Choking Victim is good stuff. I listened to Leftover Crack before I heard CV, and didn't like it right away. I'm glad I gave them another chance.

The first time I heard stuff by Leftover Crack and Choking Victim was when my friend Stuart came over. He downloaded bearshare for me and downloaded Atheist Anthem by LoC and Infested by CV. Good times...

Nick is the expert on this, but from what I know Choking Victim broke up and Leftover Crack was formed with Ezra and Stza, both from CV.
Leftover Crack also has members from bands like F-Minus, Blindsided, Sucidial Tendencies, and Alec Mohamed from CV on bass. Their first drummer was Ara from Agent 99, but as of now I think their drummer is Candy from Antimaniax. Ezra and Stza are both on Guitar and Vox.
Morning Glory is a Leftover Crack side-project. There are a bunch of other LoC side-projects like InDK and American Distress.

Bumble Bee Tuna is all I know by them and it was a joke in Physics class with my friends because we all hated the parodies they did for the lunch segment of the daily news at school so we thought they should play that song. From an interview with Buck-O-Nine:
What do you think about the Ska scene nowadays?
The ska scene nowadays seems to be fairly underground like it was when we first started the band. The only difference is that now people have heard of ska. You still hear it in commercials and on tv shows and movie soundtracks. In the old days people would ask you what kind of music you play and you'd say "ska" and they you'd have to say "You know like Madness and the English Beat?" and then the person might get a clue about what you're talking about. Now you just say "We play ska" and people's faces cringe up in a look of disgust

yes yes yes! I was reading a music encyclopedia (doing a report on jazz last year) and I was flipping through reading about the Ramones and the Sex Pistols and the Specials and Bob Marley and everything...and I read the "ska" entry. And it said it was a mix of reggae and jazz. Stupid stupid STUPID! Even the however many (like 5 at least) music professors that wrote and editted it didn't catch that error!

2nd and 1st are way better then 3rd. 3rd wave bands all sound the same most of the time and get really repeativie and boring.
Good defintion of ska: The precursor to reggae, it was the Jamicians interpretation of American Blues, Jazz, and R&B. Characteristic sounds are upstroked guitar, groovy bass lines, and the ocassion horn section or keyboard backing.

Oh I don't think 3rd wave all sound the same at all. There's the poppier RBF, LTJ, No Doubt stuff, the punk AAA, Op Ivy, Leftover Crack stuff, the more traditional Toasters stuff, the super-fast Tomas stuff...

Maybe it's because the third wave has produced so many more bands than the ones before it. In my opinion third wave is the best, because it encompasses bands making every type of ska.
But, I know you meant skapunk, but still, there are so many good, unique in their own way skapunk bands that aren't repetitive or boring- you just have to avoid the crappy ones like Less Than Jake. Link 80, MU330, Catch 22, Spring Heeled Jack, Ska Ska Club, Secret Agent 8, are way different than each other and that's just a small handful of those types of bands

There is some variety in ska-punk, but it just seems so narrow to me, and a lot of it gets kind of boring for me. The actual 3rd wave as a whole, though, does provide some variety that I enjoy, like bands going back to older waves or mixing in other genres besides punk and pop.

Not being sarcastic but I do randomly skank at times. You know when you start "hearing" or "playing" music in your head, well when it happens to be ska (good ska) I start to skank and I actually show people how to do it properly.
I should charge people to get lessons off me! I'm the best skanker in western/north western Ireland yo! Best skanker in 12 counties (counties=states, as you Americans would call them)

If you hate pop-punk, don't go. As long as you don't expect it to be the show of the year, changes are you will have a good time. And their older stuff is pretty good IMO, and that's what they mostly play live.
