I have recorded my first song onto my Tascam 8-track (cassette) and I have absolutely no idea as how to get the song from here, to my computer to convert it to mp3.
Please help, any help at all will be extremely appreciated.

get a sound card with an input jack, and recording software. Voila.
(send an audio cable from the Out position of the 8track player to the In position of the audio card input.)

1/8 inch jack to 1/8 jack, connect from your headphone output in the 8 track, then into the line in of your pc.
Thats a cheap decent method.

before you just go plugging things into your computer you may want to make sure your sound card can handle it... or else you could fry it

Hey, I have experience with this exact thing.
ok, our first album, what we did was we mastered to stereo 1/4" reel-to-reel tape. Then we took that to our local music studio, and payed $100 to transfer it to digital. That wasn't the best method.
Our second method was to use a friend's ProTools and master to two channels. This was a good choice with good sound.
Other option's include (this is what I did the first time, and it was the STUPIDEST thing I've ever done) mastering to consumer quality cassettes, then playing them through a boom-box while using a mic to record the speaker! That was AWEFUL! (but got the job done!)
Or, I belive there is a cheep software on Musician's Friend for about $40 that will master you to stereo! Check it out!
