP, Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide, in 1986. Copies of the EP reached Geffen Records executives who soon signed the band. Appetite for Destruction, GNR's debut album, was released on August 21, 1987. The album sold twenty million copies and hit #1 on the charts. The album included the songs "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City", all of which were top ten singles on the Billboard charts. As of 2005, Appetite For Destruction remains the best-selling debut album of all time.
The band began opening shows for major bands in the rock industry, but as Appetite for Destruction's sales began to rise, a world tour in support of the album was scheduled. Guns N' Roses traveled across United States, and in the spring of 1988, they were invited to the notorious Monsters of Rock Festival in Europe. The band shared the stage with groups including Iron Maiden, KISS and Judas Priest. The behavior of the members of GNR was gathering attention from the media. McKagan, Slash and Adler were constantly seen on stage under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Members of the crew at the time even stated that Slash had to be carried on to the stage by a group of people and that he often passed out after the concerts ended. During the Monsters of Rock concert in the UK, two fans were killed when the crowd present at the concert began jumping and surging forward at when the Guns N' Roses' show started. The media blamed the deaths of the fans on the band, although they were unaware of the incident until after the show ended. All these events during the Appetite for Destruction tour earned the group the title of "the most dangerous band in the world."
"The song "Welcome to the Jungle" was included on the soundtrack of the fifth Dirty Harry movie The Dead Pool, which led to a couple of seconds of screen time for the band.
Guns N' Roses' next release was the half-acoustic CD G N' R Lies in 1988, which hit #2 on the music charts. The song "One In A Million", which used the words "******s" and "large bundle of stickss", led to controversy that accused the band (or Axl) of racism and homophobia. Axl denied these allegations, pointing out that he was a fan of homosexual singers like Freddie Mercury and Elton John and that his then lead guitarist was half black."
"In 1989, Guns N' Roses were presented with an American Music Award for favorite Pop/Rock single for "Sweet Child O' Mine". At the televised annual award show in 1989, Duff McKagan and Slash appeared intoxicated and used strong language while accepting the Best Heavy Metal Album award for Appetite For Destruction, and Best Heavy Metal Song award for "Paradise City". Because of the incident, subsequent American Music Award shows have been broadcast using a five second delay."
The behavior of some members of the group lead their music label to demand the band modify their habits. The members took steps to deal with their addictions after Rose threatened to end the band if they continued with their heavy drug abuse. He also spoke up about them during an opening set for the Rolling Stones in 1989 saying that "if some members don't stop dancing with Mr. Brownstone, Guns N' Roses will end." The band's heavy use and abuse of heroin is referenced throughout Appetite for Destruction; the song Mr. Brownstone is about heroin and its effects. (Brownstone is a slang term for heroin.)
"The Use Your Illusion Tour (1991–1993): In 1990 Guns N' Roses returned to the studio to begin recording their most ambitious undertaking yet. During the recording, drummer Steven Adler was unable to perform due to his struggles with his cocaine and heroin addiction. Adler was fired in August 1990, and replaced with the former drummer of The Cult, Matt Sorum. Keyboardist Dizzy Reed joined the band as a full time member. With enough music for a double album, the band instead chose to release Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II as two separate albums on September 17, 1991. The tactic paid off when the albums debuted as #2 and #1 on the Billboard Music charts.
After the release of the albums, Guns N' Roses went on a 28 month long world tour, which was famous for its success and for many controversial incidents along the way. In the summer of 1991, Axl Rose jumped into the audience during a concert in St. Louis, Missouri and hit one of the fans after taking away a video camera, which he was recording the show with. After that, Rose left the stage and the angry crowd began a riot in which dozens of people were injured. Rose was charged with having incited a riot, but the police were unable to arrest him until almost a year later, because the band went overseas to continue the tour. Charges were filed against Rose, but a judge ruled he had not directly incited the riot. During this time, guitarist Izzy Stradlin quit the band due to differences with Rose. He was replaced by Los Angeles based guitarist Gilby Clarke."
"The band also appeared at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert that year, and went on a mini-tour with American heavy metal band Metallica. During a show in August 1992 at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, Metallica frontman James Hetfield suffered severe burns after stepping too close to a pyrotechnics machine. Metallica was forced to cancel their part of the show, but asked Rose and Guns N' Roses to continue the concert. After a long delay, Guns N' Roses took the stage. However, Rose claimed he had problems with his voice that night and decided to cancel the band's presentation after just four songs. This led to another riot during a Guns N' Roses concert."

Rolling Stone reports today that Guns N' Roses' long awaited follow-up to 1991's Use Your Illusion albums may finally materialise next month.
Rumours about the status of Chinese Democracy have abounded recently, after the group completed their first successful European tour in almost fifteen years. The band is now scheduled to commence the first "Chinese Democracy" North American tour this month, with the Sebastian Bach band and a revolving door of special guests expected to support.
In an informal interview with Rolling Stone during the summer, Axl Rose revealed that Chinese Democracy would be released "this year," an assertion that's been confirmed by manager Merck Mercuriadis. Now, Rolling Stone specifies that an "inside source" has stated the album's release is scheduled for November 21.
Rose has been working on new material since 1997 and, since parting company with longtime producer Mike Clink, has gone through a number of high profile collaborators including Brian May and Roy Thomas Baker, famous for his work with Queen.
Confirmed titles for the disc include the 'Catcher In The Rye,' 'There Was A Time,' 'Better,' 'IRS,' 'Madagascar,' 'Chinese Democracy' and 'The Blues.' Demos were leaked of the former quartet earlier this year, and soon found their way into the regular setlist.
Update: Webmaster of leading GNR fansite Here Today... Gone To Hell, Jarmo, has thrown his own cryptic hat in, with the following remark:
"RollingStone.com picked the wrong Tuesday. This rumor is not true

