I think Incubus are great musicians, but a terrible band. They could do much better with their talent I think.....still pretty cool at times.....

But if they were like shredding virtuosos or whatever they would alienate some of their audience. They do a great job connecting with tons of different people in a number of ways.

Hey. My bass player hates Incubus. A lot. Then a couple of days ago he played me a Primus CD and I said "This will really piss you off, but these guys sound kinda like Incubus does on Fungus Amongus (which is the only CD I listen to by them)". He was interested, and I let him hear Psychpsilopsiblin (or however you spell it) and he heard the bass solo and liked it. So I want to know, was Alex the bassist on that CD?

Hmmm, basically what I'm saying is they do really know their instruments and Brandon really can sing like a bastard at times but.....I'm not sure, they seem a bit bland for the amount of talent that they have, thats just me though....
When I think of what I'm really trying to say, I'll be back :D

I hope they start releasing singles that actually show their skill. I'm getting kind of sick of people saying all of the guitar work is simple power chord stuff.

Dont know if this was posted before or not, but august 1st incubus is performing on the jay leno show, im guessing they'll be playing make a move. Also i just finally was able to listen to all the movements of the odyssey from the halo soundtrack, one word, amazing. Great bass, great guitar work, great everything, even a few little tributes to pink floyd (again dont know if this has been discussed before). Anyway, Anti gravity live is awesome, thank you for uploading that, ive never heard it live.

* btw have they ever played aqueous transmission live?

Morningview is my favorite CD from incubus. I love every song on it. i especially like thier mellow songs from that CD. I can't seem to get into their newer stuff but i also loved Make yourself. This may be my favorite modern band. Incubus is just great.

FunkyJimbob
07-27-2005, 07:31 PM
Incubus have a really good line up, a singer (Brandon Boyd) who can sing and also write great thought provoking lyrics, Mike Einzigner an underated guitarist whose name I can never spell, he uses effects like no other guitarist does, Ben Kennedy I'm sorry 'pwnz' Dirk, sure Dirk could slap and pop thats about it, listen to Ben's basslines on the new album, it awesome, DJ Kilmore imo not needed but i suppose he adds 'layers to the songs, and finally Joze Pasillas, awesome drummer.

Every one of their band members can play the instrument well and therefore they create excellent music, sure its probably to 'pop' for alot of the death/metal heads on this forum but in my eyes they are the best popular band around to date.

Favorite Songs:
Sick Sad Little World
Agoraphobia
Leech
Southern Girl
The Warmth
Battlestar Scralatchtica
Out From Under
Certain Shade Of Green
Certain Shade Of Green (accoustic)
Redefine
Favorite Things
Deep Inside
Vitamin

Nah, sorry man but Dirk had a real good ear for what sounded good. His riffage is catchy and he matured by album and started playing what sounded good and not just to show off.

Ben is good but he ****s around with the songs too much... he ruins Nice to Know You on the Red Rocks dvd... he tries to fit as many notes as he can in at all times.

Yeah lately ive been getting into more of their mellow "love" songs, cause i am so seriously falling in love with this girl lol, sometimes it just makes my days better knowing i can come home and listen to some incubus, and listen to what i feel inside be expressed through songs. Another thing is, is that incubus seems to feed off the positive things in life, not the negative making the music that much more meaningful and deep.

Brandon's lyrics are definetely well-crafted pieces of art in my opinion, but pretty much every aspect of their music is at least a little unique. I mean Make Yourself may not be the most original album in the world but S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and A Crow Left of the Murder definetely hold their own.

They would be my second favourite band, right after the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think they are a totally awesome band with a unique sound. Their song can be loud and heavy like Pardon Me, Megalomanaic and Vitamine or can be more suttle and thought invoking like Drive and Here In My Room. As for Ben Kenny well he is clearly a very tallented bassist and his style of playing is different from Drik Lance's. Dirk was more on with Mike's guitar and he seemed to use more accidentals to give his lines a cool sound. I think Ben is more "in key" but plays different. That's my opinion anyway.

Nothing compared to songs like Vitamin, New Skin, Calgone, Deep Inside, anything from Fungus or Enjoy. Damn they were either stoned out of their minds or they're genius.

We are all major Incubus fans though. Like if i could play the drums i could play the drum parts i know the music so well lol. Everyone knew exactly when everyone came in when their instrument had major emphasis etc., it was awesome

I would totally fall asleep in there. They said Mike and Kilmore could sometimes be found asleep in that room after too much wine or whatever.
