Hey guys,

I can appreciate that this is probably a repeated thread, but thought maybe someone could help me anyway.

My band is building up a good catalogue of our own songs, but we are missing a classic cover song, i'm thinking a song from the 60s-80s. And any other tacky pop songs to cover would be appreicated.

Thanks

Knappster

how bout that song by golden earing?
whats it called?
you know..good start with the bass & drums
and he's all
"drivin all night my hands wet on the wheel"
then the guitar does this classy little fill
"voice in my head that drives my heel"

(i don't know if those are the words)

but its a good one
(for an older song)

or if you're trying to get people to boogie
how bout "gimme 3 steps" by skynnard

You mean "Radar Love"? White Lion already covered this one!

My band also did "Sunshine of your Love"...there's some messed up stuff in that song if you listen closely!!!

Anyway, I'd say do Aerosmith's "Toy's in the Attic". That one's a classic, but not overplayed on the radio!

Ramones- Blitzkrieg Bop - hey know it's probably not what you're looking for but it's a classic, it's easy to play, everyone knows it, and it's guaranteed to get the crowd jumpin'.
Also you said you wanted a Beatles song or something like that so: the Beatles- Paperback Writer -It's only two chords and the riff isn't very difficult at all and it's one of their more popular and upbeat songs.

That is in my top 10 most hated songs of all time.

Do Queen - We Are The Champions.
It works well when Green Day do it.
Or try Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town.

everyone (here at least) loves a GOOD GnR cover

some classics:

tom petty is always great, american girl...refugee...etc...but those are kinda hard to sing if you're a baritone.

Blue Oyster Cult: Burning for you-kinda hard bass part from what I've heard but in general it's not bad, also a cool guitar solo

Lynyrd skynyrd: something that isn't overplayed cough sweet home cough...try Simple Man or Call Me the Breeze (my favorite skynyrd song)

Do that Tom Petty song off the San Andreas soundtrack

'Running Down The Drain'

4 chords in the whole song I think, very straightforward :)

PS:

Its on K-DST if you wanna find it, great tune!!