Anyway, my girlfriend is going to see GNR in Chicago next month and she might get to go backstage :(

There was no leaked CD; four demos were leaked earlier this year, 'Oh My God' was released on the End of Days soundtrack in 1999 and five songs were played live over the past few years. 'Silkworms,' 'Rhiaid' and 'Oh My God' won't be on the album (if it's released).
haha wtf is this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Guns_N%27_Roses_Song
"Better" is a Hard Rock song by Guns N' Roses, released in 2006. It will appear on the famous long-delayed Chinese Democracy album. The song features a variety of past and present G N' R members from the recording sessions of the album Chinese Democracy. The song "Better" was leaked onto the internet in 2005 in demo form, and then later released in studio form at the end of the year, along with the release of the album Chinese Democracy. Part of the studio version was debuted on a commercial for Harley Davidson titled 'Black Sheep' which debuted in October 2006. From 2005, Guns N' Roses have played Better on just about every stop on their new Chinese Democracy tour.
Funny I could have sworn the album hadn't been released yet

I know it's old, it's just the first time I've ever gone there.
So big drama in gnrland. Del James (the guy who wrote the story for the video of NR and co-wrote Yesterdays and the Garden) is the band's roadie now, and he wrote an article at GNR.com. Half an hour later, the article is pulled from the main page but not deleted from the server. here today gone to hell, the board that's pretty much management's bitch, has banned all discussion of it. You might have heard this happened with the recent harley ad and a rolling stone article before it.
Circus, man.
Oh my god, I read the article, but didn't realise it had been pulled. What the hell is wrong with them?! Grr!

Opened with Welcome to the Jungle..
and after that I'm not sure of the order lol.
Sweet Child
You Could Be Mine
November Rain
Rocket Queen
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
And pretty much every song that you'd expect them to play..and they played The Blues, which was insane, because Dizzy did this HUGE Piano solo on the grand piano and at the end, he stops, then starts again and the whole band comes in playin' The Blues.
They ended with Patience, and then did O' Canada lol.
All the new guitarists are better than Slash or Stradlin. I went into the concert certain that it'd be average, but it was pure amazing.
And my god, Axl can sing better than he could 15 years ago. Mind blowing experience for sure.

I don't know.. I highly doubt the guitarists are better than Slash & Izzy. IT'S SLASH AND IZZY!! Yeah. I love the original line up. 14 days till the concert. 19 days till Aerosmith & Crue!
The guitarists are more technically proficient than Slash and Izzy, but I doubt they have the same songwriitng skill. I'll wait til' I heard CD to confirm that, but the old guys wrote a hell of a lot of memorable tunes.

My girlfriend bought us tickets for a wembley gig, we queued from about half ten in the morning and we were right at the front.
They new GNR are comparable to the original line-up but I wouldn't say necessarily better.
Different:thumb:
But Dizzy's solo definately was amazing.
Don't know if it's been asked before but has anyone seen the tribute band, Guns 2 Roses?

I'd say no again, to be honest. I mean, maybe the new guys can play mad sweeps while negotiating peace treaties or whatever, but Slash and Izzy had an amazingly complimentary style that I've heard with very few other guitarists.
The new blokes can write songs though. Dickie's old band Wifey are really good, in the same vein as Izzy's punkier stuff.

Hey guys, will do some editing and overhauling of the first page soon. The current tour is amazing, wish they could come back to Vancouver (though I understand due to 2002) and I'm still agonizing over the lack of a release date as are the rest of you. Good to be back, albeit briefly. Rock on fellow GNR nutjobs.

I'll definitely check out the band site soon. I finally saw GNR live. Last week. I just suck at posting here right away but whatever. I'm sure no one even reads the GNR thread anymore anyway :(
I completely missed the Suicide Girls (DAMNIT) because the line up outside was huge. I heard they were.. uh.. an interesting act. I got there just when Helmet started, I didn't like them much though. Then I wandered around the Saddledome and found people I knew.. then managed to get a level one row one seat for Sebastian Bach. Some bastard came before GNR started and said it was his seat... so I had to go back to my shitty seats in level 2 with my friends, who were pissed that I ditched them. GNR started at around midnight. People started leaving so early and by the end of the show, less than half the seats weren't filled anymore. It was lame. The show was extremely good though. These fags at school got free tickets but kept whining about the concert and I wanted to just kick them in the face. Ugh, I hate that guy. Wow, I ramble a lot.
Am I the only one who isn't all "zomg suicide girls are so hawt I suck"?
Anyway, good to see that Axl can have a career without Slash.

No good metal ever comes through Calgary because all of the prog and power bands think we're all rednecks and skip over Alberta completely.

Yeah his vocals on The Blues are even worse than on Madagascar. I kind of like the Chris Cornell-like tone but he can definitely do it without sounding like he's dying.
