Will you ****ing read the thread before you reply? Christ. Just forget I even said anything, it's apparent you have no idea what I'm talking about.
i know what your talkin about..the past year or so... the Stealth songs were 3 songs on a soundtrack, so they halfassed it. just like in "familiar" it was more about DJ Greyboy and Brandon it sounded halfassed too..it just happens that "familiar" kicked alot of ***. only "make a move" got rotation here in the states and that was the good of the 3. so they didnt get much press on the whole thing. im not tryna argue with you dude i just saw "so-and-so should leave incubus" and i got heated. and this is the last thing i'll say about Brandon having the spotlight or whatever its because he's the lead singer. sooooooooooo many bands are noticed for their lead singer (plant, jagger, ozzy, cobain, etc) its just the way things go.

its alright to have a band noticed for their singer, but brandon is not the most talented individual in the group, thats the way it is

no doubt...i thought Robert Plant was the least talented member of Led Zeppelin. and theres a bunch others
but thats a good example because its gonna be hard for a solo career to start after the band departs. both for Page and Plant and Page was amazing.

They should play some TLC stuff live at inc concerts, its amazing i think mike did it to vent,as for people saying its all about brandon, right from day one hes been playing toppless he dont do it for the womens, mike got to showcase some solos his who guitar playing now is quite tecy compared to earlier stuff ,if mike left the band it wouldnt be the same and if brandon did DITTO,the band as a whole has changed since Alex left, and ACLOTM was the first album with new elements and a new feel.
The next album will be even more different, but will contain the 2 elements that are incubus,Brandons voice and mikes guitar.

Yeah I think Brandon originally took his shirt off to either show his tattoos or cool off a little, but now I'm sure it's partly for the ladies. As for Mike: listen to anything before Make Yourself and you'll hear many solos. And the "elements of Incubus," as you call them, aren't just Brandon and Mike. They are all of the members, whether with Alex or Ben, it is the band collectively that makes the music. A Crow Left of the Murder wasn't the first "new" album, almost every album has been different, they like to explore their music a lot and that's one of my favorite qualities of the band.

I just got into Incubus recently when I purchased S.C.I.E.N.C.E. out of nowhere.
Holy shiznit! They are really funky! The only stuff I heard beforehand were the singles, which were just radio friendly rock songs, but songs like New Skin and Glass are absolutely incredible.

If you like S.C.I.E.N.C.E. then I recommend Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus. They have changed quite a bit since those days though, but who knows what to expect from the new album?

With their side projects behind them, Incubus returned to the studio last month with producer Brendan O'Brien.
"We always make our records really quickly, and this time we're gonna just slow it all down," Einziger said. "Usually we write 12 or 13 songs, and then we just record them and that's it. We'd like to write, like, 40 songs and really spend a lot more time writing than we ever have."
Even though they're looking for calmness in the studio, the guys are already itching to get back on the road.
"We're talking about doing some shows in South America maybe later this year or sometime at the beginning of next year, whenever we feel like it's a good time to split and go down there," Einziger said.

Welcome back man.
Crowded Elevator wasn't written specifically for a soundtrack though. It was left off of Make Yourself and was added to the (was it Scream 3?) soundtrack later. It's just my opinion that they don't do their best work when they are forced into specific guidelines.
But I do love the Stealth songs.
And about the Jazzmaster, I'm going to do my best to coerce my family into getting me one for my graduation present lol. It might be hard though considering they just bought me a Vox AC30 CC212.

urg, i dont know if i really like tool. the yare creepy, i mean im not a wuss, its just some of the stuff they sing about is just wrong. it was either tool or a perfect circle that said in a song " jesus is coming to rape you". now i dont know about you, but that definetly is craazy. its sad too because i know that that guy has an amazing voice and the musicians are asesome, i used to listen to them untill i started to hear some of the lyrics.

On the newest album (A Crow Left Of The Murder), you can try:
01. Megalomaniac
02. A Crow Left Of The Murder
06. Sick, Sad Little World
10. Zee Deveel
As far as I'm concerned their newer stuff is much more rock, whereas their older work leans more towards metal.

Let's not start that debate again. They aren't funk metal, although they were definitely metal. Funk was one of their many influences, the list of which includes hip-hop and traditional Chinese folk music as well.

