Here I'll present some different schematics for passive basses.

Feel free to post your own in here.

Firts of: an attempt for a passive wiring for a Stu Hamm Urge like pickup configuration.

In this diagramm the P has a series/parallel switch (like the fender S1 switch).
The neck J and the P pickups are selected witch an on/on/on switch.
The bridge J is dialed in with its own volume potentiometer while the neck J and the P share one which is positioned behind the on/on/on switch.
At last we have a master tone pot.

Like this it is easy to have a normal J configuration, a normal P config, a normal PJ config and all together.

possible variations:
one volume pot for each pickup, perhaps concentric with a tone control for each pickup.

New S1 Switch Diagram for Fender Jazz. With this you can easily add the S1 to your jazz that doesn't have it!!!

Bit confused...

Bought DiMarzio Model J pups, and noticed that they have 4(5?) wires, not like the diagrams which have two...

I'm guessing those are incase the bass has an active preamp...

Janelectro -

Funny you should post a passive conversion of a Urge II, as that is what I am in the middle of now. I am looking at a slightly different route and would be interested in your thoughts.

Knob #1 - Master volume
Knob #2 - Blend based on switch positions
Knob #3 - P tone
Knob #4 - Jazz tone

Switch positions:
Position 1 - All three pickups selected - blend pot blends between P pickup and front or rear Jazz pickup

Position 2 - Both Jazz pickups only - blend pot blends between front and rear Jazz pickups

Position 3 - P pickup only - blend knob has no effect

This basically duplicates the active circuit without the 3 band eq hi/low stacked eq control and the seperate mid control.

My question is how to wire it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

John

Would it be possible for you to post a passive circuit for a PJ bass with a Vol/VOl/Tone/Series parrallel switch?

IASSAEL, please no not bump threads which are more than 6 months old.

Rather create a new thread. I do however appreciate that you did take the time to search the forums.