My sax teacher just lent me his copy of the string quartet's tribute to Incubus. Their version of Circles... That "cheap speaker" effect on the intro violin is beautiful.
And Sound Boy, about your earlier post - Priceless is my favourite track on ACLOTM. I just didn't include it because I don't think it should be forced listening, Incubus just don't do that kind of thing anymore. That dub breakdown is amazing though. The way the guitar and the... erm... effect thing and the bass and the drums layer, it's mind-blowing. And you gotta love the funky guitar.
One day, I want to play in a band that sounds like that breakdown. We'll be called "Junk" and we'll play jungle-funk all day long.

I remember reading an interview in which he said somehting like, "I had just gotten really comfortable with one sound and stopped trying other things. I finally decided that it was time for a change."

As far as his new material goes, he's got it right. But some songs - like (to me) Green - are suffering with the new equipment. They sound thin. Don't get me wrong, I would kill for a Jazzmaster, but that thing just can't compete in terms of thickness with a PRS/Mesa setup.

yeah thats definetly true, and lol he did rant about that quite frequently. but you know what would be awesome? i think that if mike ran his jazzmaster thru his old setup, that would be nice. really nice. and kenney used dirks rig, because in my opinion, dirk used waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better gear than kenney.

Mike used to use his tremoverb with the jazzmaster. I know of him using it on the lollapalooza tour and I have a video from Italy in Jan '04 where he's using one. His distortion was really grainy and didn't sound very good. I think he should just switch to a PRS for some of the old songs instead of just sticking with the jazzmasters for pretty much everything.

ok i guess i was wrong about that:upset: . lol, but yes dirks rig was amazing, and not trying to start that whole arguement over again but i liked dirks style, even if it was a little less skilled. warwicks, i liked, his distorted tones ( like on favorite things) i loved. but thats just my opinion.

I would like to add my 2c for the Ben/Dirk debate: Dirk's sound was awesome, he must have tweaked it so much to get it where it was. He was also one funky mother****er. That said, he didn't get along with the band so now he's out. Now Incubus have a new bassist who is skilled as well. As bands have to evolve over time to stay relevant, so you sometimes need to switch members. Ben has a kickass sound and style of his own, and whether or not he's better than Dirk is irrelevant: point is, he's now bringing his own influence to the band's sound.
And he's a rippin' backup singer as well. \m/

Yep, the Telecaster is his downtuned guitar. He uses it on Agoraphobia primarily. He has 2 though, the one you described and a carmel colored one with a maple fretboard and the word "****er" on the headstock where the Fender logo would normally be.
The Strat he used in Make a Move was the Fender 50th Anniversary Gold Strat because the gold finish matched the whole desert theme in the video.

Well, I still have to decide, that's why I'm asking. At the moment, the Aerodyne Tele seems pretty sweet, it's got the standard Tele bridge pup and a p90 in the neck. The HC reviews are glowing. I'd probably replace the bridge pup with a SD Quarter-Pounder if the thing's not fat enough, and the p90 with a SD Vintage p90 if I can't get the "right" tone (seeing as Bellamy uses a SD Hot p90).

Dude, that's BS. Hoobastank sound nothing like Incubus. At all. Hell, look at their roots: Incubus started out as funk rock, Hoobastank was ska-punk. Their lineups are totally different, and so are their styles. Hoobastank has much more of a punk element, whereas Incubus is sitting firmly in the rock genre.
And besides, the bands started out around the same time and they're good friends so they won't rip each other off. They have worked together though - the sax solo at the end of Summer Romance was done by the former saxophonist for Hoobastank.

Not true. Hoobastank definitely have their own sound. I'm going to go listen to them now, so I can be sure.
...OK, I've listened to a few Hoobastank tracks. The only stuff I've been able to found that sounds like Brandon and the boys is the chorus riff to Crawling In The Dark. Even that has more of a punk element to it, as far as chords and feel is concerned. I can easily analyze all the different aspects of their music and show you where they differ and where they overlap - I can promise you there's more difference than similarity there. I respect Hoobastank for being who they are; like Incubus, they've changed a lot since their original incarnation.
I assume that Lostprophets track is on Start Something - which track is it? (I don't know the track names.)
Sound Boy

i see most of Hoobaincubus in their first album with "crawling in the dark" the newest album with that "reason" song on it was crappy and didnt sound much like incubus. its mostly the vocals and guitar that they take after. i guess its just me but i think Hooba is influenced by incubus.

I would say that there is some element of similarity between the two, but Incubus is far more "rock," for lack of a better word, than Hoobastank. Also Incubus has a far more diverse sound IMO.
